Sonny and Winkie's Big Trip Overseas 2018

25 August 2018

Back into Melbourne after our Step Tour as we call it too many....

24 August 2018

Us at the top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai ...Floor 125 800 meters high...
Can clearly see the comparisons from new to old wealth to poverty...
Part of the tour was a ride on a San Pan lady driver too, took us around the little area where the boats were moored, it is called The Aberdeen area where they still go our fishing from.... You’ll notice one extreme to the other poverty to extreme wealth....some of the modern boats were unbelievable. $$$$$$++
Another tour our last on the trip, was great we learnt a lot about Hongkong shame the view was like it was but there had been a typhoon that caused the haze...

22 August 2018

We had a one hour cruise to see the lights on Victoria Harbour HongKong, we got more than the light show as there was lightning all around us as well...
On the tour we went to Tai O a fishing village built with stilt houses it was an eye opener coming from Dubai with so much wealth to an area with so much poverty...
The Buddhist Temple in Tai O the fishing village....
The Big Buddha he stands looking over Hongkong to bring them good luck... Cattle roam free there amazing peaceful place... Forgot to mention there are 10,000 Buddha’s on Lantau Island...
Went on a tour to Lanau island on the cable car 5.7 kilometres long. We were very brave lol...

21 August 2018

Some shots of HongKong street lights, plus a bar we found got friendly with the barman ended up with quite a few free drinks 😊😊👍👍🥂🥂🍻🍻 Ignore the photos it was a nice bar..🤣🤣
Our disaster of a room in HongKong stayed only one night couldn’t swing a cat around our caravan was bigger plus the area was terrible, changed now have a great room to finish off our trip.

20 August 2018

The entertainment system on board the Emirate planes.... had great fun even Sonny enjoyed it and had it down pat...
Dubai Airport amazing everything was stainless steel, heaps of shops and so well organised.... We flew with Emirates on a A380 two levels it was huge it holds about 853 people... when we flew into HongKong there was a lightening storm plus the airport was busy and we had to go into holding pattern for half an hour plus we could see lightening everywhere outside a little unnerving, so glad when we landed...

19 August 2018

There was a light show put on by The Dubai Mall got the video clip but can’t add to Journi unfortunately...
The indoor Ski area in the Mall of the Emirates
Did the hop on hop off bus up the top but it had aircon otherwise you wouldn’t be able to stand the heat, we had to change buses and had to wait sometimes up to 10-20minutes shade was of the utmost importance up to 41c plus humidity....
The Burg Al Arab.
The bus plus the Burg Khalifa in the backgound on photo 2...
We went up to the 125 floor of the Burg Khalifa, the views were out of this world, 800metres high, they are building another planed community plus another Burg that will be 1000 metres high...
We did a Harbour Cruise Dinner Cruise in Dubai...

18 August 2018

Sonny came out dressed for our night out in Dubai lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣cracked me up....
The view from our bedroom window in Dubai, we were spoilt... 😊😊
Our photos from the Aquarium in the Dubai Mall...
Photo’s of the Aquarium and the Underwater Zoo in the Dubai Mall... a must see...
The Dubai Mall was just around the corner from where we were staying it includes a Waterfall, an ice skating rink, plus an amazing Aquarium, also the lifts to the Burg Khalifa, and so many shops plus 160 places to eat plus great aircon as it was about 39c and so very very hot....

17 August 2018

We flew into Dubai with Emirates we were most impressed meals were great service terrific plus a great entertainment system on the plane Big screen plenty of leg room etc plus we were cattle class as they say... In photos 4,5 and 6 we stayed at The Dusit Thani you can see it in the last picture standing by itself the arched one... when we got there the receptionist said we were guests of the day and upgraded us to an Executive Suite it was amazing so much room 2 tv’s and the view was unbelievable of the Burg Khalifa...

16 August 2018

Visited the Colosseum so very hot we kept looking for shade we had a great tour guide who explained things really well, they had to clean out the sand 9 inches deep which covered the floor of the Colosseum (fighting area) everyday because of the stench of blood... They killed 40,000 animals a year over 5 decades, unbelievable so very barbaric and just for amusement... 😠😥😥
Some inside photos of St Peter’s Brascillica in the Vatican City it was out of this world opulent to say the least..
These photos and below are of The Vatican Museum, it was packed as the day before it was closed for Absumption Day you could hardly move plus it was about 36c as well plenty of water needed....
Did the obligatory hop on hop off bus tour of Rome it was hot and dirty didn’t like it...

15 August 2018

Were we stayed in Rome trying to keep our costs down not a good neighbour hood put me off at the start... it actually had an old lift that was very small and made me uneasy every time we had to go into it only 4 floors but that was enough for me... 😬😬 Check out the rubbish bins typical of everywhere we went no wonder we didn’t like it Sonny with major OCD me with not so major OCD 🤣🤣
Found this great Italian restaurant just around the corner from where we were staying went there 3 nights in a row the typical old family owned restaurant we had been looking for...
There was this great ice cream place just around the corner been in the same family forever three scoops for €3.20 euros for two. Ice creams amazing... the place was packed....

14 August 2018

Sonny put a towel up to the shutters in our Rome Air BnB so the light wouldn’t come in at night lol... it wasn’t in a very good area but near the underground railway station wasn’t easy getting into the city no one spoke English the ticket machines were automated 👎😠😬 It doesn’t look that dirty but it was actually disgusting we didn’t like Rome as it was filthy to say the least...👎👎
We took the train from Venice to Rome on the Frecciargento train which travels up to 250k the trip took about 4 hours....

12 August 2018

Katakolo (Greek: Κατάκολο) is a seaside town in the municipality of Pyrgos in western Elis, Greece. It is situated on a headland overlooking the Ionian Sea and separating the Gulf of Kyparissia from the rest of the Ionian. It is 11 km west of Pyrgos. The small village of Agios Andreas, which in ancient times was the natural harbour for Ancient Olympia, lies northwest of Katakolo. A railway connects Katakolo with Pyrgos and Olympia.[2].
