After the humid heat of Mexico nearly taking it out of us during our exploration of Chichen Itza, it was time for a dip in a refreshing cenote..!

Though it's one of the most popular sites in Mexico - so is always busy - Chichen Itza is most definitely a must see!
How do I even explain what it's like waking up in Mexico for the first time?
For most travellers, it's exciting, of course. But for me, this trip was years in the making. I'd been determined to take this trip for so long but everything stopped me - I lost my job, not enough people signed up for the tour, family issues and, at times, I wasn't brave enough.
But I finally got there and it wasn't until this morning - waking up to the sights and sounds of the early morning in Cancun - that it really hit me.

Today was the day I arrived in Mexico. After 21 hours of travelling - by bus, train, plane and then taxi - I finally arrived in central Cancun. Although heading out to explore the city tempted me, I was exhausted after so much travel and determined to get a good nights sleep ahead of the beginning of my Mexican BLT tour the following morning. I did, however, meet Rachel, one of the other travellers who I was sharing a room with, and we briefly met Matt & Dom who were also staying in that hotel.
Despite the nerves and anticipation for the following morning, sleep came to me easily that night.
