Last meal in Italy - Macs😂😂😂 One hot Nesquik with Sausage and Egg Mcmuffin for €3.50
Milan 🚂 Nice. Goodbye Italy😭😭😭 I will really miss the cheap and good gelatos here😭😭😭
8 June 2015
Japanese themed dinner today😄 home-cooked curry and miso soup👍
Super hungry after a day of "shopping" and was desperate for some food. Chanced upon Princi bakery while finding a food stall, and ordered a potato and cheese pizza😊
Shopping at Milan now😊
Milan's shopping districts are 😱😱😱 so pretty
Milan's church. We refused to pay €2 to visit inside the church so we just stood outside to take pictures😂
👭👭 notice our dress code?😂
Coffee from Cioccolato! Ordered a freddo and the rest got some kind of melted coffee thingy which was good!
Panzerotti!! Got a pear and chocolate one for breakfast and I thought the chocolate overpowered the pear. The crust is tart kind of pastry and was a bit hard😅 but the savoury ones were good cos the rest had salami/mozarella and they were 👍👍👍 with nice fried crust
Dogs and pups at the park 😍
A park within the castle
And when you see a bed of flowers you have to take photos with it😂😂😂
7 June 2015
And before we headed back to Milan😂😂😂😂😂 ONE LAST GELATO! From passerbella again. This time I got peach x orange and melon, and they were gooooood😋😋😋 okay I ate a lot today need to get rid of them calories!!!
And then it was getting late so we said goodbye to Bellagio and took a ferry back to Varenna😢
ORANGE GRANITAAAAA it was so good €1 only, by far the cheapest and nicest😂😂😂 so refreshing after a heavy creamy pasta meal!
We were so hungry we just walked into a cafe that seemed reasonable and had a lot of people and decided to have our lunch (and dinner) at 4pm. We were starving so we didn't really care for the name/tripadvisor reccommendations; just the price😂 we each decided to order our own food - lasagna, carbonara (mine), pizza with mushroom/artichokes/ham/tomato base/cheese, and tagli-sth (some sort of pasta i don't know how to spell). It was yums👍
Exploring the town of Bellagio😍😍😍 it has an open air market selling all kinds of handcrafted items, such as wooden goods, pressed flowers, paintings, hand-sewn bags and handkerchiefs, mainly decoratives.
Walked around the town of Varenna before taking a ferry towards Bellagio! The ferry went across Lake Como and again we got great views😍😍😍
THE FIRST THING WE DID AT VARENNA: We stumbled across this Gelateria which is THE ABSOLUTE BEST in terms of fruit gelatos!!! The fruit flavours are made with real fruits and had fruit bits in them! We were actually looking for Gelateria Riva but we (jac and i) went into La Passerella thinking it was Riva😂 and ended up with better gelato than what Riva could have offered (deli and candice tried Riva and they were very disappointed with their gelatos) this is a super good find👍 Ordered fragola/strawberry and mango and they were DE-LI-CIOUS😋
Part two: Vezio to Varenna
Part one: Walking to Varenna from Vezio! The walk rewarded us with views from the port and of Varenna town itself!
In the castle part two!
In the castle part one! WAS TOO AFRAID GOING UP TO THE TOP. The bridge and stairs felt shaky and I was literally walking like a grandma😂😂😂
These are a few shots taken at the garden just outside the castle, which already has some pretty amazing views😍 and some domesticated owls😕
Starting our day trip to Lake Como with a hike up to Castello di Vezio, which is a vantage point over Lake Como and the towns surrounding it! We met Mary and her daugher Estee who was also finding their way up to the castle and we hiked up together😊
Train from Milan to Lake Como! Yay so exciting! Probably the best train ever😊 with our Macs breakfast which is sausage and eggs + hot nesquik for €3.50
6 June 2015
Our accomm at Milan! The house is quite cool cos
1. the flushing system is like a tap handle
2. periodic table as a shower curtain😂😂😂👍
3. there is a piano and a guitar (we are staying in a musician's apartment)
4. hugeeee collection of books. I realised that most of the apartments we stayed in has a large collection of books and our hosts are all book readers😊👍
Initially we thought there wasn't any wifi and was emo-ing...until we found a piece of paper with password our reaction went from 😑to 😭to 😒to 😁
RAN FOR OUR TRAIN TO MILAN. Adrenaline is amazing because when I felt that I couldn't run anymore, my legs just kept on going. It's crazy how we realised we only had ~10mins to get to the train station, collect our luggages, and get on board the train. Not funny when we realised we mixed up the train timing thinking it was 530pm instead of 520pm. Epic day and lesson learnt, always double check your train timings.
