Amy's travels to South East Asia

20 March 2018

Today we got up early again and booked spa for the afternoon! It was so amazing, we've heard so many good things about them here in Ubud so we thought we'd try out a petal bath!🌺🌸 It was so relaxing and very hot 😝 Afterwards we looked round the street market and I bought some little trinkets for my family, and there is also lots of boutique shops which were nice to browse around! For dinner we went to a really nice place and it was 10% off the bill so I got a starter and main for about a fiver and it was so yummy! Eva and I booked an activity for tomorrow so we had an early night ready to get up early πŸ‘πŸΌπŸš£πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸŠπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

19 March 2018

Today we're in ubud staying in Monkey Forest! There's monkeys everywhere we have to be careful of our stuffπŸ˜‚ We got up early and chilled by the pool for abit and in the afternoon we went to the BARC dog sanctuary where they look after stray dogs and vaccinate them - make them better and try to re home then! Best day ever!! They were all so lovely and there were so many of them! I donated some money because what they do is so incredible 🐢 We met a girl there and that evening we went for dinner with her - turns out she's been to the same places we have and met some of the same people we have too! Mad!

18 March 2018

We booked a fast boat back to the mainland and then a transfer to Ubud for today! Turns out it wasn't so fast - we got told to go to the boat company stall at 12pm - the boat then came at 2.30pm so we waited around for ages and then finally got on but it took longer than expected, and with the transfer from the port we got to Ubud at 7pm at night!! The transfer dropped us in the centre so we had to walk 20 minutes with our back packs to our place and we got lost doing it - smartπŸ˜‚ After checking in we went for a nice meal - it was so yummy and so cheap - bali food is gooooodπŸ˜†πŸ˜†

17 March 2018

Today we decided to chill as we knew it was silent day somewhere else but we had nothing planned as we weren't actually planning on being here in the first place! Went for a nice breakfast and we bought sun beds on the beach which included lunch.. was a fiver for the whole day and it was in such a nice location😍 Obviously we biked there instead of staying near the centre pointπŸ˜‚ Today we got VERY burnt whoops.. we were going to go out for St Patrick's day but the other two decided they didn't want to so we just went for dinner and went back and had a movie night.. we watched 50 first dates and the Blind Side sat on the sofaπŸ˜‚ Very cute πŸ˜‚

16 March 2018

Today we had to check out of our bungalows - we were going to leave the island today but we realised on the mainland it was a silence day that happens every year where you have to stay in your hotel or hostel all day but it wasn't happening in Gilli so we stayed longer! We had to check into another apartment that we booked - and we got free bikes with it 🚴 So off we went exploring! We found so many swings and got loads of photos, the bikes were pretty shocking and rusty though so at one point my chain came off and they were making such weird noises πŸ˜‚ we stopped for lunch at a sunset bar and I had a chicken satay dish πŸ‘… That afternoon we cycled around and then back the other way and found the turtle sanctuary where they were keeping the baby turtles until they were ready to be released in 6 months πŸ™ˆπŸ’Also went on a hunt to find ketchup for kathys hair to try and re die it - it went green from the chlorine πŸ˜‚ Dinner and drinks that night resorted to a HUGE pizza that we all shared ?

15 March 2018

Today me and eva went snorkelling 🐟🐠🦐🐬 We were on a boat with a random group of people and we got given flippers and a mask with a snorkel! Our first stop off point was the underwater sculpture and it was amazing! Second stop was turtle point - unfortunately we didn't swim with any but we saw them sitting below us on the floor 🐒The third stop off was a coral reef and we got loads of photos and saw loads of fish like puffa fish and nemos 🐑 The boat people were throwing bread into the water so the fish were surrounding us πŸ˜‚ We then stopped off at Gili Air for lunch and had some fried noodles with chicken and some mozzarella sticks πŸ˜† It was a tiring day swimming around all day but it was so worth it - only a fiver!! That night we went for a curry and had a chilled night in 😁

14 March 2018

Boat Party daaaaay 🍹 We got recommended to do this because apparently it is the 'best boat party in indonesia' - and it was really good! It cost us about £12 and we saw the sunset and went jumping off the boat in Lombok too - didn't get many photos from the day because wasn't on my phone as didn't want to lose it but we made loads of friends and had a good night afterwards 😁

13 March 2018

Today was a day to get our bearings - we chilled on the beach and the pool and explored around a bit to see what was available and what we could do! There is no cars on this island - everyone gets around either on bicycle or horse and cart 🐴 My lunch was so yummy - it was a vegetable chilli bowl 🍘β™₯️β™₯️β™₯️

12 March 2018

We woke up early and had some breakfast ready to go to Gili! The fast boat was playing such loud music on the top deck it was so funny, and we didn't think we were getting burnt because it was windy but little did we know later that day we had such awkward tan lines πŸ˜‚ We checked into our bungalow hut and it had a huge bed in with a bed on a top deck and outdoor bathroom - very cute! The food here is really healthy so for lunch I had an avocado and bread salad thing - was delicious πŸ‘… After chilling on the beach and drinking a long island ice tea, we went for dinner on the beach and went out for drinks that night - the night life wasn't as good as we hoped but it was still a good night! 🍷

