Still never sick of the view even along sane trek back
First part of the way down included an ice slide. This should be fun. Johahn fell twice on it..
thyangboche to munjo. 6.5 hour trek.
Total trip distance lukla to EBC return include side trip approximately 200kms.
Glad to have meat again.
Yak steak was very gamely but at this stage any meat tastes great.
Another one bites the dust.
Helicopter retrieval at thyangboche from the g adventure group.
15 of them I reckon 4 (3 army, one US marine will probably be able to drag someone up with him) will make it to kala pathar and EBC.
Met them on the way down.
It's getting colder as even in thyangboche toilets and pipes are frozen.
5 January 2017
Medical Center and Everest victims memorial at pheriche. Cold windy town affected by 2015 earthquake.
Dingbouche is definitely a better place to stay than here.
Although during peak season the medical centre does provide free seminars of AMS. Unfortunately it is closed during winter time.
Memorial stones past lobuche on the way down.
2 January 2017
Sit around the fireplace and chat caveman style.
Nightly ritual, hot water bottle and contact lens in the sleeping bag before bed.

Viva la Taiwan. Plenty of evidence of Taiwanese flags visiting Everest.
Obligatory wrist shot before Tukla lunch stop.
How amazing would that be if these are onsen pools
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of guilt, I look at my life and realise there's nothin left...
Sun again shinning on the magnificent Ama dhablam
Thank the lord the weather cleared up so we could move on to the next destination lobuche
1 January 2017
Black birds singing in the dead of chukkun valley
Stayed an extra night in dhingbouche due to the weather. So did another climatisation climb to chukkun valley at 4800meters.
Freezing cold and snowing but saw a massive avalanche in ama dablam well worth the trip.
31 December 2016
Happy new year!!
2 Dutch, a Kiwi, an Aussie and an Italian playing uno in front of yak dung fireplace. And no alcohol?
Finally reached top of viewpoint at 5100metres. Not easy but certainly worth the effort. Flock of eagles and crows. Amada blam ( double mother ). Makalu all in view. Fast moving clouds were magnificent. Also at the top were memorials of some locals that died in the earthquake.
First flag of viewpoint down. Pretty easy stroll so far.
Great start to the day Tibetian bread with omelette. Taste just like Taiwanese omelette biscuits.
30 December 2016
Sats 85, and tachycardic territory. Hope climatisation day tomorrow works.
Definitely feeling the headache and dizziness.
Rum and hot water to celebrate reaching 4400 meters might not be such a good idea
Johahn getting photobombed by a horse at dhingbouche.
The other face of ama dablam from dhingbouche
Usually sightings of wildlife along the track. Give way to the yaks and flocks of crows
One of the bridges damaged in the earth quake from tenbouche to dhingbouche
Early morning monk prayer ceremony incense to start the process.
Unfortunately in the winter there's only one resident monk and a junior monk guarding the fort. The prayer was still powerful though imagine what it would be like with 30 monks and drums and gongs.
