On the way home we stopped in Devizes, a lovely market town in Wiltshire. Never been here before, would like to revisit one day and would definitely return to The Black Swan, the quirky pub we had our lunch in, it was full of eclectic, interesting objects! We had a game of Pucket- a board with two halves- each end had elastic stretched from edge to edge. The idea is to 'ping' your wooden disks through a hole in the middle divider before your opponent 'pings' all theirs into your half! Gotta point out that I won!
And back to our native land!!!
A foggy start to the day today, although we spent an hour or so just sat at the table watching the workmen and various construction vehicles below!
It's been a lovely stay, as always, with good friends, plenty of laughs at a fabulous apartment (Altolusso Apartments-Cardiff Apartments)

After a relaxed breakfast we walked through the city, buying all those extra essentials! A visit to the castle was next
It is thought that the Roman Fort was established at the end of The 50s AD. After the Norman conquest The Keep was built. The castle passed along to the Bute family and the 3rd and 4th Marquis' completed many restoration projects including the Roman Walls. The family later gave the castle to the city of Cardiff.
After a Roast Pork dinner in the Duke of Wellington we spend a raucous evening playing 'heads up' and a homemade game of 'Scattergories' involving charades, humming and some rather vague clues and the ripping up of a John Lewis catalogue to use as scrap paper! A supper of Pringles, cheese cubes, and various cookies....healthy huh!!
Beautiful sunrise over Cardiff Bay

Onto Cardiff Winter Wonderland to drink Glühwein. After deciding we should eat, even though we could not possibly be hungry! we found a pie shop "Pieminister" and enjoyed a chicken, ham and leek pie with sweet potato fries.
We had a quick look at the outside of the castle, with a view to coming back tomorrow.
After a cheese on toast stop at the apartment, we strolled through the shops and the Christmas Market. A few Victorian and Edwardian arcades, tastefully decorated with white lights.
Obviously a stop for hot chocolate and time for a sleigh ride too!
Took a walk down to Cardiff Bay, The building is The Millennium Centre.

Amazing 19th floor apartment, with all mod cons, lovely bathrooms...think we made an excellent choice here.
