Decided to take a Peruvian Cooking class and what an awesome experience it was! Learned in a beautiful kitchen and cooked great food after a visit to gather food in the local market.
Turns out today was one of the biggest festivals in Cusco, amazing displays of culture through parades, costumes and food in the city today! Lucky we got the chance to see it!
Our flight was cancelled! Some very mad people at the airport, but it gave us the chance to explore Cusco another day.

Headed back to Cusco after our trek at Machu Picchu, flight to La Paz in the morning!
Early morning wake up for an absolutely amazing day to hike Machu Picchu! Started in the dark to climb up to the National Park and then moved on to the Machu Picchu mountain later in the day. An experience of a lifetime!

Got some lunch at a family restaurant run in the jungle, spectacular Peruvian food!

12 June 2017

Had some drinks and load of fun at our hostel before we headed out for our next day on our trek!
Started our adventure with a downhill bike ride after driving up a mountain to 3500m. Ended the 2 hour ride to 1500m above sea level! Amazing views and a cool way to see the scenery.

Ran into a parade on the Main Street in Cusco in the evening. Great costumes, music and culture on display.
Spent the day exploring the rustic city of Cusco at 3,400m above sea level. Beautiful cobblestone streets and an amazing historic district in the city.
Off to Cusco this morning! Short flight to our next stop.

9 June 2017

Slow night as we caught up on some much needed rest in our hotel room before we depart for Cusco tomorrow.
Stopped off at an alpaca retreat in the national park and an active volcano before heading back to Arequipa.
Up early at 5AM to begin the ascent of the canyon, made it up in 1h 50 mins to capture some awesome views and an amazing 24 hrs in Colca Canyon.

8 June 2017

After lunch we made our way around the canyon and to the lodge where we spent the evening. Managed to find the energy to play some soccer at the small field by the lodge, mesmerizing views in the middle of the pitch.
And the trek begins! Descended the canyon before we grabbed our lunch at a restaurant in a local village.
Stopped off to see some Condors in flight, amazing to see these massive birds glide through the air.
Early morning ride to the Colca Canyon, great views as the sun rose during the ride.

Grabbed some delicious crepes for an early dinner before we got some rest for our early 2:30AM wake up for our first trek to Colca Canyon!
Roamed around the beautiful streets of Arequipa, colorful buildings all around in this city. Even managed to run into some alpaca at a clothing shop!
Walked around the local market, amazing displays of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses all around. Grabbed some food at a stall as well!
Long 14 hours night bus to Arequipa, nice views along the way.

Crazy time at the sand dunes of Ica, did some thrill riding in a dune buggy and some sand boarding.

Walked around Ica, taking in the warm weather and hive of activity at the parks, market and shopping centers
Arrive in Ica! Much warmer weather here than Lima as it ranges from 25-30 degrees. Grabbed some lunch at a local restaurant
Great bus ride to Ica this morning, comfortable chairs and cool views of the sand dunes along the way.

Grabbed some authentic Peruvian food for dinner and then headed over to one of the many casinos in Lima to check out the scene
Couple of drinks at the Museo de Pisco, had some Pisco Sours in the birthplace of the drink
Started the morning by checking out Lima, the older parts of the city. Lots of old buildings and street performances in the old quarter.

3 June 2017

Explored the Larcomar District this evening, amazing seaside views up in a cliff with a beautiful shopping mall alongside.
Grabbed some sandwiches near the Miraflores District while checking out the evening markets
Watched the Real Madrid win the Champions League final at a sports hub in Miraflores, Lima. Amazing energy during the game from fans on both sides.
Great start checking out Lima, cool bus ride to the main area in the city!
