Where to go next?....Thailand!!!

14 January 2017

Tomorrow, our journey continues. Next destination, Malaysia. Thailand made us feel good, we were able to eat without fear, find comfortable places to sleep and most importantly forget about this "daily stress" of the traveler. We made nice encounters, spend an unforgettable Christmas surrounded by elephants. New Year's Eve was special and very spiritual. We had this amazing trip to Koh Samui with a Catamaran jumping big waves, people throwing up and the two of us just trying to survive πŸ™ˆ! I love this country, you never know what to expect...Thank you Thailand πŸ’› Stay tuned! βœŒπŸΌοΈπŸ˜˜πŸ˜ŠβœˆοΈπŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ

No boats, buses or trains circulating in the southern provinces. Let's hope that the weather gets better so we can continue our journey. We wish a good start of second quarter to all our friends teachers! 2 more to go! πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜…πŸ™ƒβ€οΈ

With Thailand grieving the death of their beloved King Bhumibol, this new year's eve was different but special. No fireworks, no people dancing, no alcohol, no party. A gong was hit 9 times at midnight to mark the new year after which everyone started to pray and sing their royal anthem. Thailand's beloved King died this October at the age of 89.

One day at Elephant Nature Park and you feel alive again. This Park saves elephants who were mistreated, beaten or abandoned by humans. Here, they learn to trust humans again. In this park, elephant riding is prohibited because it's seen as animal abuse. The money they get from the visitors is invested in food and medicine for the animals (they also have dogs, cats, water buffaloes). We are still overwhelmed by what we saw. If you want to know more about the park and the elephants, you can check their website www.elephantnaturepark.org ❀️🐘

❀️wonderfully chaotic China Town❀️ We first saw Bangkok's China Town almost 1 year ago. We were positively chocked by all the chaos. People selling all kinds of food between clothing stores. Men driving with their old Vespa through the small corridors trying not to run over one's feet...This is what motivated us to explore more of Asia. After more than 4 months of travelling through Asia we are now used to the bustling everyday rhythm and start to appreciate it even more!

I love the diversity of this city. You just have to love Bangkok! The best city in the world for street food, shopping, sightseeing, AND AND AND! It has one of the world's biggest street market (15000 shops) selling anything you can imagine! Today it just felt good to be in a city where people don't see you as a dollar bill! Most of the time, people think that being a tourist is a synonym of being rich and it's becoming more and more frustrating to deal with this. We don't see ourselves as tourists but as travelers trying to enjoy the little things in life. It may sound kitschy but this is what our journey has become. The more I travel, the more I realize that I'm grateful for what I have. I'm not only talking about the material things but also about my family and friends. You make me stronger everyday! ❀️