11 March 2018

After a long bus journey and plane journey we made it to Bali and went straight to Padang Bai which is the port ready for Gilli T the next day! We stayed in a home stay for a fiver a night and it was average - we all had to stay in one double bed because the bed on the floor was infested with ants πŸ˜‚ We didn't do a lot, just went for dinner and booked a fast boat for the next morning to Gilli Trawangan! 😁

10 March 2018

➑️➑️➑️ Singapore! After a bus that said it would arrive at midday from 7am to arriving at 2.30pm... we rushed to universal studios that we booked the day before after checking into a not so great hostel for the same price as the apartment the night before πŸ˜‚ Universal was so fun we went on as many rides as we could and walked around - rain was on and off though!!β˜”οΈ That evening we went to the Gardens by the bay light show - it's a must see it was amazing 😍 Loud music with lights flashing to go with it - it was so clever how they did it! Afterwards we went to a rooftop bar! We tried to go to one in Kuala Lumpar but the age restrictions were so strict so we couldn't, so here we took the opportunity whilst we could! One drink turned into 3 drinks haha and we went home after a good night dancing πŸ’ƒπŸΌ

9 March 2018

Another day another apartment for Β£10πŸ˜‚ in reality we should have gone to singapore today but we decided we'd go the next day as it's so expensive to stay there! We went for a nando's and booked the bus to singapore and stuff to do in the day there, and a place in bali as we go there on Sunday! So today didn't consist of a lot but we organised stuff to do for the rest of the week! πŸ˜€

8 March 2018

Today we did the Patronas Twin Towers! 452m tall! The views were amazing at the top, felt like a proper tourist 😁 Our new apartment was a gem, little did we know there was an infinity pool and jacuzzi and sauna etc all on the floor below us with a gym, and we were only there for 2 nights so we made the most of the facilities whilst we could πŸ˜‚ legs are still hurting now from the squats πŸ™ We went to the supermarket and bought dinner as we were going to cook it tonight - ended up with a salad from the salad bar but at least it was healthyπŸ‘… That night Kathryn wasn't feeling great so Eva and I decided to go out and hit the nearest area good for going out! We made two girlfriends who were really nice and they got us into a club because they knew someone working there, normally you can't get in under 21 and we were in flip flops πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Oh well was such a good night though πŸ‘‘

7 March 2018

Cameron Highlands today! What a beautiful place 😍 We had an uber driver take us on the day trip - first stop was for some tea at a shop looking out over the highlands! Then we went strawberry picking and ate our bunch πŸ“Then we stopped for lunch and had noodles and it was so cheap like Β£1.50 for the whole meal! The viewpoint afterwards was the best for photos as you could see a massive panoramic view of the place! After another tea look around we went back - what a journey. So our driver hadn't had much sleep and he was falling asleep at the wheel swirving everywhere and speeding so we said we needed the toilet and got out at the petrol station and refused to get back in even though we were an hour away 😬 So he left us there, then we were asking around to use people's phones and finally this chinese person was on his way back from work and he took us back to a new apartment we booked free of charge! We payed him but shows good people are still in the world!! Our new apartment was 😍

6 March 2018

Woke up to a view 😍 We realised we had to check out at 12 so we asked to have the room for another night, and of course we got it yay πŸ˜€ Today we wanted a chill day and wanted to try out a rooftop pool! We heard it was really strict but we went straight up in the lift and pretended we were staying at the hotel πŸ˜‚ We had a glass of wine and some nachos so at least we were buying something so we could use the pool! The views were amazing from the top! After getting some photos, it started TIPPING it down - torrential rain! β˜”οΈ So we went shopping indoors as I needed some nicer clothes as my backpack consists of vests and shorts that are 4 years old πŸ˜‚ That night we went to a recommended Malaysian place called Madame Quan and had noodles 🍜 We also found an MandS and we were so happy and excited πŸ˜‚ We are only a 400m walk from the twin towers so we went to see it at night - we bought a mini camera lens that sticks onto your phone so you can see the whole tower and the pictures make it wor

5 March 2018

First day in Kuala Lumpar! After a night in china town we realised we didn't want to tag in that area - it's nice but far away from the town! We wandered to a local coffee house for breakfast mmmπŸ₯“πŸ³ First stop today was the butterfly park! There were thousands of them flying around everywhere, unfortunately none landed on us πŸ™πŸ¦‹ We then walked through the park and went to the aquarium! It was abit like the one in London but was still fun and had fun in the shop with the toy sloths πŸ˜‚ We then went for a nando's!!!!! Yeaaaaah missed you!! We also booked a random apartment late notice Β£12 each - when we got to it it was on the 45th floor of a massive block and we had a whole apartment with 3 double bed en suite rooms in it... for cheaper than hostels... hallelujah πŸ˜‚ The view was insane as well we could see such a good view of the city, felt like royalty πŸ˜‚ That night we went out to a local bar - we weren't really sure where to go so we stuck to one and made some friends and had drinks!

