Laura's voyage in Croatia

2 September 2017

Day 7 Sat Day to relax by pool, clouded over by 200 so showered and. us to Sunset beach for lunch by the ocean. Rained but watched all the youngsters swim in the sea. Walked round the bay but the damp didn't do my hip good; roll on my new hip!!!! Bus back to hotel and rested. Drinks at the hotel bar; cooled down and think we had the best week of weather as the climate will change slightly, still warm but cooler evenings. Abs ate kebab and rice next door at the Taj Mahal Bosnian restaurant. Good food but with travelling tomorrow stuck to bread.
Day 6 Fri Relaxing dsy by pool. Eid so Abs spent time ringing family back in KSA. Finished my book and topped up the tan! Mid afternoon walked into the Old Town and enjoyed a drink on the main strip, watched a wedding take place and window shopping. Ended up at our favourite restaurant in the square, tuna salad and pasta. Walked back to hotel via the Art bar where we met a couple from Nottingham.
Day 5 Thurs Quick breakfast and colllected from hotel to join the Elaphite islands tour on board a beautiful reproduction of the viking boat. Well impressed and definitely worth a visit to 3 islands with a great lunch included. Otok Sipan (largest), Kolocep and Lopud were the islands and we enjoyed a few hours on Lopud to swim in the sea. Back to the hotel for quick shower then walked over to El Torro restaurant for a risotto and pizza. Was ok but expected a steak house. Anyway it filled a hole 😂

Day 4 Wed After breakfast reserved our pool side beds for a day to relax in the heat. Shower and bus to a nearby Sunset beach to enjoy a gin and tonic. Bus no 6 back to the Old town to watch the sunset. Ate at Debravka, a lovely restaurant overlooking the castle and watching the boats and kayaks. Music my taste, samba, great service and food. Croatia at its best. Bus back to Hotel Lero to enjoy a Croatian rose wine and listen to the hotel singer. Karioke at its worst 😱 A relaxing day

Day 3 Tues part 2 We enjoyed a relaxing lunch of fresh seabass and chips, watching the world go by in one of the 5 squares. Finally we returned via the ferry to cut down on travel time back to Dubrovnik. Excellent tour fully recommend it. Quick night cap at the hotel and Abs collected a kebab from a local cafe for supper.
Day 3 Tues part 1 Quick breakfast then met our lift to join the tour at Celipi to Montenegro. Fortunately the border was quiet so straight through with history explanation. After the departures of Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Macedonia (which peacefully seceded in 1991), by the late 1990s only two of the original six republics of Yugoslavia remained united: Serbia (which still included the provinces of Kosovo and Vojvodina) and Montenegro. First stop was Perast. Perast is an old town on the Bay of Kotor. It is situated a few kilometres northwest of Kotor and is noted for its proximity to the islets of St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks. We ferried over to the Lady of the Rocks and visited the cute church. We then stopped at Kotor. Kotor is a fortified town on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, in a bay near the limestone cliffs of Mt. Lovćen. Characterized by winding streets and squares, its medieval old town has several Romanesque churches, including Kotor Cathedral.

Day 2 Mon Wakened by coffee in bed ❤️Reserved our beds by the pool then enjoyed a buffet breakfast. Relaxed reading by the pool for an hour, showered then met Jet2 rep to book a tour. Very impressed with Jet2 holidays so far. Bus 12 kunas (£1.75) to Hotel Palace opposite end to the old town. walked down hill then caught bus back to the old town as ticket free if used within the hour. Walked up to the cable car and enjoyed a relaxing lunch with an amazing view, perfect service and great music. Walked round the old town but, once again, found it overbearingly hot!!!!!! Had our ice cream whilst sitting on the steps at the main entrance. Bus back for a nap then strolled down to a local bar, What's up, and watched the locals and police handle traffic after a slight accident. Ate at a very clsssy but reasonably priced restaurant opposite, Magellan. Desperate for bed.

Day 1 Sun Early morning start and all going smoothly with a bacon bap and coffee when I notice a diamond missing from my Barcelona ring!! ah well could be worse. Great flight to Dubrovnik. Spotlessly clean airport and transfer to hotel by Jet2 efficient. Beautiful coastline drive to Hotel Lero, 15 mins walk into the old city. After checking in we walked to the old city, stopping off at the Art Bar, a quirky little bar with bath tubs as seats and washing machine barrels as tables. Dubrovnik has massive 16th-century walls encircling an Old Town with Gothic and Renaissance buildings.Amazing but I found it too hot. Ate chicken salad and Abs had Buzara, mussels coated with garlic and breadcrumbs. Cooled off with an ice cream in a cone and taxi home. After a sleep we enjoyed a gin and tonic in the hotel bar at the front of the hotel and walked opposite for a kebab that was tasty. Going to like it here