They laughed when they saw us walk in again for the fourth (and last) time😅 we love their tiramisus too much! And here's a photo with the owner, he's really friendly and he gave us free macaron😊
Walking along the streets of Venice for the last day before we say goodbye to this touristic yet beautifully romantic city. Venice is definitely one of my highlight of the entire trip. Having learnt about the rise and fall of Venetian empires in secondary school and visiting this place myself really helped me appreciate this adventure more!
OMG FREDDO I MISS YA! Italiano sweet freddo so that I can take a break from all the walking, the sun, and to use the toilet😂😂😂
FRESH AND COLD WATERMELON JUICE OMG. In this crazy hot and dry weather, €2 for this is quite worth it I think😂😂😂
Shared with Jac and Deli a sesame crusted salmon stick and tomato shrimp soup! Yum yum! From Lino Fritto😊 Candice ate like THREE TAPAS HERSELF
Us with our Gondolier! One of the BEST EXPERIENCE in Venice, exploring back canals on a Gondola, enjoying our Gondolier's singing, and of course spamming photos😂😂😂
Gondola ride part two
Gondola ride part one
Tiramisus for Breakfast at Mercanti AGAIN. Classico-Pistachio-Nutella😋
BURANO😍😍😍 officially the prettiest island in Italy!
5 June 2015
Dinner at Trattoria al Maddonna! We shared three plates of Seafood Risotto, Cuttlefish ink Spaghetti, and Cuttlefish ink with some Venetian tofu-like thing which I didn't find very tasty. About €12 per pax for 4 people😅 but the seafood risotto is 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is the super colourful Burano Island, Venice😍😍😍
This is Murano Island, Venice! Where we went hunting for Murano glass beads like 90% of the time😂😂😂
Travel buddies in Murano island, Venice!
Supposedly the best gelato in Venice (Gelatinico)! Ordered Crocante con Rum? and it's super good😋😋😋
Cichetti for lunch! Ordered a mozarella with salmon, tuna with leek and personally my favourite, STURGEON EGGS with some sort of cheese!! One piece for €1.20 a bit pricey but have to give it a try since it's famous here!
And the day begins with some Venetian buildings before we go island hopping
4 June 2015
Oops I drank this time😂😂😂 Bellini is cheap and AWESOME
This is Shakerato from Caffe Rosso which is espresso with ice. Totally needed cold coffee to survive the day because I only had 5hours?! of sleep and the weather is CRAZY HOT.
VENICE part 3. These photos were mainly taken in San Marco Piazza which is like the main tourist town in Venice! It has a grand basilica, pedestrain shopping streets, lots of restaurants and cafes, as well as high end branded goods and leather products! A bit too commercialised!
I HAD TWO CUPS OF TIRAMISU TODAY FAT DIE ME😋😋😋 This is from I Tre Mercanti! SUPER GOOD TIRAMISU im gonna get more tomorrow!
VENICE part 2 - I like how we travelled on a Vaporetto? which is a water bus! SUPER COOL. Bought the 72hrs ticket so that we can have easy transfer around Venice and its islands (which we are gonna hop tomorrow).
ALWAYS VISIT VANTAGE POINTS. We got wonderful views of Venice in the afternoon! Paid €8 to visit which was a bit pricey and the area was small and crowded, had to squeeze around to get landscape shots. Worth it though, I like city views!😍
GIANT SEAGULLS - how on earth do they get so big?!😱because people feed them bread everyday and they also eat other dead birds like pigeons😕
Had takeaway lunch at Dal Moro. We ordered Marinara, Pesto, and Four cheeses to share. Weirdly the person gave us raw pasta to eat before receiving our order😅 it is not bad but a bit too hard for my liking though I like chewy pastas😅
VENICE part 1 - first impression: too touristy😂 no choice. The water is not clean, its green and full of seagrasses. Weather is a bit too hot in the summer and dry! But the place is very unique because of it's transportation and beautiful architectures😊😊😊 happy to be visiting Venice after studying so much about it in secondary school!
3 June 2015
Checked into our accomms outside Venice! It's called The Sunny House and it has two bedrooms and two bathrooms + a kitchen and living room! Super comfy😊
Arrival in Venice!
Yellow Bar - Napoletano x Wurstel Pizzas + Carbonara x Gnocchi. The whole meal was quite 😐 Zaza still has the best food in Florence.
DISNEY SHOP IN FLORENCE!!! Happiest buy - chip and dale tsum tsums!! Now I have a new toy to sleep with at night😂
GELATO AGAIN😂😂😂 We hunted for Grome because tripadvisor recommended us to. Cioccolato x Crema di Grome (some kinda egg cream, with choco flakes and soft biscuitlike thing). 👍👍👍
Breakfast today😂 new addition: buttered onion and carrots.