4 March 2018

After getting up early, we got a 5 hour bus and boat journey to the airport!!! We were abit early and we got through straight away so we had a lot of time to killπŸ˜‚ Got a trolley because our bags have gotten so heavy! Our flight was delayed by about an hour so we got to Kuala Lumpar at about half 11 at night, then we waited at the wrong bag conveyabelt for half an hour then a randomer came up to us like your bags are on the floor πŸ˜‚ then we booked an uber and it never turned up and there was so many cars and we spent an hour looking for it - so we gave up and spent loads on a taxi and finally got to our hotel in china town at 2amπŸ˜‚ successful!!

3 March 2018

Today consisted of not a lot πŸ˜‚ Toast for breakfast after getting up at lunch time, we went to a pool nearby which we could go in for free so we went swimming and chilled! We had to be up at 7am because we were leaving Thailand and heading to MALAYSIA!!!! Wish us luck.. boat, bus, then a plane all in one day 😬

2 March 2018

We did nothing today because it was the full moooooon party tonight 🌚 It's quite a rare occasion hence why Koh Phangan is packed when it's on! We took our on drinks to the beach so we didn't have to spend loads when we were there! We also got free paint from the hostel (how cute) and saved ourselves money so we painted ourselves πŸ˜‚ After eating a mexican chilli con carne which was so yummy and meeting Jaz and Simone, we headed to the beach - it was packed!! We were meant to meet our other friends from the tour but there was no way we were going to find them πŸ™We watched the sign get lit up with flames and randomly I started picking loads of bottles out of the sea because I didn't like how people dropped them in there.. random! We all danced the night awayπŸΎπŸ’ƒπŸΌ

1 March 2018

Eva and I got up super early to use the bikes before they ran out! We adventured to a random tree and got some amazing photos as it was about 8am and the water was so settled and no one was around! We found a cute place for breakfast - I had a bacon and egg muffin! πŸ₯“ We also found another beach and I tried to do the generic hair flick photo but it didn't quite look as majestic as I thought it would πŸ˜‚ p.s. met a really cute dog 🐢 We had to take the bikes back because check out was at 11 - then we headed to the south end of the island - Haad Rin! After chilling on the beach and me getting bored, Eva and I decided to get a jet ski for 20 minutes and it was so scary but so fun, she's done it before but I never have! Got some cool videos on the GoPro of us both screaming hahaπŸ‘€ That evening we met Simone and Jasmine who are friends from our tour when we first went on our travels! It was so nice to see them and catch up😊 When they left we then decided to go out and get drunk.. standardπŸ˜‚

28 February 2018

Whoooopsie guess what we did today πŸ›΅ Best thing i've done though (sorry mum)! Eva and I went on an adventure with our motorbikes - cost Β£6 to hire them for 24 hours 😬 We were like little grandmas on the road going slowly and carefully lolπŸ‘€ Firstly we found a secret beach which you had to walk through the water to get to the sand - the sand was in the middle of the water! We also found a few other beaches, but after going for a while we found a busier one and we stopped for a beer and met a pig 🐷 Then we went to a hilltop and climbed down loads of rocks to get to a viewpoint!🌴 After watching the sunset at Secret Beach which was beautiful! And going to a random pizza place on the side of the road for dinner - we called it a day and played cards with the friends we made at the hostel 😁

27 February 2018

➑️➑️Koh Phangan! Today we arrived at our little getaway place where we can chill out for a couple of days - it's bliss here! We're in a mini bungalow with two double beds in at a hostel resort thing, there's a swimming pool, bar etc and it's really chilled! We had a sharing platter for lunch between the 3 of us and it was huge πŸ˜‚ After watching the sun setting at the quietest beach we've been to so far about 1 minute down a hill, we chilled and had dinner and made a few friends at the bar who we had a beer with before bed! 🍺

26 February 2018

More food today as usual - a bacon and egg club sandwich for about Β£3 and it was yummmmmy!!πŸ‘… Today we sat on the beach for about two hours as we were abit stuck what to do because we weren't expecting to still be here! I fell asleep and got burnt whoops😬 After booking a boat to Koh Phangan for tomorrow and showering, we decided to head to the fishermans village! It was a boutiquey small town which was cute to walk around - we stopped for pasta for dinner at a restaurant looking out onto the water which was lovely, and then headed to the night market afterwards and had a gander at the shops and trinkets that were on offer πŸ’

25 February 2018

Today we visited the Na Muang Waterfall! It was so pretty here, the rocks were a purple colour which is what it's known for and we went swimming in the lagoon area beneath itπŸ’¦ We obviously got lots of photos!!! It wasn't that much of a walk to it either but to get to the other side it was a task and a half to try and go around all the rocks and step across everything! We arrived back at Chaweng beach and we thought.. it's sunday... we deserve a roastπŸ˜‚ best meal yet I have to say πŸ’ͺ🏽 That night we went out as we thought it would be our last night here in Koh Samui! Turns out we booked a boat to Koh Tao for nothing because there's so much dodgy business and weird stuff going on there we got advised not to go so we decided we would give that a miss and have to book somewhere in Koh Samui again for tomorrow night 😬🍷

