First day by myself exploring Auckland. Had some breaki and then got the bus from down the road to the Britomart in town.
Started by walking towards the harbour, even though I saw it on the bicycle yesterday, I walked towards Princess quey. It was super windy and actually very boring cold.
Then started walking up Queens street which was much steeper than I thought! Ended up being a hike along the road. Along the way I stopped at a few shops and did some browsing. I stopped to sit in Albert park

It’s a sunny day today but still windy! We dropped Keira off at the dentist and went to get a muffin and coffee before we were going to start our cycle to the Auckland bridge.
We cycled along the harbour and past the wharf, the cycling lanes are very cool and they are trying to put more around the city. The city is very hilly though so it’s a proper work out cycling anywhere other than along the coast.
So great to be moving and doing some exercise again! It was approximately a 10km cycle.
For lunch we went to a Japanese restaurant and each had a hot pot, so delicious and needed to warm my belly!
The rest of the day was very chilled and I continued to do my research for the road trip!

First day in Auckland and it’s much colder than Thailand! As grateful as I am for the reprieve from the heat and humidity, I needed warmer jackets. Aunt Jackie let me barrow Niamh’s jackets.
Robin and Jackie took me to Cornwall Park, “One Tree Hill” and we walked to the monument which gave a beautiful view of Auckland city, making Auckland look flat.
The land on the extinct volcano is used as farm land, so there are sheep and cattle grazing on the slopes.
It was a beautiful clear day, just windy.
The rest of the day was spent chilling in the house and planning my road trip and things to do in Auckland.
This evening I joined Niamh and Kiera at their climbing to try out a few climbs. They definitely made it look a lot easier than it is! Core strength should not be taken for granted and it’s great to get some upper body strength!

Landed in Sydney airport and exchanged some money to get a smoothie, walked around the airport and then chilled waiting to fly to New Zealand. So excited to finally get to the country!
