Mediterranean Cruise

3 September 2015

Venice The arrival is worth the trip very spectacular plenty of photo opportunities. Decided to stay onboard as there were three cruise ships in port as we arrived we could see every where was crowded definitely not our scene when it is so hot. We packed ready for the return home also booked a taxi for the next day and checked in online for the flight home. Wine waiter Ema, Neptune lounge Queen and Michael.

2 September 2015

Split Croatia Coach ride down the coast to Omis and there we boarded a river boat to cruise the river Cetina. The scenery was quite good and the ride was relaxing. Stopped at the Radmanove water mill which does not work now. Stepping out of the boat into a square with tables all laid out and around the outside were locals making bread, cooking food in a very traditional way. We all sat down to taste the food they had made bread, cheese and wine. The wine was better than the food, but our table had a good time.

Dubrovnik Croatia Day of relaxing and not going ashore.

31 August 2015

Kortor Montenegro Our tour took us up a mountain to an old village to taste Grappa, bread, cheese, ham and some locally made wine. Some of the villagers sang and danced while we ate. Good time was had especially as the drinks flowed freely. After that it was back down the mountain to the town to walk inside the walls in of the old place.

30 August 2015

Korcula Croatia Dalmation river cruise outing, no river just a boat ride around near where our ship was anchored. Had a paddle in the sea before heading back to the ship.

29 August 2015

Kerkira Corfu Sights of Corfu tour that turned out to be a coach trip up the side of a mountain to a viewing point and back. Not worth doing.

28 August 2015

Argostoli Cephalonia Island Greece Tour today to see Drogarati Cave and Melissani lake. Cave not worth the 165 steps needed to get to there, not easy access. Lake part of trip was good, found out the lake was named after the Nymph Melissa in Greek mythology. Relaxing afterwards the temperature is increasing.

27 August 2015

At sea today. Morning full of invitations Mariners do and lunch, wine tasting this left us with very little time to relax and read.

26 August 2015

Valletta Morning tour to visit the Medina glass blowing, Cathedral and Mosta Dome. Relaxing in the afternoon before dinner.

25 August 2015

Messina As our tour had been cancelled we decided to have a pamper day Sylvia had a facial and nails whilst I had a neck and back massage. Did not like the comedian in the theatre so we left early and went to B.B. Kings again. Bed time.

Checked out and told the concierge about our transport to the port and sat down to wait. Only sat for a couple of minutes when the driver found us. Journey took only 40 minutes not the two hours that I had read on the net. Good driver and company would use them again. Check in took longer as the computers were down. One of the first onboard because of our status and cabin type. Cabin great, have our own concierge area where we had champagne before going back to our cabin to unpack. Then a tour of the ship to find out where everything is and get our library books. Next on the agenda an invitation to the Captains cocktail party more champagne. After the evening meal we walked around the ship then watched BB Kings blues and jazz band. Back in our room we found out our tour of Sicily was cancelled. Bed time.

23 August 2015

Holiday starts today as we fly out of LGW to Rome the Club seating is not much better than coach, just two abreast rather than three. Hilton airport hotel was not signposted very well from the arrivals hall and took us longer than expected to find it and check in. After we got to our room we found out that the F1 was not on the television, this made up our minds to have a tour of Rome. The concierge helped us arrange a taxi tour for 2.5hrs at €120. It was the best way of seeing all the sights rather than walking around after catching a coach into Rome. The temperature was 30 degrees and we had still had enough before the taxi driver had finished showing everything. Food in the hotel restaurant not very good that evening, next bed it has been a long day. Breakfast was better.
