Jessica, Willow & Dez. LUSSAC 2017

26 August 2017

Thursday 24 August I think they had a reasonable night in a better room than their last stay? Darcy had had an accident on Willows bed. Oops. They have the last leg in France, then the Chunnel, then the home straight. But when they get home they have freezer gate to deal with! Dez using all his wisdom didn't turn the water off when they left ๐Ÿ’งHe turned the electricity off!! It doesn't take much of an imagination to work out what they are going to face once they get home? I think they have been trying not to think about it while on holiday with us. But it must of been lurking in the back of their mind. Now the reality hits & they are going to have to deal with all its stink & mess! Poor things, their holiday didn't start well & certainly was not kind to them for the end of it either. I can only hope that their time in France was as enjoyable for them as we hoped it would be. & their memories of the visit was not tarnished too greatly by the beginning & end of their trip?! X x ๐Ÿ‡ซ?
Wednesday 23 August A good nights sleep was had by all. I for one am feeling a little sad this morning though I'm putting on a brave face. ๐Ÿ™ David went off to work early but came back to have breakfast with everyone then went back to work after saying his goodbyes ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป The car was packed. Darcy was in her cage. Willow was in her car seat. & the car would not start! ๐Ÿšจ All out to try to push start the car. The garage at the bottom of the street was on summer holiday. We had no option but to call David for help. He arrive with jump leads. He had tried to find some at work but after that proved to be fruitless he had to go to buy some. The only positive this morning was that they were going to the hotel at Champtocee & had no time restrictions ๐Ÿ•ž But their bad day didn't stop there! When they got to the hotel & went to relax on the beach they were approached by locals saying that dogs had died after being in the water!! After a frantic phone call they calmed down enough to enjoy pizza
Tuesday 22 August It is the penultimate day today! There is a bit of packing to do & dome organising. Jessica is going to leave as much as possible for David & I to take back to UK as the space in their car is quite limited. We spend as much time as possible in the garden around our bouts of packing. Which works out quite well as it is very hot today! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ This afternoon we have an appointment at the vet for Darcy to have her pet passport sorted. It all goes well & smoothly. There was no reason for any thing to go wrong. Our last supper tonight was a simple risotto. Maybe they are all fooded out? We don't need to watch the clock for bed time as it not an early start in the morning. So little wine & conversation was lovely ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿท X
Monday 21 August Today we need to do a little organising in readiness for the departure on Wednesday. We did a small supermarket trip with two trolleys ๐Ÿ›’ ๐Ÿ›’ Jessica & Dez go off on their own to get supplies for the trip home. Willow & I pick up goodies for home. The afternoon is spent enjoying the sun in the garden โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ‘ง๐ŸผThis evening we are going to have dinner at Le Grand Restaurant Du Lac ๐ŸดDavid has already booked a table just to make sure we get in as it is one of the few restaurants open on a Monday. When we arrived the sun was still up in full glory & there were lots of people still out enjoying the attractions around the lake. We chose a table outside under the cover of a canopy looking out over the lake. Dinner was wonderful. Willow did really well eating a pizza ๐Ÿ• & a chocolate dessert ๐ŸฉBy the time we finished eating the sun had set & it was still warm enough to enjoy the evening & have a stroll & a paddle along the beach. Is was a beautiful evening X
Sunday 20 August Dez is quite keen to see Libourne's market so today is the last opportunity to do this. We all set off on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning to Libourne. The market was as wonderful as always. We strolled round the market & the shops & Willow had a splash in the fountain ๐Ÿ’ฆ David provided at tour around St Emilion & Pomerol. We were lucky enough to see a heard of dear laying in a meadow enjoying the sunshine โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸฆŒ The rest of the day was at home enjoying the summer weather, garden, food & drink. Willow had a great time in the water ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿผ Darcy had fun running around & barking at the dogs that live on our road. A fun relaxing day building up the sun tan โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ™‚ X
Saturday 19 August It's the weekend so David is at home to enjoy some time with the holiday makers ๐Ÿ™‚ We all drove over to Les Artigues Du Lussac to pick up bread & pastries for breakfast. On the way we were lucky enough to see the Coypu ๐Ÿ€ Jessica & Dez have fallen in love with the chocolate Sรผisse. Now Jessica is determined to recreate them at home. David has asked for a recipient & Madame Baker has very kindly written it out for Jessica to take home. ๐Ÿ“ƒ๐Ÿ–‹ We had a lovely day in the garden enjoying the sun โ˜€๏ธ We suggested that we go to Crescendo for dinner this evening. Knowing that they did pizza that Willow would love & choice & quality would suite everyone! ๐Ÿดwe did have a bit of a joke about Morrisons Cafe, but the trip was a success. ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ•๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿฅž๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿท Another wonderful family day, could not ask for more ๐Ÿ™‚X x
Friday 19 August We woke to a slightly cloudy morning. I suggested that today would be the perfect day to drive over to St Emilion! It wasn't cool but it wasn't so hot that it would spoil the outing. We managed to park beside the police station & walked into the centre & headed straight to the Hostellerie du Pleasance It is always so tranquil when outside the walls is jam packed with tourists. We had coffee & cakes & enjoyed the private views over St Emilion โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ We had booked a table for 5 at Le Merronires ๐Ÿด๐ŸŒณ We suggested that Jessica & Dez went on their own & we would taxi them & babysit Willow. They accepted & went off all dressed up for the evening. They retuned home having had a lovely evening. They loved the food & drinks & had been well looked after by the staff. David had tried to pay but didn't get there in time! It was a relief to hear they had had such a lovely evening ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ™‚ X