24 February 2018

I had a lie in yessss!!!! Finally! Didn't do a lot today hence why there's no photos. This evening we went to The Dukes Pub and I ordered BBQ ribs as they were on offer, best meal yet πŸ˜πŸ‘… When we were in phuket we made friends with the two girls that we shared a hostel room with and they walked past where we were eating.. so random! In the end they came and ate with us and we chatted and ended up all getting an oil massage! They found it hilarious as they havnt had one here yetπŸ˜‚

23 February 2018

➑️➑️ Boat to Koh Samui! The weather was boiling but windy so not quite like Phi PhiπŸ˜‚ We treated ourselves to a hotel for 3 nights... only Β£8 a night and we have a triple room with our own bathroom, feels like luxury πŸ˜‚ We're in the town centre too which is a bonusπŸ’ͺ🏽 On Chaweng beach! After having chilli con carne (not as good as dads) for lunch at an irish pub we tried to sunbathe but gave up and went for some wines at a reggae bar 😬We also found a really cute dog and obviously we said hello! That night kathryn wasn't feeling great so Eva and I hit the beach bars, watched some fire shows and held some random iguanas 😁🦎

22 February 2018

So we set off for Krabi at 6.30am and got a van and a ferry thing which was basically a moving slab of concrete to the town πŸ˜‚ I woke up realising I had been bitten by bed bugs in the previous hostel and not mosquitos πŸ˜’ Very attractive! We stopped for lunch at a really nice cafe, I had a banana and strawberry smoothie πŸ“πŸŒ and a chicken katsu curry it was so yummy 😍 Kathryn felt ill but seeing as we were only in Krabi for one day, Eva and I decided to hire a boat tour to ourselves and go down the river! We stopped off at a cave and saw some monkeys πŸ’ And we went through a forest of mangroves which was cool 🌴 We then went to a fish farm and saw loads of different types of fish from big shark looking like ones to little puffa fishes 🐑 That night we went to a mexican and I've never tasted anything like it, it was amazing 😍 We shared nachos and I had a chicken quesadilla πŸ‘…

21 February 2018

So today we got up and had some breakfast at our hostel (first one ever included in the prices of the hostels so far wooh!!) and we got on with some booking ✈️ At the moment we're planning about 2 days ahead ish or not even the next day ahead but we needed to do some booking for when we finish the Thai islands and go to other countries πŸ˜‚ In the end took us about 3 hours to book 2 flights and a bus and plan dates and research πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ So what did we do to reward ourselves? Get a glass of wine as big as my head πŸ˜‚πŸ· Sunbathed and ate ice cream aswell 🍦Today and yesterday I have been eaten alive on my legs i'm not sure if it's the bed or mosquitos in the bed or what but mosquito spray just isn't working and I put loads of cream on them and went out looking like I had a disease brilliant πŸ˜• We havnt explored much of koh lanta so we went for dinner at the old town on the other side of the island... everything was closed just a few restaurants so we stopped there, ate and went on a swing😁

20 February 2018

➑️➑️➑️ Ko Lanta we made it πŸ’ͺ🏽 We got to the island not having booked a hostel for the night so we were abit worried as we got off the boatπŸ˜‚ Thankfully a lady came up to us and helped us, took us to long beach to a road with so many hostels on it so we jumped off the tuc tuc and thankfully found one which had 3 spare beds! I'm currently in a dorm room of 12 people all bunk beds πŸ˜‚ We went for a cute lunch, food wasn't great but looked good so that's all the matters for the picture eh? Sat in a hammock, went for a walk, looked at some flights for our further trip and tried to roughly plan where we will be when but didn't manage to book anything πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈAlways tomorrow I guess! Ko Lanta is known for being chilled and a relaxing area so that's our plan!! Staying here another night then we are off to the east side of the islands of south Thailand!! πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡

19 February 2018

After booking a boat trip the night before we had to get up early quickly get breakfast and get ready for the boat partyπŸ˜‚ troopers πŸ’ͺ🏽 We went to Maya Bay which was so beautiful and the back sight seeing point which was infested by snakes - apparently if you go in the water there and get bitten you have about two hours to live πŸ˜• It was also where the movie the beach was filmed! Leonardo where you at?? We also got caught in a storm so went into a bay and jumped off the boat, did snorkelling and swimming in the pouring rain β˜”οΈ the water was warmer than the air πŸ˜‚ We also went to monkey beach and literally monkeys were jumping all over me, got some photos before they jumped off me πŸ’ After watching the sunset and making some new friends, we went back to the hostel got changed, then went out for the second time woohπŸŒ… Was basically a repeat of the first night but it was still amazing 😬 The free bar on the boat went down wellπŸ˜‚

18 February 2018

I missed you avocado!!!!! Lovely breakfast bacon and poached eggs mmm😍 Today we chilled and got our tan on ofcourse 🌟Took some nice photos of the water and went swimming a lot because it was so hot! At about 4pm ish we went to a pool party which was right on the beach front and the night went on from there!!! Didn't even go back to the hostel to change just went out natural πŸ˜‚ Didn't get any photos but was such a fun night 🍻

