The walk to the headland from the main car park took approximately 1.20mins and the return walk a bit quicker at 1.10 mins. So with stopping at the headland I would suggest allow a good 3 hours to fully enjoy it. The weather was amazing which made it one of the most enjoyable walks in the UK I've ever done. So much to see and loved the variety of scenery along the way.
The headland and larger of the two lighthouses.
Continuing the walk you eventually see the lighthouse in the distance but just before arriving st the headland you pass some fishermen's cottages and realise there are actually two lighthouses.
Llanddwyn Island. Absolutely loved this walk. So much variety and things to see. The changing landscape keeps it interesting. On the island you can see for miles. Crashing waves against the cliffs and the noisy gulls added to the atmosphere! The wind was breezy but it was still a warm day.
As the tide was out it was possible to get across to Llanddwyn Island. It means 'Island of the blessed' and is the Welsh equivalent of St Valentine.
The dunes at Newborough Beach
The stunning Newborough Beach
Leaving south Stack I drove back south to Newborough forest and beach. The drive took about 30 mins. Arrived at a huge car park after a long twisty road down to the sea. The car park cost Β£3 for the day. The car park had toilets , refreshment kiosk and lots of signs explaining the various walks / cycle routes.
South stack Lighthouse
After leaving Trearddur Bay I took a scenic road towards Elfin Tower and the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB nature reserve. The heather on the way was stunning. The drive was easy and there was hardly any traffic about. The drive took about 15 mins.
Very easy drive to Anglesey.. left home at 7.45 arrived just before 10am in Trearddur. Stopped off for breakfast at the Sea Shanty Cafe in Trearddur Bay then went for a walk along the beach.
