The main promenade in Burgos is shady and green and beautiful; oldies out, wheelchairs out and everyone dressed in their finery.

Became more windy and cold as we climbed rocky sheep country and down the other side with a fierce wind at our backs. Rocky ground pretty with flowering lillies.
Set off after hot choc and banana breakfast for final trek into Burgos. Anti fracking messages evident on roads and in windows.

We split company and, after bus ride I walked along lonely road in very cold, high area to arrive at San Juan de Ortega, a monastery under refurbishment. Surrounding area though was deserted and in much need of repair.
Chris stocked up at the supermarkedo and we feasted on pan, salami, cheeses and olives at our Hotel Duques de Najera.

Beautiful green agricultural land with irrigation in concrete channels above ground. Aren't we done with hills?
Monastery of Santa Maria la Real where King Don Garcia 1044 followed his hunting bird into a cave and found the ancient statue of the Virgin Mary.

Went exploring with Jill but village very sleepy so we ascended the hill to the chapel and kept going on a track towards the monastery through gorse bush very fragrant like rosemary, and us scrambling over rocks.

Walking through wheat fields and broad bean fields, birdsong in the bushes which grew along the path edge providing welcome shade. Trees in new leaf or flower and roses magnificent against ancient walls.

Early start on our Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Apparently the seasoned peregrinos are off at 6am.

A lot of tramping around Pamplona to familiarise ourselves with Camino, Jill spying the clam shells in the pavements and so we followed the route.

Promenade at the Port of Barcelona
Taxi driver quite the motorsports man as he combatted peak hour chaos then the hill top Olympic venue pencil pine route to Saint Jordi Club. Settled towards stage front for Roxette- crowd singing along word for word 'She's Got The Look!' and then reverential 'Ole! Ole!' as thanks and appreciation.
Plane tree leafy streets with Gaudi ornate facades, gothic crenellations and turrets and tiling on top of some.

Magnificent paella close by our Calle Aribau room. Chris had tender octopus and potato dish with vino rojo.
The heat didn't eventuate, but a mist rose off the harbour and swallowed the lower city area. Walked down Las Ramblas and sampled the choc croissant from downstairs bakery near Saint Joseph Market.
