Final stop for the day was Bedale - market town with lots of character AND a yarn shop!!!
In Thornton Watlass, there were a lot of ivy-covered grave markers and a really pretty garden. Could hear the skeet shooting at Thornton Watlass Manor
When the rain stopped the views were really great!
Next stop was Masham - pronounced "Mas-ham" so very different from Lyle and Ayla's version. Loved the "Hymns and Pimms" night advert!! Ate lunch at Johnny Baghdad cafe right next to the church and the market square. Saw quite a few tributes to the stout de France that went through Yorkshire in 2014.
Stopped in West Tanfield for the next (Norman) church AND the Marmion Tower built in the 15th century as a gatehouse for a long-departed bridge that crossed the river Ure. Three stories John and known for a beautiful oriel window.
Rode through Snape to get to our next stop in Well: another Norman church...but with scaffolding!!
Started out from our accommodation, the Woodman Inn in Burneston, North Yorkshire. They had a shed to store our bikes and staff were great. Room is huge and food is OK.
