Jeanette's trip to Maui County, HI,...

6 November 2016

Yesterday we took a ride to Kanapali. Beautiful ride along the coast. That side of the island is much more lush, obviously more rain than in kehei. Dramatic cliffs and rough surf. We found this fantastic restaurant, the Gazebo. Best macadamia nut pancakes with a sweet whipped cream. This little gem was tucked in the back of a condo complex, what a find. Then we hiked the Kapalua nature trail. It winds along the coastline with dramatic views of the cliffs and rough surf. There is also a seabird nesting area that you need to be careful with. Beautiful day. The end of the day was a chicken bbq by Danny. Yummy!

Another beautiful day! We're going up the coast to explore Kanapali today. Yesterday , another fabulous morning of snorkeling at turtle point. Breakfast at the condo and a relaxing afternoon reading. Dinner at wailea at the burger joint. Best burgers ever!

So today we booked some excursions. Drove up to the snorkeling site, turtle point and then hiked out along the lave flow at the end of s kehei Ed. We'll be back again to hike here with better shoes and more water!
The first day started in Las Vegas at 7am for a 9am flight to Honolulu with a connecting flight to Maui. We arrived safe and sound and ventured over to the rent a car where we waited for almost an hour to get our Nissan Altima. Four adults, four suitcases (large) 3 backpacks, ice chest... Get the picture. But Larry packed that trunk like a pro and we were off to the resort. Danny had to resort in his gps and it still took us several Wong turns to reach our destination.
