Elizabeth & Boys - Cannon Beach '15

15 August 2015

After two cloudy days, we were treated to the best weather day of the week. We were given a late check out on our house, so we headed down to the waves for about four hours before packing up and leaving for Portland around 4 PM. Harry has become so brave and bold in the waves, I'm so proud of him. He LOVES being out there. And, he has taught Charlie how to swim!! It was A great week, and I am very happy to be home. 😊

Another rainy day that gave us a chance to explore Cannon Beach in other ways! Started out with brunch at Pig 'n Pancake, a weird little joint but the boys liked it. Later walked into town again for shopping & a free afternoon play at the Cannon Beach playhouse put on by the summer theater camp kids, a series of Dr. Seuss performances. Very fun to see the local kids perform! Had dinner in, a little driveway-baseball and called it a night. We depart tomorrow, if we're lucky the weather will provide us with a half-beach day before we leave!

A bit of a laid back day. It was overcast ... spent the morning at the house then walked into town and the boys played at the local park. We stumbled upon a hand-crafted vinegar and oil shop where we sampled some VERY delicious fruit vinegars, couldn't decide on one so we got three! Had Pizza a' Fetta again for dinner and back to the house (after ice cream, of course).

This morning we stayed around the house. Harry taught Charlie how to play Mancala and they played baseball in front of the house. Then the clouds cleared and we had some really nice, low-wind beach time. We walked in to town ... the half-mile walk each way has become a highlight of each day. We pass by lots of quaint little houses and galleries on the way. Did some shopping, had dinner at Lumberjacks. Back to the house for more Mancala and to bed!

Back to just the three of us. The others left this morning, we were sad to see them go. The boys and I headed to the beach, but it was pretty windy so called it a day early. Walked around cute little downtown Cannon Beach, had the best slice of pizza I've ever had at Pizza a' Fetta, a walk-up window in a little European-like courtyard. It was a lovely walk home with the perfect summer temp and light ocean breeze.

The clouds didn't stop our fun! We headed to Seaside to the huge arcade, Boardwalk & aquarium. Then back to the house where the boys ran around and a lovely walk to dinner at Bills Tavern where (I dare say) I ate the best fish & chips I've ever had! Poor baby Lexie is teething so Aaron had to stay back with her. The boys are certainly making memories for years to come!

9 August 2015

What a wonderful day! After Katie's homemade breakfast burritos we headed to the beach ... not a cloud in the sky! The four boys are a pack now for sure. Aaron took them out into the BIG waves. Marc arrived in the afternoon to complete the group, more sand and sun followed by a spaghetti dinner ala chef Katie!

We made it! Even though the last sunshine we saw today was out the windshield on the way here, we made the most of the rain and had a very fun day. Arrived and got settled in the beautiful & charming house. Took a wet and windy walk on the beach, went out for dinner and to the store, and when we got back, the Gallagher clan had arrived! The four boys are already up to lots of shenanigans ... Aaron is playing the guitar for Katie & I and baby Lexi. So nice!!
And...we're off!!
The weather forecast has changed from rain every day, to partly cloudy starting tomorrow. Yahoo!