17 February 2018

➑️➑️➑️Koh Phi Phi!!!! Woweeeee 😍 Pictures don't show how pretty this place is 😞 We got an hour and a half boat trip here and had to walk in the scorching heat with our backpacks on across the beach to our hostelπŸ˜‚ bonus is the hostel is right on the beach though 🌊 We chilled today and got our bearings, looked around at boat trips to book for 2 days time 🚣🏽 On our way back from dinner we saw a fire show it was mad, what they could do was insane πŸ”₯ watched that for ages then went to bed as i'm on antibiotics but stopping them tomorrow so I will save drinking until then πŸ˜‚

16 February 2018

After waking up from a horrendous night, I went to the doctors with Kathryn and Eva and got many drugs, rehydration drink and an injection in my bum all for Β£50 - it better work πŸ˜‚ We were going to go to the Phi Phi Islands today but I wasn't sure how I would be on a boat so we stayed in Phuket an extra night - there was no room in the town centre so we went for paradise beach which is more remote out of town🌟 It's sooo pretty here 😍 Β£11 for a night but with your own private beach and a friendly dog walking around that you can swim with is always a bonus πŸ˜‚ Also walked up a hill 2 minutes and saw the sunset πŸŒ… Still not feeling great now but what an amazing place paradise beach is 🌴

15 February 2018

So today I had a lovely banana and nutella pancake for breakfast 🍌 andddddddd it came back upπŸ˜“ yes i'm very ill!!! I sat in the shade at the beach and bought a plastic lie down chair which blows up with the wind because I felt sorry for myself and it was so comfy 😍 best purchase so far πŸ˜‚ had to go back early though as I did not feel well and was not through the night.. just my luck!!

14 February 2018

Made it to Phuket 🌴 After trying and failing to barter with the taxi drivers we had to settle with their price and headed to Patong Beach 🏊 wowowow it was booooilingβ˜€οΈ Kathryn was still ill from the bus and god knows what else so Eva and I went to catch some rays! And catch some burn whoops πŸ˜• We bought some tomato soup trying to budget - 90 baht which is about Β£2 - tasted like a cupasoup wasn't the best πŸ˜‚ After chilling and showering, Eva and I went to get some dinner and we sat by the beach people watching and eating when we came across a girl talking to an old man for ages. After seeing her sign saying 'I will listen' I went over to her to ask why she was doing this and she is basically in a christian group from America trying to help people in different countries to tell people they arnt alone and there is always someone to talk to, also to talk to girls about sex trafficking and trying to help them near the clubs - I wished her luck - what a lovely girl 🌟🌸

13 February 2018

Last day in Bangkok! We said bye to the group πŸ˜“ What an amazing month though with so many memories and many amazing friends made! Trying to find a place to eat brunch was challenging next to a main road, so we gave up and resorted to McDonaldsπŸ˜‚ first one in a month though!!!πŸ‘€πŸŸ We had booked an overnight train to Phuket at 7.30pm (for Β£15 instead of a flight for Β£80 #budgeting) so we met Laura a girl from our group that left because she was sick - was lovely to see her πŸŽ‰ The train that night was interesting....the taxi couldn't drop us there for some reason so we had to walk 10 minutes along a road to the bus station all sweaty and hot because our bags are so heavy πŸ˜‚ our friend Kathryn who is coming with us was ill all night bless her stuck on a bus for 13 hours sitting next to a randomer, I had stomach cramps and also none of us could sleep because a man was snoring SO loudly ALL night I was shouting shut up but he didn't πŸ˜• so overall not great πŸ˜‚an experience though, maybe not

12 February 2018

We got woken up at 5.30 by the train operator after a restless sleep and turns out we didn't get into bangkok until an hour after πŸ˜‚ It was too early for check in at the last hotel so we went to the mall and did abit of shopping - bought a fake eyeshadow palette for like Β£2 because I miss my nice eyeshadows from home πŸ˜‚ also a salad box trying to be healthy πŸ˜• the weather is so hot which makes in unbearable to walk around β˜€οΈ Kathryn Eva and I tried to find a pool to chill by and we got turned away by a hotel πŸ˜‚ Given up... we started to get ready for our last night πŸŽ‰ After a photo shoot and an hours chat with the CEO we ventured to a restaurant where I had noodles (i'm now on a budget else I would have got western foodπŸ˜‚) and there was a carp fish pond where they sucked your finger if you stuck it in the water lol 🐟 Night out drinking buckets and dancing, ended the group tour with a bang 🍾

11 February 2018

Today we visited Chang Mai elephant sanctury😍 What an experience!!! My new favourite animal now 😍 🐘 We got given some wacky outfits to wear don't worry I didn't choose it myself πŸ˜‚ They are such chilled out animals even though they are on the top 5 dangerous animals in the world. The sanctuary buys the elephants from poor conditions and is an ethical place - they take them for walks and let them roam around and don't let anyone ride them because if they did it would break their backs. They seemed so happy and content and loved a banana 🍌 They are massive creatures!! But friendly giants❀️ We took them for a walk and also washed them in a pool 🏊 i've got some really good pics on my go pro as well πŸŽ₯ We got back to the hotel and sunbathed until it was ready for the sleeper train which wasn't like the other ones it was like chairs that folded out into beds was very random πŸ˜‚ but omg what a morning!!! 🐘 ready for Bangkok for our tour to be finally over with the group πŸ™πŸŒΈ

