Samuel's 1/2 year abroad in Costa Rica

7 November 2017

Finally ! First time beach, already some weeks ago but still worth sharing this experience โ˜บ๏ธ. ~ I was invited by a friend or his friend ๐Ÿ˜„to come with them to his house. Very separated more or less in the wilderness but very tranquil and relaxed ๐Ÿ˜Ž. ~ Well one of the most important parts here is, was and will be the amazing BEACH (es) ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ. ~ So less talking, watch by yourself. ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ

Some time ago since the last post, too much time. Howsoever here we go with a new one ! ~ Very common here is the missionary work on sabbath afternoon. Either doing it in the Centre, going from house to house, collecting donations or doing it in the very poor โ€œslumsโ€. ~ Honestly Iโ€™m not the most talented man to do this but it has been worth every time so far. ~ A lot of fun and youโ€™re never aloneโ˜๐Ÿผ.

What you can see here is our trip to San Josรฉ ~ Turbulent City and Metropole of Costa Rica ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ท. ~ As well as Alajuela the next reachable city, also San Josรฉ is constructed and build like a chessboard. Makes it easy to navigate and maybe also easier to find places again. ~ There is also China Town, a bit surprising because the city isn't that big as it could seem. Big Centre but "only" roughly that big as Augsburg. ~ Nevertheless a must-see when you're here so why not. ~ The nice guys you can see on the photos are students living in the so-called "Hogar de Varones", in German: "Mรคnnerheim". Not that beautiful name ๐Ÿ˜•. ~ Next event on Friday !

This is the almost entire stuff of "Centro de Idiomas", in German: Sprachzentrum. That means, students who give class and earn money to pay their study costs ๐Ÿ’ฐ. Director of this center is the handsome and awesome Seรฑor Ian Castaรฑeda ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ. ~ We were invited at the house of Ian's mother on law. ~ Great soup with probably self-prepared chicken ๐Ÿ— ๐Ÿฅ. ~ Although my Spanish isn't perfect yet โ˜บ๏ธ, it was nice. ~ Many houses here are build with only one floor. But somehow it's nice. And don't forget โ˜๐Ÿผ, it's warm here, almost EVERYTIME โŒš๏ธ. ~ Thanks for being a part of the group. --- P.S. The wet part at the bottom on my T-Shirt was because I helped in the kitchen. Don't think something else ๐Ÿ˜†.

Da es so etwas in Deutschland nicht gibt bzw. nicht vorkommt, habe ich das mal sichtlich ausgenutzt

Our "cuarto" where we live. ~ The elongated house/dormitory where we live is divided into rooms, on each side. Approximately 3 students each. At first it was a shock to see how I'm gonna live but you get used to it quite fast. Still thinking about hiring a small flat for more freedom. Maybe in some weeks or months. ๐Ÿ˜Ž ~ There is something which has a positive and a negative side at the same time: We have to clean our room almost everyday in order to receive as many points as possible. Everyday a room check is due and in the end of the "semester" (they have quarters) the worst are written on the girls dormitory. ๐Ÿ˜‚ ~ But I'm already used to it and sometimes โ˜๐Ÿผit's fun. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ ~ I'll see when it begins to suck. ๐Ÿ˜

This was weird fun but great ! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ ~ Last week, two missionaries from Lima (capital city of Peru ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ช) made a ...๐Ÿค”...good question..."dancing hour with us. Mixed with a team game and other funny stuff without any equipment ๐Ÿคก. ~ Dancing with the girl was fun but also kind of childish. But doesn't matter. I'm amazed by these men and that they do missionary in Costa Rica ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ท. ~ Respect, respect, respect !โœŠ๐Ÿผ
Big event here but no idea what exactly. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ ~ The challenge was to prepare food for 600 people. Me as a voluntary worker asked for help and they roped me in for the cooking and preparing the drinks. ~ Making food was quite easy with the machine, which smashed and broke everything into bits. ๐Ÿ”ช ~ Especially the manufacturing of drinks was very joyful. The amount of students changed but when 5 guys are filling up juice into plastic bottlesโ€ผ๏ธ(crazy idea but they like it) you can be very productive. โ˜๐Ÿผ ~ Finally also the food ๐Ÿฅ˜๐Ÿฅ—was distributed to dozens of plastic packings. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ ~ Mission completed โœ”๏ธ๐Ÿ”

Some days ago, one of my roommates took me to the fields where he is working. Besides studying on the campus, many students work at different places: - there is a radio station where they record for the publicity - teaching other students is also available - cleaning, farming and building is another part ~ ~ It was very interesting. The way up to the hill where they work is actually criminal ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. The way is immediately next to the chasm where the "river" (its rather a stream) flows. ~ ~ As well as the path the bridge wouldn't pass any German control, not to mention the TรœV.

Food in Costa Rica is exciting ~ ~ The reason for that is: we eat more than just Central -American food here. We get food served from many countries: Nicaragua ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฎ, El Salvador ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ป, Guatemala ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡น... ~ That means that the food varies a lot but the basics are often the same. Tortillas ๐ŸŒฎ(not the chipsโ˜๐Ÿผ) a lot of beans, ensalada ๐Ÿฅ— and rice ๐Ÿš. ~ I'm already fed up with so many beans in the morning โ€ผ๏ธ. That's the British style. Not everyone's taste. ~ I make another extra post about the fruits because that's a lot and worth it.
