Margie's journi to Australia

15 October 2017

A sleep in this morning with breakfast at 8 and departure at 9am. First stop was at Old Dadswell town, with nostalgia and historic memorabilia. There are self contained cabins for people to stay and we wandered round the whimsical site then had scones, jam and cream made by Jenny for morning tea in the Town Hall with a roaring log fire and a humorous talk by Max, the owner. Passed through Stawell and Ararat to Ballarat for lunch at the Trotting Club Flying Horse Bistro, then headed for home. Judith picked us up from the Stamford and we arrived home at 5pm to the sight of my glorious roses. A great trip and I would certainly travel with Lamble’s again. Fantastic weather all the way and good fellowship with everyone.

Swim before breakfast then off to Pacific Fair to browse the shops, do a bit of retail therapy and have lunch. Shopped at Oasis on the way home and then after a rest went to Peg and Anne's for happy hour. Home for dinner and the end of another lovely day.

Another beautiful day. Friends of Marj, Jan and Les from Lismore, visited, and we went to lunch at the Bowls club. They had met Marj and Ted when caravanning and did some trips with them. A quiet afternoon as it was a bit cooler. We had dinner at home and watched TV.
Another beautiful day. Swam before breakfast - the water's a lot warmer than Shoreham. In the morning we went to the Botanic gardens and walked a couple of the tracks. Lovely native shrubs and trees and great reflections in the water. Home for lunch then another swim before we went to dinner at the casino. Goof company and lots of laughs.

Great day today. Decided we'd go up to Brisbane to see Jan and Mel so off we went by bus and train then bus again as part of the rail was closed for works. Met Mel in town had lunch then picked Jan up at the airport and back to Mel's for a cuppa. We intended to come back the same way we went but Mel insisted on driving us home. Decided we'd buy chicken etc for dinner. When we arrived we found there was a happy hour organised at one of our friends so naturally we joined them. Back home for dinner then Jan and Mel were on their way. Definitely a very memorable day

A good sleep in after our big night out. Walked on the beach, lunched at home then time for a good swim before we went out again. Just picture me doing my granny float looking up into the cloudless sky with palm trees waving in the breeze. Very hard to take. Have decided to go up to Brisbane tomorrow to see Mel and Jan.

Another beautiful day. Walked on the beach, swam in the afternoon and went to Outback Spectacular at night. Our bus broke down on the way(we have a 100per cent strike rate against buses on this trip). We arrived on time only to find there had been a mixup in the tickets which took a while to sort out. All ok and we thoroughly enjoyed the show.

20 July 2017

Beautiful weather again. Esme joined us for the day. We intended to go to the botanic gardens so took the rail up to Surfers and caught a taxi. The driver wasn't sure where the gardens were and took us to the ArtCentre. After coffee we went round the gallery(very small it didn't take very long). Then Marj and I went round the back to see the lake(pictured). It was closed for swimming as they discovered a stonefish in it last week and there were divers searching for it. Back to Surfers for lunch then home. A rest for some and I had a swim in the pool. Invited some of the group for Happy Hour and enjoyed some socialising then dinner at home.

19 July 2017

Another nice day. Fairly windy. We caught a light rail to Surfers, walked along Cavill Ave to the beach then wandered through the shopping complex. Had a nice lunch then back home for some socialising. Decided to go to Broadbeach bowls club for dinner with some of our group. Walked to the club but we got a maxi taxi home. Going to the club I was walking with Anne from our village and she mentioned she worked in the Taxation office. I asked if she knew Glenis and she remembered her well, so we shared some memories. A nice dinner. Our TV was replaced during the afternoon so watched a bit then an early night.

18 July 2017

Early start at the Community Centre with a bit of a wait because the bus would only hold 11 people not 13. However we all made it to the airport on time and enjoyed a smooth flight to Gold Coast. On arrival we had a wait of about one and a half hours till they organised two buses for us. A nice cup of tea and unpacking then we went to Oasis shopping centre to stock up supplies. Had dinner there then home hoping to relax in front of the TV but couldn't tune it in. Early night indicated. Lovely to feel warm.