10 February 2018

Up at half 5am ready for our 6 hour journey to Chang Mai! I bought breakfast the night before - cornflakes with milk in a mug from the roomπŸ‘ŒπŸ»We were in a really nice van so I had 3 seats to myself which meant I could use it as a bed, I had a good napπŸ˜‚ On route we visited the White Temple! It was built as a tourist attraction in 1997. It is made out of marble and stone and the sparkles are glass ✨You can only enter it through the front and you can't turn back around because the aim of it is you pass hell and go up to heaven when walking 😬 Inside there were beautiful paintings and random ones at that.. king fu panda, Micheal Jackson, Bumblebee from transformers etc. all painted on the wall to represent the 20th Century and what has happened in it! When we got to the hotel finally it was really nice weather so we sunbathed β˜€οΈ That evening we went to the boxing.. 6 rounds with all different types of people, it was intense πŸ˜‚πŸ₯Š After drinks we went home as we had a special day tomorrow

9 February 2018

I didn't take that many photos today because we were on a boat again all day πŸ˜‚ Time passed with slaps, solitaire, rummy, napping, playing football with a squished plastic bottle... after about 11 hours we made it to the Thailand border! After bribing them a dollar to get out of Laos, we made it to Chang Khong and stayed in a guest house about 20 minutes from the border! Buffet dinner and drinks went down well, finally some mash potato🀣

8 February 2018

The boat was actually really nice - obviously no wifi so we spent the time writing our journals, napping and playing cards! On the way we went past a sinking boat which was carrying concrete it was so sad that would have been someone's life's work on that boat πŸ™ at 5pm we finally arrived at banpakngum village! It has a population of about 325 people consisting of 3 tribes! They moved from the jungle and made their own community with people of all ages. They fish in the mekong river for food and they have to pay for the children to go to the city if they want them to get an education. We all handed out books and pens to the kids as they lined up - it doesn't seem like a lot but they were so greatful! The teenagers way of fun is playing volleyball where they can only use their feet knees and head to hit the ball. 🏐 We saw so many puppies aswell 🐢 Sleeping on the floor in a mosquito net wasn't the best but it is so interesting to experience their way of life and how they live it.

7 February 2018

Today we went trekking with a local tour guide! We got a truck which we sat in the back of open roof (very safe I know) to a local village and we visited a school and said hello to the children πŸ‘« It was intriguing how different they live to us at home. We then walked 3 hours through the jungle to the kuang si waterfall 😍 there were black bears there that were rescued and we went swimming in the lagoon area! The waterfall was so prettyyyy🌸 My little legs struggled with the walking but I did it and the scenery was so beautiful - mum you better be proud πŸ˜‚ Were getting an early night tonight because tomorrow we have a 9 hour BOAT journey to a home stay on a random island - wish us luck πŸ˜‚

➑️➑️➑️➑️ Luang Prabang!!! 7 hour coach journey - slept most the way 😴 stopped off on the way for a coffee and met some really cute dogs as usual 🐢 we are staying in the treasure plaza hotel and it's veeeeery nice😝 We went to see the sunset that night and had to walk nearly 400 steps to get to the topπŸ’ͺπŸ½πŸŒ… Afterwards we ventured for dinner and went to the night market! Bought a few souvenirs and got a beaaaautiful tasting chocolate nutty browny it was so fluffy and freshly baked omg 😍 early night for us as we were going to have a busy day the next day trekking!! πŸšΆπŸ½β€β™€οΈ

5 February 2018

Early rise for an action packed adventure day!!!🚣🏽 Kayaking down the river for 8km with calm areas and rapid areas led us to the zip line centre! I love things like go ape so I was having a blast!!! We then had lunch (rice of courseπŸ›) and then we went tubing - which was abit odd! We floated in a rubber ring into a cave and then had torched on our head walking through a pitch black cave through small holes and slippy floors with spiders on them πŸ•· was abit claustrophobic😬 We then went to the blue lagoon and went for a swimπŸ¦‹ We were all knackered so a quick dinner and trip to the night market was shortly followed by bed πŸ’€

4 February 2018

A group of us work up early today to do a touristy tuc tuc ride and drop into Vientiane πŸ‡±πŸ‡¦We visited the Wat Sisaket first which is a famous buddhist temple in Laos, housing over 2000 buddha images! We then went to the Patuxai which clearly resembled the Arc du Triumph - we climbed to the top of it and got a photo with a monk and got some good view pics πŸƒ Then the Pha That Luang which is the golden structure sooooo beautiful! And then Cope visitors centre which was established to provide medical treatment, prosthetics and mobility devices to people who can't afford them and helps treat victims of UXOs (bombers) that still are hidden in the group in laos πŸ™ It's amazing what they do there! Gave a donation because it didn't cost to get in and it goes to a good cause πŸ˜ƒ That afternoon we had a 4 hour bus journey to Vang Vieng where we had dinner and went for drinks 🍹🍻

