In summary, Zagreb is a very small city and the sights can be seen in about half a day when walking. However, the people are lovely, the food and drink amazingly good and cheap, with a 2 course meal and a couple drinks averaging about £15 per person, and by far the best hostel!

The tower and views of the city. The cannon is fired daily at 12 noon.
Dolan street market. Hundreds of stalls selling fresh produce. Open daily from 6-3.
St Michaels church. An amazing tiled roof!
More parks and monuments.
Up to the cathedral and Mary's water fountain. They are in the process of restoring the cathedral to its previous splendour as the rock that had been used had been worn by the weather.

First night in Croatia. Turns out 100 kuna is approximately £11. Which means, in a restaurant, for 2 beers, 2 glasses of white wine, 2 large pizzas and a Sprite...it cost us about £20! Bargain!
Day 10: Main square hostel. Wow! We have sleeper beds, key cards for the rooms, free lockers and fresh towels. It seems closer to a hotel than a hostel! X