2 June 2015
Jinyi and her boyfriend + us in Florence! So happy to be able to meet up with them!:)
Dinner at Il Contadino with friends! Ordered Ravioli with truffle cream, spinach and cheese, beef steak, and mixed salad. The beef steak was very tough and well done with no sauce😒 though it was very affordable and worth it, 2 sets + side dish + bottled water.
ADVERTISEMENT FOR FRUIT JUICE😂😂😂 too desperate for fruits and vegetables here in italy. This Carrot-Lemon-Orange juice is surprisingly good and tastes very healthy😂😂😂
I ordered this frappe at a chocolate shop! Cappuccino gelato flavour. Slightly disappointing because the coffee taste was overpowered by the milk😅
This is some sort of sandwich with intestines😱 Supposedly very famous in Florence but we found it very meh and bland😅 Still very much prefer the chinese version, ten times better!
Visited a lot of cathedrals, architecture, statues, sights, etc in Florence. We finally had a taste of summer in europe and it is not pleasant - too hot and dry for comfort! Florence is very chill and we just spent our time roaming around the city centre.
Wine x Caramel chocolate 😋😋😋 The wine flavour was subtlely good and we all decided to order that😂 prob the best gelato in florence!
Breakfast this morning: home-cooked pasta, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The pasta sauce turned out surprisingly good though it was just butter, milk, oregano, salt and pepper😂😂😂
1 June 2015
Home-cooked dinner today! Apple vegetable soup, scrambled eggs and Fusilli😋 everytime we cook, we save a lot of money because this meal prob costed us a total of €5!
Checked into our accommodation at Florence, hosted by Niccolo! BEST HOST SO FAR. He picked us up with his car from the train station, drove us to a vantage point for a city view of Florence (otherwise we would have to climb up ourselves), and then showed us around the housing area and wrote us bus times and stuff. SUPER NICE. And he'a our age😂😂😂 but one neck and head taller😅
BY FAR THE CHEAPEST GELATO WE HAVE SO FAR IN ITALY! €1.50 for two generous scoops at a bakery near our accomm at Campigliano! Ordered peach x fior di latte. I like the peach flavour a lot, tastes v refreshing!
US WITH NICCOLO OVERSEEING FIRENZE
First thing we did when we stepped foot into Florence: LUNCH! At Trattoria Zaza😋 This is by far the BEST PASTA I've ever had I think! We ordered Ravioli with creamy truffle sauce (biggest thumbs up for this, our faces all went 😱😱😱😱 cos it was too good), Carbonara zaza style (which is traditional carbonara, the meat is tasty and really nice), Gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce, and Fettuccine in creamy walnut sauce (i would say this is my least favourite because it was slightly to the dry side). Overall the pastas were AWESOME! As yall can see we love creamy stuff and didn't order any tomato based😂😂😂 Can't get enough of yummy pastas in Italy!
This morning we went back to Lunch Box for our last breakfast in Cinque Terre. SAD. Because the yoghurt is so good! On the way to Florence now:)
31 May 2015
Back at Gelateria Vernazza for gelatooo! Ordered Mandarino x Milk Cream 😋😋😋
Ristorante La Lampara for dinner at Riomaggiore! My only proper meal for the day😂 Ordered seafood pasta, seafood mixed grill, and Al Quattro Formaggi pizza! The pasta is super worth it but not the mixed grill😅
Monterosso, Cinque Terre. The most crowded beach area here😑😑😑 No space to do any sunbathing😂
La Spezia, a small town outside of Cinque Terre😊
Gelato from Manarola, Amarena variegata x Coffee😋
Manarola, Cinque Terre! The town with the postcard worthy photo!
Back at Lunch Box for breakfast again😂 This time I had yoghurt with musli and chocolate sauce! YUMMMM!
30 May 2015
Fancy meeting a coursemate here in Vernazza! This is so coincidental that she decided to visit Vernazza for dinner😊😊😊
Dinner at Il Pirata, Vernazza😋 This meal is super good. We had Pesto Gnocchi, Tortellini with ham and cheese, and Risotto with mushrooms! This restaurant is supposedly best in Cinque Terre according to Tripadvisor and I must say that the food was 👍👍👍
Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre.
My reward for hiking from Vernazza to Corniglia - Frutti di bosco x Yoghurt gelato AND strawberry granita! 😋😋😋
Vernazza to Corniglia part two
Corniglia, Cinque Terre
Beauty-fly and random insect along our hike to Corniglia!
Vernazza to Corniglia part one
Pesto, Mushroom, and Stracchino cheese in Foccacia bread at Lunch Box for Breakfast!😋😋😋 Self-customised and I liked it a lot!
