Lesley's adventure in Lahaina, HI, United Sta

26 August 2017

Aloha and Mahalo Maui. It was a wonderful time as always.

25 August 2017

Went in search of craft markets. We started in Kahului. Then went to Haliimaile for lunch at the General Store. Then headed over to Honomanu Park to watch the wind surfers and snorkel with these huge 4 foot green turtles. After that hit Paia a funky little town with very cool shops and lots of local art. Finally headed back to Lahaina and finished the night with some amazing ice cream at Local Cream.

Did dives at Molokini backside on Weds. Then got shave ice and went snorkeling. Thurs we went surfing. The breaks here are all reef breaks so we came away a little beat up. Chris got a gash in his knee and Les got a board in the face. We both were able to stand up on a bunch of waves and had a great time despite the injuries. Then more shave ice and relaxing on a beach.

22 August 2017

Did some beautiful dives on Lanai including Cathedrals 1 which I've been wanting to do for a long time. Then came back to Maui and did some cliff jumping at Black Rock.

21 August 2017

After the bike ride we checked out the lavendar farm and the surfing goats dairy.
Bike ride
During the bike ride we got to see a silversword in bloom. This is special because the plant grows for 7-10 years before it blooms once then dies.
Got up at 0145 to head to Haleakala to watch the sun rise with a 37% eclipse. My cell camera couldn't catch the Eclipse directly but you can see it in some sun spots. Some nice people at the summit shared their eclipse glasses. Then we started on the 26 mile downhill bike ride from the summit to the beach.

At one pit stop we found this guy. Who knew they have scorpions here?!
Went back to Lahaina for a Segway tour (sorry no pics) shopping and hands down my favorite pizza ever at Lahaina Pizza while watching this beauty of a sunset.
The obsession with handsome roos continues.....
Couldn't find good surf due to a king tide. So we went to Big Beach, pretty much a perfect beach. Nice soft sand, not too much current, crystal clear water and 360° of mind blowing views.
Started this morning in search of surf. Instead found cheesy photo ops and pretty flowers.

Can't check in until 4, so what else does one do but go on a brewery tour.
This little dude who looks a bit like Honey Badger just came to say hi to me at the car rental place.
Love that ginger.
And here is our flying fish on Maui. Aloha, we've arrived.
Pretty sweet paint job on our bird.
