Bradford to Edinburgh bike ride

7 June 2017

Super super happy to have made it and went out in Edinburgh to celebrate (had no 'going out' clothes, shoes or a bag mind but it was still brilliant!) *also got asked for ID in every pub 🤔😅*
Day 5: Innerleithen to Edinburgh (42.1 miles) The was the easiest day by far and was mainly downhill after the first 15 miles (of uphill). As we approached Edinburgh, a large proportion of this was off road on designated cycle lanes. I MADE IT!! I did the full route on the bike and could not be happier! ⭐️⭐️ https://ridewithgps.com/routes/21634157 Accommodation Info: Edinburgh Uni, EH16 5AY, Nosizo Deway, 01316671971

Day 4: Lockerbie to Innerleithen (51 miles) A stunning day of cycling through a mountain pass, past lochs and with a lot of continual climbing for the first 30 miles. A pure ascent for the first 30 miles!! Mentally the hardest day! 😖 It honestly felt like I would never get there but with plenty of encouragement from the boys (Saj, Avi, Intisar, Adam and Chris) we all made it!! And the thought of 'one more day' was very prominent!! Also people were eating mealworms as protein!! (Definitely not me, may I add!!!) https://ridewithgps.com/routes/21634003 Accommodation Info: Kailzie Bunkhouse, EH45 9HT, Linda, 07859888186, www.bunk-house.co.uk

Day 3: Penrith to Locherby (53.6 miles) Not too bad of a day in comparison to yesterday!! And the day we cross the border into Scotland. The accommodation was 20 miles away from Locherby, at Mabie Forest, and had an outside hot tub and sauna. But the morning I wasn't feeling as positive as I'd have liked 😂😂 but I got on with it and had another amazing day!!! It was like living in the wilderness but utterly amazing! The hot tub was great and definitely soothed my knees and we had a homemade curry for tea!! https://ridewithgps.com/routes/21633885 Accommodation Info: Mathrown of Mabie,DG2 8HB , Pam Hazlehirst, 01387 247900, www.marthrownofmabie.com

Day 2: Clapham to Penrith (61.6 miles) This was the toughest day by far with lots of climbs, steep descents and undulating hills. However, it was beautiful and took us by the Ribblehead Viaduct! Physically the most demanding day, my knees have never felt pain like it! But the beautiful views made it all worth it ⭐️ https://ridewithgps.com/routes/21633716 Accommodation Info: Wayfarers Hostel, CA11 7LR, Mark Rhodes, 01768866011, wayfarershostel.com
