Nicola's adventure in Thailand

Before we head for the jungle, we decided to book a hotel resort on the coast of Khao Lak, about a 15 minute drive north of Nang Thing Beach. We chose the Pullmans hotel and spa resort, being 5 stars and a great location. Once we arrived it was a heavenly experience. Our room was beautiful, the resort felt like you were in a jungle paradise and the beach was peaceful and stunning. We decided to join in for some group activities which were complimentary of the hotel stay. There was a great choice from yoga to volleyball, biking, water aerobics and so much more. I love a good read and sat watching the volleyball whilst reading the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. I find his books so calming and easy to pick up when you're pretty much anywhere. The sea was so warm it could easily have been a bath. Rafts were provided to swim to and dive off, and lots of sun loungers and bean bags to chill on. With a great choice of restaurants and pools, this is a great relaxing stay for anyone.
Waking up early was a struggle, but all worth watching the sun rise on Nang Thong Beach. The beach was dotted with runners, walkers and early workers. I ran for a little while then started to take in the surroundings. I saw in the distance fisher men, loading their boats and setting off for their day at sea. Morning is such a great time to be awake. Especially mornings in Thailand.

The Similan Islands are just off the coast of Khao Lak. Day trips start with a 1.5 hour speed boat journey followed by snorkelling, beach walks and island hopping. Once you're their it's like arriving in paradise. The sand is white and soft, the sea is a beautiful turquoise blue and the fish are heavenly. There is a lunch area and also the option to camp. I don't think it gets much better than waking up on a island like these. For a round trip of between 2000-3000 baht you can't really go wrong.

Watching the beautiful sunset at Khao Lak. The sea was very calm, with a light welcoming breeze. I had no idea Thailand could be so beautiful. If you want to experience paradise on a quiet beach, Nang Thong is perfect.