29 May 2015
There's no wifi 😭😭😭 hopefully tomorrow we can get the cinque terre card so that we can tap on wifi at train stations😅
This is our very dubious accommodation in Vernazza that we have no idea who is in charge and there's no reception and welcome? It's called Enrica Cameres. The location is good though we had to climb some flights of stairs to get in! But no wifi and the water heater dies in 1min😑😑😑 it's clean and cosy though!
Vernazza is a good place for photoshoots😂😂😂
SECOND GELATO FOR TODAY to make up for yesterday's lack of gelato😂😂😂 Mango with milk cream this time! €2 again😋😋😋 milk cream tastes like melted milk snow ice I want to order it again another time! Fruit gelato always tastes like the original fresh fruit👍
Vernazza from Castello Doria 😊 SO BEAUTIFUL! We had to walk up this steep and dark steps to get to the top of the castle to enjoy the views!
First gelato at Cinque Terre! Seems like there's super a lot of gelato shops here😋😋😋 €2 for banana-kiwi and coffee ice cream SO NICEEEE can't stop eating gelatooosss!
This is what we term lunner (lunch-dinner) because the train delayed so much that we only reached Cinque Terre/ Vernazza at 5pm😥 We ordered Cannelloni, Carbonara, Risotto, and Pesto pizza and I must say the pizza was the best out of all though I am more of a pasta than pizza person! Super satisfied with the meal because I only had biscuits for lunch😂
Train to La Spezia (Cinque Terre)😆 with my chocolate milkshake from Macs which costs only €1!!! and this HIT biscuit (chocolate cream sandwiched between two biscuits) is also €1 and very addictive😂 breakfast settled (+slice of bread at accomms)
28 May 2015
TRAVEL BUDDIES #puichaischasingthesun
POMPEII PART THREE (with my face) 😂😂😂
POMPEII PART TWO
I ordered this "drink" because I was very thirsty and needed to drink something cold and icy! This is italian? sweet coffee which is like melted coffee ice cream, super nice for a sunny day!
POMPEII PART ONE
Lunch at Starita, Naples. The pizzas were cheap and good! Each one was around €4-7 depending on the flavour - we ordered Margherita (the traditional pizza and originating from Naples), Martano (fried and oven-baked pizza), as well as Tartufo (truffle with cheese). I like the Tartufo best because it's super cheesy and creamy with nice truffle taste😋😋😋
Naples archaeological museum in the morning! We were lucky as they just started on their 2nd day temporary Pompeii exhibition so we had extra things to see😊 and that's me imitating Athena, Greek Goddess of War😂
GOOD MORNING!!! Two hours train ride for a day trip to Naples and Pompeii😊
27 May 2015
OKAY SO WE DIDN'T NEED PASSPORTS FOR VATICAN CITY THE POLICEMAN ANYHOW😑😑😑 waste our time and money.
Vatican city at dusk/sunset😍😍😍
VATICAN CITY!!! Country in a country how cool is that😎
Had a homely Italian dinner at Ristorante La Pilotta just outside the walls of Vatican city! We ordered Lasagna, Gnocchi with Gorgonzola, Risotto with cream and shrimps, and Ravioli stuffed with cheese and spinach in Cognac sauce! My favourite is the ravioli😂 must be cos watch too much Masterchef and dying to try authentic ravioli in Italy😋😋😋
Dying of hunger after a long day of walking so we just went into a random restaurant for italian food with a tripadvisor sign not knowing what the name of the restaurant is😂 cross fingers hope that the food is good!
Back in our accomms for awhile because we forgot that Vatican city is a country within a country and we need to bring passports😭
Yummy pizza beside Trevi Fountain, €1.90 for 100G and we ordered €7.75 worth to share😂 creamy mushroom is the best among the three though all tasted good! (Can't go wrong with pizza in Italy right😅)
BANANA AND CREAM CARAMEL GELATO!!! For €2.50 near the Victoriano😋 there are so many gelato shops in Rome we just walked into a random one that looks cheap and nice!
The importance of feeling the architecture by hand
Visited Rome attractions today! Colosseum🏃Palentine Hill🏃Arch of Constantine🏃Arch of Titus🏃Roman Forum🏃Trevi Fountain (which is still under construction)🏃and some Piazzas! Didn't have enough time to go to Pantheon though😭 It was sunny and by the time we are done with the sites it started to rain! Thank goodness.
26 May 2015
With our host's dog Kintaro😊
Took the metro all the way to Spagna just to eat Pompi😂😂😂 SUPER GOOD. We had Pistachio Tiramisu, Tiramisu Classico and Panna Cotta with summer berries. Not to forget our Gelatos (2scoops 2euro) OMG SUPER CHEAP😂😂😂 everyday eat gelato liao
Spanish steps. Too many people + bad weather = 😒
Checked into our accommodation in Rome with our host Daniele!
