Lisa's voyage in Scotland 2017

17 September 2017

Last day in Edinburgh. Walk thru the park, excellent lunch at the Witchery, St. Giles church - very beautiful and they sold holy sox, a visit to the National Galleries and a little more shopping. Lovely dinner at Conan Doyle's - vegetarian pie and a Talisker Skye toast to bid farewell to this magical country.

Fun day shopping and exploring Old Town. We found Tom Riddle's grave at GreyFriars Churchyard, rubbed the nose of Greyfriars Bobby, found a fabulous handmade sweater store, hunted for silly sox, stumbled upon a wedding procession, got close to "Hadrian's Wall" and ended the day with an incredible Turkish dinner at Pera.

After a disastrous adventure trying to get to Rosslyn Chapel on the 37 bus, we ditched the bus and went to Holyrood Palace. It is amazing- the history, portraits, pageantry - a must see. We ended with high tea. Very elegant and worth every calorie.

14 September 2017

Some photos of Edinburgh- lobby of Balmoral hotel, Sir Walter Scott monument, Sherlock Holmes, shopping on the Royal Mile - this is a wonderful city.
Melrose Abbey - We stumbled upon a beautiful wedding. Nothing like a bus load of Americans crashing your wedding pictures.
Abbotsford- The home of Sir Walter Scott - Love this place.
Beautiful sunny day at Edinburgh Castle.

13 September 2017

Blair Castle - Beautiful grounds. Rainy day but the trees are enormous and so dense that we hardly got wet.

12 September 2017

Eilean Donan Castle - I've seen so many beautiful photos of this place and this location has appeared in a number of movies. Great to see it in person.
Unbelievably beautiful Isle of Skye and Portree Harbor. Murray Anderson was a fabulous guide. The weather was good - no rain. Even got to break out the sunglasses for a bit 😎

11 September 2017

Cawdor Castle - cozy castle with beautiful gardens.
Beautiful and sobering place. A must see for Outlander fans.
Loch Ness did not disappoint. This country is incredibly beautiful. Photos do not do it justice. It was a rainy morning but still fantastic.

Lovat Hotel Loch Ness - Fort August. Wonderful hotel and beautiful town.
Driving to the Highlands. Magnificent!
Inverarary Castle - beautiful Victorian castle with stunning gardens even in the rain. A must see for Downton Abbey fans.
