Abroad in Spain

30 June 2017

What. A. Weekend. Took a weekend trip to Italy to see my wonderful girlfriend, Lucy! My trip started off by taking a flight to Rome where I stayed one night and woke up early the next morning to see some historic sights. Around 10am I hopped on a train and headed to Florence where I met Lucy and wandered around the beautiful city. Next, we took the train to Naples, Italy and then a ferry to Capri, Italy! What a beautiful place. We stayed in a beautiful B&B which had one of the best sights in all of Capri from the top. For the last night in Italy I stayed in Florence to experience a bit of life in that city. I'm so glad this opportunity was give to us and we were able to see each other after 6 long weeks. The pictures tell the stories!

Tour the city they say, it's not that hot! Let me tell you, this city is scalding hot. Can't move anywhere without breaking a sweat but I'm getting used to it. We took a walking tour of the ancient parts of Mallorca, seeing the Muslim Baths, the old walls of the city and the Le Seu Cathedral. The city was built with Muslim influence but was over ran and mosques were buried and Catholic cathedrals or churches now stand. The cathedral is absolutely beautiful and I recommend anyone who visits Mallorca to see this site. While in Ireland I visited St Patrick's Cathedral but personally, this building is much more grand.

I love experiencing the traditions of new cultures! This night we joined in the celebration of The Night of San Juan. This night is special to España because it marks the longest day of the year and the beginning of summer! The way this night works is by writing a wish on a slip of paper and throwing it in a massive fire. Next, at midnight you are to go to the beach and get into the water and cleanse your body of all bad that you may obtain. It was truly a great experience and I'm so glad I took part!

¡Buenas Dias! After one crazy travel day, I was able to finally sit by the beach in the Mediterranean. What a beautiful city this is. Since I came before the the full group of students, I was able to walk around downtown and get to the beach. I will post all the photos I can while here. Hope everyone enjoys my next Journi here in Spain!
