Took a bus tour up to Montserrat with Laura. We visited the Basilica at the Santa Maria at Montserrat where you find the Black Madonna and a fabulous church. She was found in a cave in the 8th century We also tasted some local foods and stopped by the shops. Montserrat dates back to 1025. The views were spectacular.
Spent day in Barcelona. Stoped at Park Quell and toured the park and saw where Gaudi lived. Beautiful scenery and lush park setting. Lunch at Hard Rock and off to Montserrat.

We arrived in Barcelona at 10:30 am. After checking into hotel, the Marriott Renaissance,we headed out to catch the hop on hop off. We took the complete route. Lasted two hours. Drove by the La Sagrada Familia, Park Quell, Olympic stadium.
After that we walked the full mile of the Las Ramblas to the Mediterranean. Had Dinner at Cafe Emma then off to bed.
Yesterday we spent the afternoon in Rome visiting the Pantheon and St Maria sopra Minerva where St Catherine of Siena is buried. There was a mass being said in English. There is also an original Michaelangelo sculpture . We also visited Castile de Angelo which was built by Hadrian for his monastery and fort. Had drinks at a cafe on the top of the fort.

Spent the evening in Rome yesterday. We took a taxi to Spanish Steps. We stopped and had Gelato and went onto the Trevi fountain and Panthenon. We ended our evening at Piazza Narvona where we enjoyed a late dinner.
Today we took a guided tour from the Paletine Hill through the Roman Forum and finished at the Colleseum. Our guide Laura was from Seattle but now lives in Rome studying History and Agriculture. She lives on a farm outside of Rome. Very informative tour with unbelievably sites. Had dinner in downtown Rome. Stopped at Piazza d’Fiore for gelato and then Home.

Today will leave Cortona and the Villa ai Cedri. Giovan was very welcoming and the villa beautiful. We will miss Cortona. We made a few friends. Emma from Bar 500 and Gabrielle from Romeo wines. Also our guides Stefano, Francesca and Carlo. Caio Cortona.

Visited two wineries in the Montepulciano and Montalcino areas. Our tour was hosted by Stefano of Got Tours. Our first vineyard Boscarelli. We toured the winery with Francesca. She explained how the grapes were grown and harvested and placed in bottle. After that we tasted 6 of there best wines. After that Stefano took us to Poggio Rubino vineyard where we were hosted by Carlo. We tasted a sparkling wine along with three Brunello,olio and balsamic vinegar. Served with the wines were cheeses, prosciutto, salami. For our main dish was wonderful pasta with tomato sauce. We ended with a little very strawberry dessert and brandy
All and all a wonderful day!!

Drove to San Giminagno where we shopped and ate lunch. We drove over to Siena and visited Piazza di Campo. One of the most favorite piazza in Tuscany. Had wine and dinner. Katy and I shared a fabulous hamburger. Drank Lots of white wine. Back to villa about 9 pm.

Spent the day in Florence. Kate and Cliff went to Accademia to view The David and we stop and had some Cafe Americano. We went to the Medici-Recardi Palace and viewed all the masterpieces the Medicis collected. The Medicis are responsible for making Florence famous. After that we went to Medici chapel where Michelangelo carved tombs for three Medici family members. Met up with Bucks afterwards and went to the San Lorenzo market then off to Ponte Vecchio.

Visiting Assisi today to visit the Cathedral of St Francis and St Clare. Had lunch in the town of Assisi and then off to Basilica di Francesco and Basillica di Santa Chicara. Upper church built in 1253. Then we visited Porziunciola where St Francis built his original church. After his death a very ornate cathedral was built surrounding the original church called Papal Basillica of St Mary of the Angels built in 1679.

Spent the day in Cortona. Had a wonderful time. We shopped, drank wine and ate. We had gelato early and then we had wonderful pasta at Bar 500!! Emma was our server who turned out to be the owner. We met her British husband and English bulldog named Clementine. In the afternoon we had a wine tasting with Gabrielle. Wonderful Italian lady who makes her own wine. Romero winery! We met friends from Chicago,Florida and California. Three ladies having a girls trip to Tuscany.
Staying at Villa ai Cedri. Fabulous views and Home. Our host Giovan is very nice. He showed us around the property with all the gardens and vegetables, lemon trees and flowers. We even have a bocci court. The villa sits in a olive orchard!!

Heading to Charlotte International Airport. Our fight leaves at 11:15 am to JFK. We spend all day at JFK and board at 10:00pm to Stockholm then to Rome Italy
