A honeymoon of temples and volcanos!

12 August 2015

After a whirlwind of packing, marrying, reminiscing, and moving, we were on our way to Singapore. Spent a night at Raffles, left our big bags and began our adventure!! Started our honeymoon in a rice paddy with visits to the temples at Prambanan and Borobudur as well as a scenic tour by Merapi, the local volcano. Yogyakarta was definitely our most local feeling stop in Indonesia, from the constant chanting in local mosques to the never ending photo-ops as the resident foreigners. We got hooked on martabak (the not so healthy, amazingly tasty roadside "pancake" stands) and nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice that, fortunately, is common throughout Southeast Asia). But outburst dinner was hard to come by, being passed over for locals/friends. Luckily our first night we discovered the delicious jasmine iced tea so common here. We would have to get braver if we wanted to eat:)