25 August 2017

THURSDAY 18 AUGUST We knew it was going to be another hot day. Jessica wanted to buy a halti harness for Darcy ๐Ÿ• & maybe a little shopping ๐Ÿ› So we headed off to the shops as quickly as we could. We drove through Lussac so I could show them the market then to the pet store beside Carrefour. Luckily we found what she wanted & we also went to the lovely little fashion store Kai Kai? Where Jessica bought some makeup! On the way home we picked up bread & cakes from the Premier patisserie at St Emilion, then headed home for an afternoon of sunshine & playing in the pool. Everyone had a great time. Perfect family fun in the sun โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ I hope this holiday is what they were expecting. I'm so happy that they are all here & will do every thing I can to feed & water them & show them around our stunning patch of France. Dez seems to be loving the local foods & wines. Willow is very at home with this being her second visit. Jessica I hope is enjoying the sun & relaxed family holiday X
WEDNESDAY 16 AUGUST We have a good routine going now. First one up lets Darcy out & walks her round the garden for a poo & wee. Then she charges into each bedroom for a cuddle & makesher way to Jessica's bed. David is back to work today but he did do the breakfast run. We all ate together then waved David off as went to work. We are all hoping he can get home early? The weather looks as though it's going to be very hot today. So we set about trying to blow up the inflatable pool David bought in U.K. This turned out to be a bit of a job. After a couple of hours of trying various methods we took Jessica's original suggestion of using the hair dryer & it was up in minutes! ๐Ÿ˜‚ The pool, though not huge was a great hit. We also had Willows paddling pool out as well. The pool was a welcome sanctuary from the heat of the day. Lots of play in the sun trying to get a tan. Darcy entertained herself running round & barking at the dogs over the road. She had loads of fun ๐Ÿ• X

24 August 2017

TUESDAY 15 AUGUST Everyone woke happy & relaxed. Darcy was let out into the garden then joined Jessica & Dez in their bed. Willow had great fun waking me up & joining me for a cuddle. David went over to the patisserie in Articess de Lussac for the breakfast bread & pastries. As it is bank holiday in France today David has a day off! ๐Ÿ˜€ Dez was very impressed with the breakfast table. A little bit of everything kept everyone happy & nourished. David, Jessica, Willow, Dez & I went shopping to Carrefore to forage for exciting supplies, then Willow took everyone to Willows favourite cake shop ( feuillette). That visit was a huge success The rest of the day was spent relaxing in the garden, chatting & catching up on Dez's trip to Canada. It is so lovely having them here to visit. A big step for them to holiday with us! Not only are they using valuable holiday quota but they are also sharing that valuable time with us. It's been a good day. The weather has been lovely. Every one is happy
MOMDAY 14 AUGUST Poor things, they had a rough start to their holiday. I think if the had been closer to home at this point they might have turned round & called it a day! But they pulled up to the gate hot & bothered & ready for someone to take the Raines & deal with everything other than food & drink. ๐Ÿด๐Ÿท๐Ÿธ the table was laid & drinks poured & most of the upset was forgotten. The weather was warm & sunny with a little breeze to keep things just right. Willow was happy to be back at Lussac & Darcy was having a fabulous time running round the garden. I guess she could also smell the puppies from last time they were here. David managed to get home early, which was lovely for everyone. The afternoon was relaxed & dinner was fun having everyone round the table. Willow was as good as gold at bedtime as always. We had some time catching up on their travel troubles over the last couple of day. I think they were ok. After food, drinks & chat we were all ready for a good nights sleep ๐Ÿ›Œ

