Veigné, France (Our Chàteau stay)

2 May 2018

Today was a cruisy last morning before we were headed off to our next destination! I ordered an espresso to our room which was so good, as it’s such a small hotel you can have your drinks anywhere and they don’t charge like hotels do for room service (but they still charge for everything else). We left fairly early and our next stop... La Palmyre! Another camp!

Today we went exploring! We found many chàteau’s (funny that, since is nicknamed Chàteau valley haha). But we saw the most beautiful one we’ve seen which is name Cinderella Castle - it sure does look like something from a fairy tail. After lunch we toured around a bit more taking in the sights - stunning bridges and rivers being plentiful! We got back to the chateau and wandered around and had a drink outside while the kids played. It was a lovely afternoon. We decided to take the kids to McDonalds for a treat for dinner. They had fun playing on the playground and we had fun seeing how well run the McDonald’s are over here! Soon it was back to our room to chill out. The kids had baths and loved putting on the robes... even though they were miles too big! It was our last night in the beautiful Chateau tonight.

We were so excited to arrive at our very own castle for the night. I’d spent hours pouring over pages of chateaus to decide and this one caught my eye the most. Pulling up, it was clear Domaine de la Tortinière was going to be an amazing experience. We were greeted warmly and taken to our room. The staircase was creaky and on a huge lean, adding to the character. Our room was incredible. They’d really made it ours with beds set up for the kids, a cot for Indi which she was excited about! Also, welcome drinks which we happily devoured! As we arrived in the afternoon we just chilled and I went for a walk around the grounds. The grounds were amazing but it was drizzling. We decided to eat at the restaurant downstairs. It was probably one of my most memorable meals yet. The food was so great and they were so welcoming of the kids. Indi got to wear her Minnie dress which she was happy about, mind you it’s now hard to get off her! Dessert was amazing, we probably need to stop that!
