Chetwan National Park
After breakfast Ross went for a bike ride around the village and I caught up on laundry and just chilled.
After lunch we got in our jeep for the safari in Chetwan National Park. First impressions were that the park is tired and unloved. Parts of it are along the river so the track is very sandy. There are grassy areas as well as dense jungle and home to tigers, leopards, rhinos, crics, a variety of deer and birds.
After about 45 minutes we were lucky enough to see a large male rhino which was amazing. We then drove to the river in search of crocs but saw none.
We then spotted a female rhino with her cub in the dense bush a little to far for pictures.
As we were heading out of the park we spotted another rhino on the trees. Our last sighting was just behind tbe jeep. I could not have been much closer. Five rhinos in all...but no tigers.
Watched sunset on the river and were entertained by local dancers. A nice way to finish the trip.

Pokhara - Chetwan National Park
Got to sleep in this morning, what a treat. Had a nice breakfast then boarded the bus for the trip to the Barauli Homestay in Chetwan.
Unfortunately due to construction and traffic the journey took almost 10 hours...good news dinner was ready so we got a really nice traditional Nepalese meal. We are sleeping in cottages in the village which are very comfortable.
Day 3 Landruk - Pokhara Trek
After breakfast we headed out. We trekked further up the mountain most of the morning before reaching our Teahouse for lunch. Absolutely beautiful setting and we all enjoyed the break.
After lunch we had a further 15 minute up hill climb and then started our descent back down to our waiting bus and the journey back to Pokhara.
We are all tired and dusty but very pleased with accomplishing the 48 km trek!!
Got back into Pokhara just after 5 pm and all headed for the showers and clean clothes.
Ross and I enjoyed a very lovely italian dinner at "Fresh Elements". Pasta and vino...doesn't get much better!!!

Day 2 Granduk - Landruk Trek
After breakfast we headed down the mountain through the terraced fields as we make our way to the adjacent valley and a steady climb to our Teahouse for lunch.
There is a hotspring down by the river and some of the team made the 45 minute excursion to enjoy the pools.
Today was a long day as we doubled back down the mountain to the river. The hike along the river was beautiful but we ended the day with a long trek up to Landruk at just over 2,000 metres.
Our Teahouse tonight is very similar to last nights, basic but serves the purpose.
After dinner entertainment was provided around the campfire by our guides and porters. Ross, Joe & Mark stayed up talking over a few bevies and cigars.

3 Day Circular Trek of the Annapura Valley
Day 1 Pokhara - GandrukTrek
After a 2 hr drive into the Annapuna Valley we started our trek. Scenery is amazing and the mountains spectacular.
Stopped at our first Tea House for lunch after a 5.25 km hike and watched the cook pick
lettuce for my salad.
A long steady up hill climb to Grandruk at 1,960 metres. The Everest beer went down very nicely. After dinner we all headed to bed.
The evenings are quite cool so both the sleeping bags and duvets were utilised.

The Road Trip to Pokhara
This morning we headed to Pokhara...got a later start than planned as 1 of the Oz crew spent the night in hospital.
On the road by 8:30 and of course hit the mad rush hour traffic in Kathmandu.
Another beautiful day in Nepal and a nice comfortable bus for the over 8 hour drive.
Spent the time just soaking up the changing views, absolutely beautiful. About 3 hrs into the trip we encountered our first delay on the mountain roads. It was an indication of further delays as we lost about 2hrs not stopping for lunch until 3 pm.
8 January 2018
Ross and I spent the day touring Kathmandu. There is still a lot of repair work going on clearing the aftermath of the earthquake.
We explored the cultural city of Bhaktapur had lunch with the Sisterhood of Survivors and heard what they were doing to combat human trafficking.
We ended the day with a tour of the Great Buddha Stupa.
7 January 2018

Just got settled in the hotel in Nepal and now enjoying a late lunch. Met the rest of the group this evening going to be fun.
