Katie's tour through Iceland

6 June 2017

To anyone planning to go to Iceland, I would definitely recommend Gateway to Iceland's "Midnight Sun Hot Golden Circle" tour. Because of the time of night, we beat all crowds and had amazing views and vantage points. We first stopped off at the Secret Lagoon for a relaxing dip in a geothermal pool. It's amazing how hot the water gets! Our next stop was at Geysir, which erupts regularly. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures on my phone. Just a few minutes away is Gulfoss, a massive waterfall. Although not nearly as big as Niagara Falls, the landscape around it is just as impressive. Next, we made our way to Pingvellir National Park. Usually swarming with tourists, we had the place all to ourselves. The sight of the first parliament, the park is also the meeting place of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The resulting rifts are amazing geological features.
Lovely late lunch at Laundromat Cafe. The fish soup was excellent!
After a restless flight (I didn't get as much sleep as I had hoped for), I am at my hostel. I can't check in until 2pm, so I am going to hang out in the hostel loft area, and maybe do some exploring.

The plane is so pink!
Arrived at the airport. Now to just kill some time before boarding!
