Francesca's voyage in Denmark

23 July 2016

We were recommended to go and eat at the meatpacking industry area. We ended up choosing a really fancy restaurant and we hardly ate anything because of the portion size but it was still a nice place to see. The next day we rented bikes from the hostel and decided to cruise around the city! We visited Nyhaven which was really beautiful and we saw the Opera and theatre house too. Towards the end of the afternoon we went in search of the Papiroen. There you can find all sorts of food vendors selling delicious meals out of food trucks. We were surprised to find that many locals ate there. They also had wish trees, you were able to write your wish on a tag and hang it on the trees they had standing on the dock. It's a really nice idea I think.
We took the train from Bern-Basel SBB-Hamburg-Copenhagen. We ran into a problem because the lady at the desk had given us the wrong time reservations for the train we wanted to go on. In the end we were able to find our way and we eventually made it to Copenhagen 2 hours late. We checked in to the Danhostel which was more in the business area of the city so we had the feeling that everything was quite impersonal. The staff were friendly enough but not overly nice either. It ended up being more of a hotel then hostel and we had a room on the 16th floor with an amazing view over Copenhagen.
