Thailand here we come!

23 September 2016

Chiang Rai Overnight stopover in Chiang Rai to bid farewell to Thailand before venturing into Laos. Oh and we went for an Indian which was amazing 💗 don't think Jack has ever eaten so fast! Thailand has been an absolute pleasure and we look forward to our return, but for now...Laos here we come!

Scooter time! So today we rented bikes for the first time and are loving it! Pai is the most perfect place, definitely a highlight of the trip 🏍🏍 Went exploring on our bikes and loved every second. We even braved going for a swim in the muddy looking waterfall. Note to self, must buy a bike one day!
Pai, Northern Thailand Home sweet home! Today we join the Pai circus hostel! So much fun here. We met a great group of people and drank the night away. Hula hoops, juggling, swimming and tight rope walking amongst these beautiful views. Can't complain.

Mud bath! As if the day couldn't get any better I also got to get down and dirty with the elephants! The mud bath turned into a mud fight following by a much needed wash in the waterfall! The elephants loved it, lying on their backs kicking their feet while we scrubbed them clean. As for the mud, im not sure how much was mud and how much was dung but if all made for a funnier experience. Perfect day.

Best day ever!!! Absolutely loved today! Had the chance to get up close and personal with these majestic animals. After hours of research I finally managed to find an ethical elephant experience I was happy to visit. We spent the day at the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary and had an absolutely amazing time! The place is a brilliant home for these rescue elephants and I feel so lucky to have spent the day with them. I don't think I stopped smiling all day 😍🐘

Waterfall, Chiang Mai Visited this beautiful piece of nature today. Decided to Tuk Tuk there and walk back. 4 miles later in the beating sun we started to regret the walk! Time for a beer.
Tuk tuk time! Easiest way to navigate through the chaos in Thailand.

Date night Quiet night in for two traveller style! It may not look like much but it's heaven right now!
Au Naturale Humidity + thick hair = even bigger hair!
Meditation And relax...managed to find a quiet spot in the temple to reflect. Jack gave it a try and lasted all of 2 seconds before deciding "all this hippie crap isn't for me".
Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai Visited the Doi Suthep temple on the top of a hill, amazing views and beautiful place.
Songthaew, Chiang Mai Arrived in Chiang Mai after being rocked to sleep on the super comfortable night train. Already in love with this place! Local transport in Chiang Mai is in the form of a converted pick up truck. Bumpy but convenient.

Face like plastic Another drunken night in Bangkok. Met this guy who had a face like a doll, no surprises in Asia.
Sweet dreams Our makeshift bed! Only in Asia.
Thai Massage Ouch!!! I am not designed to be twisted into those positions nor should my bones crack that loudly! Never again!
Drunken fun, Khao San Road Buckets of vodka redbull and dancing on the street in the rain...typical night in Bangkok!
Must see These bracelets are everywhere here, so funny 😂
Asian vibe! Totally enchanted by the lights, sights and sounds of this bustling city 😍 Although the same can't be said for the smells. If you see durian fruit you have to hold your breath, its smells so bad it's illegal to take it on public transport 😷🤐🙊
Shower time! Woke up to this...dancing in the rain makes for grubby toes!

South East Asia we have arrived! Finally landed in Bangkok after a long and tiring journey from Africa! First impressions....temples, tuk tuks and street food. Danced the night away typical traveller style after numerous buckets of vodka redbull on Khao San road followed by a street kebab 👌
