Rob Hunter

Rob, Amy and the Yacks Hawaiian Island trip.

26 July 2015

One final stop. The 808 Grindz Cafe. Pancakes. And writing on the wall.

25 July 2015

Kona Brewing Company. Hell yes.
Why not stop at a couple beaches, hang with some turtles and body surf? Seas were pretty rough today, but fun.
So we went to the bay to snorkel and then saw this...so no snorkeling but the waves were pretty sweet to watch.
Sunrise on Mauna Kea. We rose at 3:50. Drove 75 minutes, climbed from Sea Level to just under 14,000 feet on this dormant volcano to view the sunrise above the clouds. Oh and the drove back.

24 July 2015

Hello active volcano. Halema'uma'u crater rim.
Climbing down into the Kilauea Iki crater...at the Hawaii National Volcanos National Park.
Epic Jeep Tour hidden Hilo. Black Sand Beaches, ice pools, tower jump on coconut island, Japanese Garden, Rainbow Falls, Mehana Brewery, Atebar's and the Big Island Candy.
Rolling in the renting Jeep up past Mauna Kea past the lava flows up into the desolate hills. Amy described it as 'post apocalyptic.' I agree. Very eerie and beautiful at the same time.

This sunset outside Kona, HI amongst the old lava was, to sound cliche, amazing. We watched the sunset over the Pacific Ocean...even saw the green glow immediately after the sun dropped below the horizon. That's something I've never seen before. Beautiful and calming. This is a sunset everyone should see once on their lives.
Akaka Falls. An amazing waterfall on the Big Island near Honomu. We stopped here after our zip line trip at the Botanical Garden. It was definitely worth seeing. They have set up a little hike around the falls in the rainforest. It's an easy walk, but one not to miss.
Let's go zip lining. Zip Isle. Near Hilo, HI. Zip lining over streams under a rain forest canopy. Good times!
Aloha Bayfront Cafe. Lunch. Yelp had 4.5 stars. Ona wrap was good, ice cream was excellent. First impression of Hilo: sleepy, waterfront town. Seems disconnected from the world--which is great.
Headed to Hilo, Big Island.

22 July 2015

Dinner. Flatbread Company. Paia, Maui. With the newly weds. Interesting...the original is in Mass. They have a few there, one in CT and another in ME.
Maui Brewing Company. Heck yeah. Got swagged up too.
Pride of Maui. Snorkeling, Sea Turtles and Snuba! Great day out on the boat.

Mr. & Mrs. Rob Coppola
Getting ready for the Kelly & Rob wedding!
Monkeypod for dinner last night in Maui. It was pretty solid. I had some noodle dish, which I liked once I added some Cholula.

20 July 2015

This is golf! Wailea Blue, Maui.
Hello Maui!
Headed to Maui. The Rob-Kelly wedding tomorrow!

19 July 2015

Uncle Bo's for dinner. Pupus. The locals recommended it.
Really? This view is stupid. Seriously.
Pre-dinner view. Note the surf in the 2nd photo. We were down there about 90 minutes before this photo was taken. Lots of fun. Surf was rocking today. Big undertow...even though the wall is meant to protect us from waves and tow. Hell yeah!
The 43rd Hawaii Annual Ukulele Festival. July 19, 2015. Honolulu. The legendary Willie K playing...
Jeep Tour. Part 2. Hawaiian Adventure Company. We toured Oahu by Jeep. A beautiful Island. It's much more diverse than Honolulu.
Jeep Tour, part 1. Jurassic Park (all of them) filmed in part in some of these areas. Koma (our tour guide) also showed us where Mila Kunis and Jason Segal jump in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (I wanted to jump). We also learned Jack Johnson is from the North Shore on Oahu, Hawaii. We swam at Obama's favorite beach, drove past his favorite hike and fell in love with all parts Oahu.

18 July 2015

Waikiki at night. And Amy opts for the Dole whip while Rob goes for the $1.99 PBR.
Waikiki Brewing Company. First up, Eee Pah IPA. Pretty light IPA. Good for the summer. Also tried the Jalapeño Mouth Ale. Damn good.
Chinatown. Honolulu, HI.
The Pig & The Lady. Amazing late lunch stop. Famers Pho and Tofu Lemongrass Bahn Mi. Woah. Chef was on Parts Unknown. Five Stars.
Day 2. Chillin at Waikiki Beach. Tried boogie boarding. Unsuccessfully. It took me a while to figure out how to balance and swim with the board. All is well. A few cuts from the rocks and an hour in the water...feeling pretty alright. Of course the locals make it look easy...
Run Honolulu!
Good morning Waikiki. Have to say, this condo was a great find by Amy Yack. Looks pretty obvious from here doesn't it?

17 July 2015

Duke's. Dinner Day 1.
Sunset Waikiki.
Yack sippin' on the surf sampler at Duke's. Stop #2.
Tiki's. Recommendation from Marilyn, the condo owner. First drink. Across from Waikiki.
The Yacks are here. And the view from the 38th floor in the condo...
We have landed!
On the way in
Headed to Honolulu!
