I must include this for my own records, I was ecstatic to discover that Jungle Jim’s (a jungle themed restaurant found on the east coast) was only 2 km from our hotel. In my first year of University thinking about the Cheese Steak from Jungle Jim’s is what got me through eating a lot of poorly cooked sidekicks pasta (my repertoire has since vastly improved). This dish is so good the waitress couldn’t help but indulge me by telling me this was also her favourite item on the menu. Kolya was happy the waitress allowed us to sit at the booth right beside the aquarium, so we ate supper with the fish. Our waitress was a very friendly, bubbly girl and was incredibly personable.
Following dinner we spied a thrift store up the hill, where we discovered the gem of a coat I’m wearing below. It’s a CAT COAT. It’s amazing. And I’m presently kicking myself for having left it behind...
The Chateau Bedford Hotels and Suites
Certainly a step up from The Riverside, very clean and sophisticated. Not situated near anything by foot but a couple kilometres down the road is a main Center with restaurants and shopping galore! Definitely don’t stay for the views (it’s surrounded by highways and plazas) but its really affordable overnight spot close to Halifax, Dartmouth and the surrounding area! It has a really nice pool that isn’t heated but the room is heated so it feels refreshing!
It also pet friendly as we met a couple spaniel crosses in the hallway! No animal smell or anything that originally indicated it was.
Overall we are really enjoying our stay here.
Panoramas of one of the inlets at Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park!
What an amazing spot to stop! 40 minutes off the beaten path, this incredible experience awaits!
The Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park
Cape Hopewell, NB
Impressive to say the least! Home of the highest tides in the world these incredibly off balanced looking cliffs have been carved away over thousands of years!
You can hike down a beautifully kept path through the woods to get down to the beach access or pay a little extra and be driven down in a golf cart shuttle! Highly recommend the hike, it’s beautiful and fills your lungs with a deep evergreen smell! So fresh!
Even on a Wednesday this place was packed! Getting a photo without someone else in it
Check ahead of time for the tides to plan your visit when you can walk the floor! Also wear clothes/shoes you don’t mind getting muddy-that wet, clay soil flings every which way from your shoes when you walk! They have a foot wash station set up at the top of the stairs but that won’t help your clothes!
Day 2! Back on the road, taking the NB-2 to Hopewell Park, NB! Sunny and 22 degrees! Beautiful day!

Resting our heads (not for long thank goodness!), everything in the room feels like it will be sticky... probably a rockin’ place in the 80’s... maybe....
Resting our heads at the:
The Riverside Resort and Conference Center
Everything kind of feels like it should be sticky. A lot of visible wear to the entire place as a whole, walls with peeled wallpaper or sticky residue, ceilings with terrible water damage evidence and poor patching etc. Just an old place that hasn’t been kept up very well.
Has the potential to be beautiful, loads of character in the lobby and windows, it also has a little gallery of local handmade art pieces of quilting and felting along the corridor to your room, great location!
For $72 a night you get what you pay for! Solid overnight stop, better than a dorm room at UNB! Shame it hasn’t been kept up and updated or refinished to be more rustic/cabin feeling with the bare wood features in the rooms and lobby.
Stopped in Madrid 2.0 for a pee break and discovered a dinosaur installation!
We’ve hit the 401 and can officially say vacation has started! Yay! After the overwhelming stress and pressure of the last couple of days... it’s a relief to say we are FINALLY on the way!

Jaxx trying to cancel our vacation the day before we leave! 👍🏼
