Roxanne's tour through New York City

4 May 2017

Erica had one last Junior's cheesecake before leaving NY. The flight attendant was very jealous!
Walking back to the hotel we stopped at M&M world. Erica was hushed to be a purple M&M. A quick glance at the 'Naked Cowboy'. My one regret is not seeing Bette Midler in Hello Dolly!
Our last day in New York! Went to Ellen's Star Dust Diner for our last meal. So much fun. Erica loved it. And mom really got into the whole atmosphere!!

Best Broadway show to date! Sara Bareilles was absolutely amazing. Actually the entire cast was amazing! A must see for anyone in NYC.

2 May 2017

We decided to enjoy Central Park. Took a bicycle taxi tour. Great way to see more of the park. Erica enjoyed playing on the playground.
Lunch at John's Pizza. Started with pizza rolls. Yummy! The the Hawaiian pizza. Sooo much cheese! Interestingly, their pizza is constructed with cheese then toppings then drizzled with sauce. Very good.

Then back to Lillie's where Erica fell asleep. And the view from our hotel room.
Chicago is a Broadway staple. And Erica's favorite musical to date. It's her fourth Broadway performance. Not bad for a 10 year old. Especially considering I saw my first at 18 and hubby is 46 and The Lion King was his first.
For dinner we went to Lillie's on 49th. Good food. Great atmosphere. And service was exceptional. Corinne was fantastic. Went back for drinks after the show.
Then off to the Statue of Liberty.
First stop World Trade Center and 9/11 memorial.
Off on our day of adventure. Subways in NY are filthy! 🤢 I've used subway systems around the world and NY could stand to bring theirs up a notch. Trying to keep my 10 from touching anything was a challenge. But we survived. As you can see in the second picture some segments actually get cleaned.

Erica is teaching Simba to play the flute.
It was a Lion King sort of day! Erica was very excited! It was Al's first Broadway show. What an amazing show it was!!! Brought tears to my eyes!
All of our trips include a visit to an Irish pub. Since today was Erica's first (of many to come) I took a picture. The food was fantastic. I had a full Irish breakfast. Yummy! Erica's Belgium Waffles were excellent. And as always...no complaints about the beer.
Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral in NYC. Honoring the Holy Name Society of FDNY. After Erica spent some time with Cooper (a therapy dog).

29 April 2017

Because a trip to New York wouldn't be complete without thanking New York's finest. Erica always gets a picture with an NYPD officer.
The magic of Times Square
Then off to Macy's on 34th street. Wooden escalators and giant pianos make shopping fun!!
It's tradition! Juniors cheesecake is a first stop every time!!!
