12 August 2016

Day 9 - A 5am alarm kicks us out of bed⏰. We decide to have breakfast on the beach watching the sunrise! We are witnessing a double rainbow crushing into the sea while eating fresh pineapple and papaya!! What else do you need in life? πŸŒˆπŸŒ…πŸŒŠπŸŒ΄πŸπŸ‰ We hit the road destination Drake Bay. After a long drive we arrive in Sierpe where we leave our pick up car in a deposit to get a ferry directed to Drake Bay! The journey is fantastic: our speed boat pass through a mangroves lagoon which then open up in the Pacific Ocean🌊🚀🌊 We arrive at our bungalow from a Costa Rican indigenous family. The hut is literally on the beach!🏝🏠 We spend the rest of the afternoon practicing yoga on the black rock beaches around drake bay with Ara Macaos flying over usπŸ™πŸ»πŸ¦πŸ€ On our way back we witness the most incredible Rainbow I've seen in my life, with a white horse walking on the beachπŸ˜πŸŽπŸπŸŒˆπŸŒ…

Day 8 - After sleeping at a tiny port village near Montezuma we board our car on a ferry to Puntarenas. Once arriving at the port we start our 2h drives towards Manuel Antonio. Once there we leave our luggages at the posada we found on Agoda, which was located on the beach, and depart for our adventure of the Manuel Antonio National Park. After the natural serves and wilderness we witnessed in the Nicoya Peninsula we are not that surprised of the Park. Beautiful sceneries and beaches but nothing compared to Cabo Blanco or Montezuma. We are slowed down by the rain but eventually the sky clear out and end up our day swimming in the waves at sunsetπŸŒŠπŸŒ…πŸŒŠ We have a quick margarita at a nice bar with a massive airplane inside and have dinner in a really chill restaurant where a local band was playing Latino music🎺🎢🍹🍹🎢🎸

Day 7 - We wake up with the first morning lights and decide to take a stroll on the beach. The calm and peacefulness of Playa Sant Teresa is incredible. It's just me, Marti and a couple of surfers who went out in the ocean for some wave hunting.πŸŒ΄πŸ„πŸΌπŸ„πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸŒ΄ We leave Santa Teresa destination: Montezuma. On our way we decide to stop at the Reserva Biologica de Cabo Blanco where, after a 2.30h trekking deep down in the jungle, convinced of being lost, we finally reach this paradise on earth. A desert beach with crystal blue water, with mangroves and vines growing near the sea is just waiting us there to be experienced! Sad of leaving this incredible place we hit the road to reach Montezuma. Once there we decide to talk a beach trek to visit Playa del Carillo. After passing through small little coves where we stop for some yoga sessions we arrive at the beach where a natural waterfall is crushing into the sea! A priceless scenery that I've never experienced before. We walk back in th

Day 6 - we left Playa Guiones early in the morning to proceed further south in the Nicoya Peninsula. Our destination is Santa Teresa, but we stopped at several beaches on the way there: - Playa Samara: a really beautiful beach with clear blu waters. Here we witnessed 2 horses chilling in the sea after a ride.🌴🌊🐎🐎🌊🌴 - Playa Carrillo: a nice beach sided by thousands palm trees dividing the road from the sea -Reserva biological Camaronal: we were shocked to find no one on this natural reserve, surrounded by green ivy growing in the sand and lots of iguanas running around broken trees. Here we did some yoga and chilled embraced by the sound of nature πŸƒπŸ™πŸ»πŸƒ Before departing for the road we stopped at a local corner posada where Daniela prepared us a fresh ceviche and hand made patacones (fried plantation) We arrived at Santa Teresa in the evening and chilled on the beach until twilightπŸŒ…πŸŒŒ
Day 5 - Alarm turns off at 5am, we jump out of bed, pick up our boards and head to the ocean -----> 🌊the waves are calling🌊 feeling again part of nature by merging ourselves with the deep blue Pacific Ocean. After surf, a thunderstorm hits Playa Guiones, and we decide to spend the rest of the day practicing yoga at the Green Sanctuary. Here we get to know Georgia, a yoga teacher from the states who helps us extend our souls and practice new poses. There was a moment where we were laying on the wooden house floor, with our soar bodies and on the background tropical birds chip chipping in the forest. I felt happy! πŸŒ΄πŸŒ³πŸƒπŸŒ§πŸŽπŸ™πŸ»πŸŽπŸŒ§πŸƒπŸŒ³πŸŒ΄

In the next couple of days we are staying at the Green Sanctuary, an incredible eco lodge in Playa Guiones run by a really laid back and organized Argentinian guy. Once settled down we decide to go to the beach where we we enjoyed an incredible traditions cheviche sold by a local fisherman on the beachfront. We spent the rest of the afternoon surfing until sunset! I forgot how beautiful it was to feel a whole thing with the ocean. πŸ„πŸΌπŸŒ…πŸ‘©πŸΌπŸ‘¨πŸ½πŸŒ…πŸ„πŸΌ

My bag has finally arrived!!! πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸŽ’πŸ™ŒπŸ» and I could finally give my sisters her birthday gifts 🎁😍 After a delightful and happy breakfast we head to the suspension bridges trail with big smiles on our faces! Once there we have a mixed filings of scariness and excitement! The bridges are really high and hang literally in the middle of he forest πŸŒ΄πŸŒ²πŸ›€ 12 km walk and lunch break! We spend the rest of the afternoon trekking through the Monteverde Cloud forest!! once we arrive at the top of the trail we realize why that place has been called like that: we witnessed in front of us a sea of clouds looming over the green hills and lower valley! We are excited and spend the rest of the afternoon being surrounded by nature! πŸŒ³πŸŒ²πŸŒ΄πŸ‘©πŸΌπŸ‘¨πŸ½πŸŒ΄πŸŒ²πŸŒ³ Total km for the day: 26.5 We slept like kids that night

Day 1 - After a 3h bus trip we arrived in La Fortuna, the village at the entrance of the Volcano Arenal and Cerro Chato. Due to unstable weather we decided just to trek some of the trails at the base of Vulcan Arena. We've been lucky to see the Vulcan peak, usually invisible due to clouds and discovered a giant ancient ceiba tree😍🌳- the tree of life πŸ™πŸ» I'm the night we enjoyed a nice steak and ceviche (marinated fish) and eventually returned to our accommodation (Villa Josipek). Still no trace of my backpack ---> had to buy new clothes. Fuck fuck fuck Air CanadaπŸ–•πŸ»πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ–•πŸ»
