Here’s another amazing vietnamese woman. My Sung was our guide during our trip to Sapa/Lao Cai. She’s not the type of guide that will tell you scientific or historic facts about the culture or the things you’re seeing. She doesn’t even know how to read or write. But she will SHOW you everything, take you to the most amazing places, show you how the culture here is and that is remarkable. When the other members of the group left (because we were the only ones staying at the homestay) she told us giggling: ‘It’s just us girls now! We can do whatever we want!’. And so we did. We drank ‘happy water’ and beer, we took our time to see things, we took selfies and she was so patient all the time. Thank you, My, for the smiles, for always searching for vegan food for me without me asking, for the hugs you gave me before I went to sleep, for teaching me how to make spring rolls, for the ‘free back massage’ after the trekking, for showing me how amazing life is and how lucky I am.

One of the best things about traveling is the people you meet on the way. These women walked with us 12 km in a very hard and slippery track, climbing the montains and through the rice fields, holding our hands when it got worse. And believe me, it can be very bad. Most of them never left the country or even Sapa. Young girls drop school to follow tourists and sell bracelets. This woman was by my side the whole time, if it wasn’t her, I’d be always falling. And she was carrying her baby on her back. Getting inspired every day by amazing people 💕
