Chilling at the airport in Liberia! Flight leaves at 6:30am. #buenosdias

Spent our last afternoon snorkeling then relaxing on Hermosa beach. 🌊 We leave the hotel at 4am tomorrow to begin our trek home. #whatatrip
Lunch at Rancho Los Coyotes was delicious!! 😋
Breakfast at Nacazcol and then a bus ride to Palo Verde National Park. Along the way we saw many sugarcane fields. Once we arrived at the park, we loaded a boat and spent an hour and a half touring the river. We saw many cappuccino monkeys which was definitely a highlight, but the water was too high to spot any crocodiles. 🐒🐊 #day8

A beautiful morning in Fortuna provided a full view of the 🌋!! We were able to visit a small school on the outside of town this morning. It was an extra excursion added by request and a highlight for all the kids!! Students purchased rice, beans, oil, salt and prizes to leave as a donation. At the school, students performed dances, gave us a tour, and then challenged students to a soccer match. We are back on the bus for the long ride to Guanacaste. (PS - be sure to check out the photo of Trevor blushing when one of the girls said he looked like Justin Bieber! 🤣)

Yesterday afternoon we drove around the Arenal volcano to Lake Arenal for kayaking! Then it was back to Fortuna for free time. Most students hit the many shops located around the hotel. At 8pm many watched the big Costa Rica soccer game! 🇨🇷 ⚽️
La Fortuna waterfall!! 💦 400 steps down and 400 steps back up, but it was worth it! #majestic
Spent the night at Las Colinas hotel which offers a great view of Arenal volcano. Once we arrived, we headed to the Baldi Hot Springs where students enjoyed the warm volcanic waters. The water at the top was 200 degrees and cooled as it went down the mountain. Not many pictures since all our activities involve water and I have to leave my phone on the bus. 😊

12 June 2017

We left the beautiful Tirimbini Lodge this morning and headed straight to our white water rafting adventure. This activity was a blast and was definitely enjoyed by all students!! Lunch provided us with some delicious nachos and now we're on the bus heading to Fortuna. Check out the views during our meals! 😋 #day5

Flying through the trees in today's activity at Pozo Azul canopy tour!!
Some of the delicious fruit available at the fruteria we stopped at along the road. On to Sarapiqui! 🍊🍌🥝🧀

10 June 2017

Our day started with a tour of the Tortuguero canal where We saw lots of indigenous species including a sloth and howler monkeys. 🐒 Ray, our tour guide, has lived in the area his whole life and was an expert at spotting...that's for sure! The food is delicious, and even the students with pickier palettes have found something they like! 😁 The afternoon consisted of a tour of Tortuguero village where we saw the Caribbean Sea. Some of the students opted for an extra excursion tonight to see some nesting sea turtles. 🐢 #puravida

9 June 2017

The Ilan Ilan is a bungalow style hotel with quaint accommodations which makes some students miss the comforts of home. 😊 We arrived by boat late yesterday afternoon and enjoyed some free time before it started raining around 9pm. It's a damp morning as we wake, have breakfast and prepare for our canal tour.
That's what you call hotel transportation!
On our way to Tortuguero we stopped to see a waterfall and stretch our legs. It's been a long trek on the bus due to road construction closures and traffic. It's very warm (check out the real feel temp 😉) and the AC on the bus isn't working, but the windows are open, and everyone is hydrated and in good spirits!
View out the front door of our hotel with the volcano in the background! 🌋 😍#buenosdias