3 February 2018

After an early rise and the shortest flight ever we made it to Vientiane in Laos!! 🌴 We rushed to the hotel restaurant to get food as we were starving - more carbs for me I had carbonara πŸ˜ƒ Were now using the Laos currency so we have to get our heads around that too which is tricky compared to vietnam dong which is what we're used to πŸ’°We decided that we would do the temples tomorrow so we chilled by the pool until dinner time! We got a shuttle bus to the centre of the city - it wasn't as crowded and city like as I thought though! We went to a nice restaurant and came back afterwards and now I'm in bed all sleepy 😴 I also have a gammy red eye which doesn't help - always getting eye infections just my luck it happens here!!πŸ™ƒπŸ™

2 February 2018

Today was our last day in Hanoi and it was a free day - we walked around the lake (bit of exercise for onceπŸšΆπŸ½β€β™€οΈ) and we stopped for a drink at 'The Coffee House' β˜•οΈ I had a chocolate ice something or other and the green drink is kathyrn's green tea macchiato πŸƒ We also visited Hoa Lo prison which was used by the french colonists in Vietnam for political prisoners, and later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the Vietnam War! It was very interesting but kind of spooky!! We finished of the night by trying out a Vietnamese speciality - the hot pot! You basically cook your own food on the table so cook the raw meat and noodles and add your own vegetables - hopefully we cooked it well enough I guess we'll find out tonight πŸ˜‚ In bed now ready for a 5.30am start tomorrow for our plane to laos ✈️

1 February 2018

➑️➑️➑️ Hanoi!!! We stopped off at a pearl factory on the way and saw them extracting a pearl from an oyster πŸ‘€ was tempted to buy something but I stopped myself as need to save moneyπŸ˜‚ Lovely boutique hotelπŸƒ Went for a beer with eva on a roadside cafe and then had sesame seed shrimp mmm was so yummy 🦐 We had a mooch around and walked past the kien lake but we will explore more of that tomorrow πŸ€™πŸΌ After a nap, we went for some dinner and drinks and then went out with the group to a bar - oh yeah and found a sausage dog on the way called Boo πŸ˜‚πŸΆ

31 January 2018

Halong Bay!!!🐳🐟🐠🌴 What an amazing place 😍 Despite the windy and cold weather from the North we still managed to kayak and get some decent photos πŸ˜‚ We visited a huge cave and went kayaking in a lagoon; it was so peaceful despite the weather! Leaving tomorrow but wow what a day😜😍

30 January 2018

Breakfast at a cute bar called 'Are you tipsy yet?' - odd name and no we had orange juice not alcohol 😜 I got covered in mosquito bites last night and now keep overthinking I have malaria, obviously don't but always a thought πŸ˜‚ time for another overnight train! This time to Halong Bay 🌴🐳 15 hours this time on it, wish us luck 🀞🏼

29 January 2018

Hoi An ➑️ Hue (pronounced 'hoi')😜 - our first hostel stay! It was clean and chic looking, a room of 5 of us in bunk beds but later did I find out it was infested with mosquitos and I am now covered in bites head to toe πŸ˜–It was tipping it down with rain from the second we got here so we decided to go for a hot stone massage (only $10 bargain) - we went to a karaoke bare for dinner and I sang sweet caroline - didn't realise how tone deaf I amπŸ˜‚ we then had drinks at the hostel bar and chilled and had a good time! Also Laura and I found a cute puppy and very much wanted to steal it 🐢

28 January 2018

Morning of day 2 in Hoi An - noodle making class - it was called oodles of noodles!🍜 It is a programme funded by g adventures which gets kids and youngsters from poverty and gives them an oppertunity to learn english and learn skills and cooking skills so they can go into the catering and hospitality industry! Some have gone onto 5 star restaurants and it goes to a really good cause. We then went on a bike ride. It was beautiful sunshine so perfect weather - we saw water buffalo, Vietnamese fishing where they catch them in baskets in their little pools, and then we went in bamboo baskets to coconut island - they were like small bowls that you floated around in the water in🌴 We also met the oldest couple ever they were 95 years old and 92 and have been married for 75 years!! they looked so happy and she kept stroking his beardπŸ˜„πŸ‘«

27 January 2018

➑️➑️➑️ Hoi An = shopping central! My favourite place so far ✨ There are lanterns everywhere and they're all lit up at night it's so pretty😍 Tailoring shops galore also! Someone in our group an older person got two suits and shirts and shoes made for him and shipped them homeπŸ˜‚πŸ˜¬ Hoi An reminds me of an old spanish town - really pretty and everyone's so friendly πŸ˜ƒ

26 January 2018

Today was a beach and chill day - went went somewhere really cheap but nice and boutique like for brekky! Ready for the overnight train that night.. again! πŸš‚ Bed bug creatures were obviously found in our beds, but this one had no plugs to charge anything - even better πŸ˜‚ all about the experience though!!!

