Today we hopped on the train in Bucharest and set off on a 2hr 30min journey through the mountains to Brasov via Sinaia.
I truly recommend a mountain trek in the snow from the station in Sinaia up to Peles castle hidden in the mountains. This is a pleasant walk, accessible for all! We did the ground floor castle tour for £5 and saw some stunning interior and learnt a lot of history about the Romanian royal family, who unfortunately were overturned when the communist party took leadership. The most recent king of Romania sadly passed away late last year in his 90s and this was the last of the royal family.

Day 1 - 3; Romania, Bucharest
Hotel; The Hilton Garden Inn
A little bit if the history...A once beautiful city with remnants of ornate architecture and urban landscape nestled between the recent communist buildings of the 70's. A very interesting, dilapidated city with some back street delights hidden away. Romanian on the surface looks run down and derelict but if you are up for exploring on foot, you'll find some absolutely gorgeous hidden diamonds in the rough.
Highlights so far; the Van Gogh cafe, Bucharest Christmas market (for the mulled wine and chimney cakes....not so much the singing...unless you're a fan of Eurovision.)
