17 November 2017

Saturday 18 November - Day 9 Travel day - homeward bound Looking forward to seeing my family ๐Ÿ’•
Friday 17 November - Day 8 Yet another spectacular day exploring the Cook Islands. After a morning kayak in the lagoon we chartered a private boat to snorkel more of the reefs and head back to One foot Island with a delicious picnic hamper provided by Pacific Resort ๐ŸŒด Our captain James was a great guide, providing Heineken at precisely the right moment between snorkels๐Ÿป One Foot Island ๐ŸŒด did not disappoint..........every which way you turned you were rewarded with spectacular vistas from our favourite colours in the spectrum ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒด๐Ÿฆ€๐Ÿ โ˜€๏ธ A massive thank you to the love of my life for a most outstandingly amazing birthday week getaway! If this was 49 I canโ€™t wait for the big 5-O ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’•
Thursday 16 November - Day 7 We had an amazing day today kayaking the lagoon, seeing some of the prettiest coral colours weโ€™ve ever seen. mostly just hanging around our resort, laying under palm trees for shade and swimming. Cocktails by the pool to watch sunset and more delicious seafood for lunch in our private gazebo and dinner.

Wednesday 15 November - Day 6 Spent today snorkeling 3 different reefs around Aitutaki. This place is an actual tropical paradise ๐ŸŒด very hard to convey its beauty! We stopped at 3 Islands, including Honeymoon Island and One foot Island, where we actually got our passports stamped! We saw a great variety of tropical fish, many of which we had never seen before. We had a yummy bbq lunch with salads served from giant clams! Very cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Tuesday 14 November - Day 5 Yet another delicious breakfast overlooking the lagoon. Overnight it rained an ocean ๐ŸŒŠ and itโ€™s still raining...Seems like the perfect day for a Day Spa pampering session. Itโ€™s midday now and the sun is shining, time for cocktails and a spot of lunch! R&R by the pool in the afternoon the caught a shuttle to dinner at Tupuna, a little restaurant run by a 70year old lady. Aside from the knats and the cats, it was a nice evening! Back to our resort for chocolate molten pudding with vanilla bean ice cream ๐Ÿฆ

Monday 13 November - Day 4 A much better day today, yummy brekkie overlooking the lagoon. Sat by pool most of the day in a very cosy double lounge - cocktails a plenty! ๐Ÿน๐Ÿน Walked along the beach, admiring the cute little shell crabs and gorgeous coral only ankle deep. We had a delicious lunch in the private gazebo on the sand then lounged by the pool and had more cocktails. A much needed rehab day. We caught a shuttle to the blue lagoon and walked to the boat shed for dinner. A pretty lazy day even by my standards!

Sunday 12 November - Day 3 Not the best day in paradise today! After a lovely breakfast overlooking the lagoon we hired mopeds ๐Ÿ we toured around the island for a few hours, left our mopeds and hiked up to the summit of Maungapu. We had 360ยฐ views of Aitutaki, It was well worth the hike. After a harrowing steep decline we got back on our mopeds to explore the rest of the island ๐ŸŒด a couple of Kmโ€™s in and Bradley slipped on some freshly laid wet tar, falling off the bike onto the road. We eventually got back to the resort after a couple of lovely islanders helped us. Bed rest with pain meds, anti inflammatories, antiseptic and ice and nursing for the remainder of the day! Cuts, grazed and bruised but nothing broken - luck his video camera was in his pocket which seemed to somehow protect his hip. The lens casing is all broken but amazingly it still seems to work!

Saturday 11 November - Day 2 Slept for 13 hours, had a lovely breakfast overlooking the lagoon, and then walked the entire length of our beach to the little local village to buy a rash vest for snorkelling, The only thing I forgot to pack! So many little crabs going about their daily scrounging/hole digging routine. Back to our resort, sat by the infinity pool, had fish and wagu burgers for lunch, swam, sampled the cocktail of the day, more than once, relaxed and met some nice people! Dinner of 3 courses, back to sleep to digest! Aitutaki is spectacular ๐Ÿฆ€๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒž๐Ÿน