25 January 2018

Nha Trang ✨ sour dough, bacon, fried banana, humous, egg and salad ---- breakfast made up for the cockroach infested night on the train! Soaked in the sun that day until about 3pm, got burnt obviously, and then we went for a mud bath! We had to shower off then bathe in mud then sit in a hot jacuzzi then went swimming in warm pools - very odd! Spent the night dancing with everyone at a bar called the Sailing ClubπŸŒ…

24 January 2018

Woke up with the WORST CRAMP EVER! ➑️➑️went to the underground tunnels from the viatnamese war that they used to hide and shelter and move around in. Also shot an AK47 from the war but 9$ for 5 bullets whoops 😬 We also went into the tunnels and I didn't realise how small they would be - I scraped my arm on the side of it and at one point was on my hands and knees because squatting the whole way just wasn't working - only made it half wayπŸ˜‚ The free time in the afternoon was spent at the food market and street market where I bought some cute elephant shorts 🐘➑️➑️ Overnight train for 11 hours πŸ˜¬πŸ˜„

23 January 2018

Up at 5.45am to leave at 6.30am for the floating markets which these random small boats would attach themselves to our boat and try and sell you fruit and coffee!! We got off and watched a family run business noodle making demonstration which was interesting, and we also met loads of dogs which obviously we paid a lot of attention to (maybe too much)πŸ˜‚ After a bit of karaoke from justin and harry on the boat - coach to ➑️➑️➑️ Ho Chi Minch City! The football had just been on and vietnam won so the whole streets were full of bikes with flags and shouting vietnamese people jam packed everyone celebrating it was a once in a lifetime sight! We ate street food at a really funky indoor market with a live band and then went for drinks at a bar - it was so crowded with happy vietnamese peopleπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

22 January 2018

Sihanoukville ➑️ Can Tho Mekong Delta for the Home Stay 😬 we met a dog at the cambodian border with 3 legs and we get it water and I gave it the cheese biscuits I bought and it looked so happy after naaaw πŸ˜„ after an 11 hour journey to Vietnam we ended up at this home stay which definitely put things into perspective into comparison to my life at home! The people were lovely and we stayed in these small beds with a mosquito net around it - we got bitten a lot and I stayed in a single bed with eva cause we were scared lol but in the end it was an experience and i'm glad I did it! And the beer helped the sleep πŸ˜‚

21 January 2018

snorkelling day πŸ³πŸ‹πŸŸπŸ πŸ¬ The boat was an old cambodian boat, we had a speaker from the guy that took us and we were playing some cool music and drinking beer on a secluded beach 😍 we also stopped off at a random part of the ocean, i took my go pro and got lots of photos, couldn't see many fish though but someone on the trip managed to get strapped by a sea urchin πŸ˜‘

20 January 2018

➑️➑️➑️ Sihanoukville. I got a baileys frappucino and a ceaser salad on the way there 😍😜 We went straight to the beach and got our tan on, bought some vodka buckets with orange juice in them for $5 and watched the sunset 🍸🍻

19 January 2018

Today we visited the Killing Fields and S21 prison. This was part of the cambodian genocide which i learnt so much about from the tour guide especially. The killing fields were hard hitting - mass graves covered in clothes still from the people that were buried in them, a mass grave of skulls on a display etc - was horrible but really put things into perspective. The S-21 prison is where they kept people before they got sent to the killing fields. This place was full of disgraceful conditions and mass torturing and killing, we even met a survivor - amazing man. He had his toe nails pulled off and whipped on his back, and he only survived because the khmer rouge realised he was a technician before they took over so he helped fix their type writers. I bought his book! it was 10 dollars but it helps him spread awareness of the past and educate people so it worth it bless him! Back at the hotel I fell on the concrete wet floor and whacked my head on the step...eventful!

18 January 2018

Siem Reap ➑️ Phnom Phen! Stopped off at a floating village on the way which was on the mouth leading to the Tonla Sap Lake! We all got horrendously burnt sitting on the roof of an open top bot - we were not ready for the sunπŸ˜‚ We stopped off at a beautiful place looking over the lake for lunch which had water buffalo roaming in it. I had chips as all our tummys were not feeling goodπŸ˜– insect market was also interesting - some people in our group ate dried tarantulas and there was kids following us with live ones πŸ˜‚

17 January 2018

4.30am met at the lobby to go and see one of the seven wonders of the world - Angkor Wat! A beautiful sunrise, monkeys, selfies, history - all in a few hours - was such a pretty sight! We then went to the Angkor Thom temple which is where tomb raider with lara croft was filmed! Was a long day as we went out that night and got drunk with everyone in our group but it was a blast πŸ’₯✨🍻

16 January 2018

Off to Cambodia!! We went on a sunset quad biking ride as soon as we got to Siem Reap which was amazing - took my GoPro and got such good videos of the sunset and driving through the old village. Also had my first ride in a tuc tuc on the way to New Hope which is a foundation that provides education for the children of Siem Reap - we had a lovely dinner there and some people tried tasting bugs ew😩 obviously the night had to be finished off with a a blue lagoon at pub street😜🍸

15 January 2018

We travelled to Bangkok and waited to meet our group that we will be with for a month! Everyone seems so lovely! Trying out the Thai food has been interesting - all seems to be rice and noodles!

14 January 2018

First night - arrived at about 11pm in Bangkok and stayed in a hotel 2 miles from the airport! Room service and wifi - off to bed!

13 January 2018
