Wharepuke bungalow view with light rain and a sweet honey mead/wine in hand. Hard to explain how serene it is here. Our favourite accommodation so far.

Walking around Napier
The drive to Napier. Very wet and grey. The weather cleared as we came into Hawkes Bay with a rainbow to boot! So far Napier looks great. Interesting Art Deco architecture and lots of restaurants by the see. Will go for an explore soon.
Wet and rainy in Taupo, so a long cosy breakfast was in order.

Arrived in Lake Taupo. Beautiful scenery on the drive but miserable weather so no photos. Hopefully clears for the tomorrow!
Mount Maunganui hike. Was harder than expected! Lots of stairs and quite steep.
Just about to hike up Mount Maunganui. Apparently the view is amazing from the top. There were para gliders circling around it yesterday, it looked very peaceful. Will take pictures!

'The Mount' Maungauni accomodation at the Atrium Apartments - fantastic harbour and mountain views. We're planning on hiking the mountain in the morning. The town itself is cute and seasidey with a laidback feel and a couple of backpacker hostels.
Driving from Auckland to Mt Maunganui
And the road trip begins!

Such a great night. One of the best.
On our way to the Langley hotel for Peters uncles 70th!
I want to move to Ponsonby!! It's packed full of restaurants, boutique shops and a great bustling vibe. These photos don't do it justice (rushed). We will be back!
Peter at Barber in the very hip suburb of Ponsonby
At Auckland harbour
Peter decided we didn't need a GPS in the hire car. I queried as to how we were going to find places (read: who the hell goes on a road trip without a GPS). Peter replies... 'Just stop and ask people. Generally someone at the dairy or servo will know'. And the adventure begins!?
Arrived in Auckland! Staying at the Ascot in Parnell.