14 August 2017

MONDAY 14 AUGUST 2017 It seems like things are no better this morning for the travellers. Darcy did not want to settle at all through the night. Willow fell out of bed. Not much sleep was had by any of them. Once again they had problems finding food. I'm just hoping that the journey down to us is trouble free. Then once they arrive in Lussac they no longer need to take responsibility for anything. I hope thing start to get better & they relax. There is food & wine waiting. I can't wait to see them all. David is at a hatch at Montagne so won't see them till later on. I just hope I can calm them down. โค๏ธ
SUNDAY 13 AUGUST 2017 It all started well. They were up & in the car in good time. Even after taking Darcy for a walk. Their journey down to the tunnel was trouble free. They even made such good time that they were given an earlier departure. That been said the passport & customs were slow so that slowed them down a bit. But the excitement grew as they were first on the train. In all the time that David & I have done the trip we have only been on first once & that was recently. The journey down to the hotel was ok. But it started going down hill. There seemed to be a problem with the booking. Then there were no towels in the room. Then the couldn't find food & divided to drive 20km to a McDonalds. Poor things had a long hot journey with baby & dog on board. No one spoke English & they were tired, hot & hungry! They were frazzled. There seemed to be a problem with the hotel booking. No towels. & they couldn't fin food. Darcy was on bouncing beans & Willow was jumping for joy. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

13 August 2017

FRIDAY 11 AUGUST 2017 What a wonderful surprise we all had with Dez arriving home unannounced & 1 day early! They are going to have a busy couple of days, but they have an extra day now. So it should be a little less crazy for them. Dez wants to see his mum, they have to drop Oscar off at the hotel & I'm sure they have lots more to do! David & I are so excited waiting for them to arrive for their holiday. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐ŸŽ‰ David & I travelled to France yesterday. We will have time to settle in, do some cleaning, a little shopping, & get the grass cut. We are just asking for some nice weather & hope they have a great holiday.
THURSDAY 10 AUGUST 2017 It has been an agonising wait for Dez to return home from Canada. He has been away for 10 weeks. The troop started arriving back at base a week ago & Dez was in one of the first groups to fly back to base in the UK. It was exciting knowing he was back on home soil, but they were told they would have to wait till Friday 11 to be able to leave base. Lady Luck was on Dez's side. He arrived home in time for dinner a day early ( Thursday 10 August) Jessica had a physiotherapy appointment in Newark & Samantha was babysitting Willow at Hardwick close. Jessica & Dez's walked in the door at the same time. So much excitement in one little house! It must have been like Christmas. The only difference was no Christmas tree. They all had tea together then Samantha left them to carry on their celebration & went home to Sudbrook. What an unexpected end to what was going to be a very ordinary day. Jessica, Willow & Dez still have lots to do, fit Dez is home!

16 July 2017

Sunday 16 July 2017 After much planning & then the disappointment of having to cancel the holiday due to Dez's Canada trip. The holiday is now back on. We are all so excited that the holiday is going to happen. Willow has just returned from a holiday to France with Papa Dave & Nana which was a very unexpected & unplanned trip. Though it was a huge success for all. Willow is now looking forward to taking her mummy & Dez to all the lovely places she visited on her holiday ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿผ ๐ŸจThe Auberge de la Loire has been booked for 13 & 23 August for both their journeys. It will break their journey up & they should all have a fun time there. It is only 4 weeks until their trip to France & I can't tell you hoe excited I am. Dez is also looking forward to the trip. Jessica tells us it is all he talks about! Willow tells me she is not busy this weekend so she will be coming back to France. The translation of that I hope is she is excited to be returning to France ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท โค๏ธ
