Portland Food & Design Trip

18 September 2017

I'm in love with Portland. It has everything I need. Great food, beautiful nature, and genuine people. I've never met people like them in any other places. Everyone is so friendly and genuine from the heart. Not fakey at all! Next time, I'm definitely staying in the Clinton area but maybe I'll check out the Nob Hill area and Alberta Street too.
Had burgers from Little Big Burgers. It was delicious but a bit small. Really tasty homemade ketchup and mayo sauce.
👍 Visited the International Rose Test Garden. It was so much better than I thought. Hundreds of beautiful roses everywhere. Love to visit one more time for the garden, Japanese garden, and other attractions in the Washington Park.
Cute vintage store at Mississippi area.
👍 Blue Star donuts! Wasn't too sweet and so delicious!
Visited Nong's Kai Man Gai restaurant and had the famous chicken and rice again. I can eat this everyday!
Mt. Tabor! So close to our place. Remind me the Rockies because of the tall trees 🌲

👍 Went to Bollywood Theatre! So cool space and concept! It's really hip place to eat Indian food and drinks. Really love the Indian vintage decor. The food was so yummy too!
👍 Went to Imperial Bottle Shop & Taproom. It's really cool concept. There are a lot of local beer and wine stocks in the fridges and you can pick up whatever you want and bring it to the bartender and pay. They have two simple snacks and but you can bring our own food.
👍Had a lunch at Afuri. It's their first location outside of Japan. They are known for Yuzu Shio ramen so I had it and it was so good! - really clean and refreshing yuzu broth!
Went to Portland's Saturday Market. There are a lot of local vendors/makers selling arts and crafts. Really liked this one selling cute cushions and blankets.

👍 Went to Bamboo Sushi for the dinner. It is the first sustainable sushi restaurant in the world. Loved everything I had. Especially their fresh sashimi, sushi and shishito pepper. Other hot dishes were ok. A bit pricey.
Went to the Whiskey Library again with my cousin!
👍 Went to eat lunch at the famous Thai restaurant, pok pok. The food was so good and authentic!!!
Checked out cute stationary shop, Little Otsu, in the Clinton area.

👍 Went to Multnomah Whiskey Library. It was quite an experience. They have extensive collections of whiskeys. The bartender comes up to you and takes you the order and makes drinks in front of you. If you are the whiskey fan, this place is the must to visit.
👍 Portland is famous for food trucks and we visited one of the most famous truck, Nong's Khao Man Gai. They have only one menu, chicken and rice but it's super good and tasty. Really wanna come back next time!
Went a couple of design boutique shops around the Powell's bookstore. So many cute stuff!!! The highlight is Made Here PDX store where you can buy cool locally designed and made goods.
Went to downtown and the first stop was Powell's City of Books. It was super huge book store. Worth seeing.
👍 Had the famous Salt & Straw ice cream!!! It was amazing!!! I'd love to come back for more.
Had craving for rice and noodle soups so had lunch at Yataimura Maru. To be honest, it wasn't exceptional amazing, but was a good meal.
Had a morning coffee at Dapper and Wise Roasters. Really like their lightly roasted coffees.

👍 We went to Toro Bravos, a famous Spanish tapas restaurant. Had amazing 11 course tasting menu! It was only $45 per person. Really enjoyed every dishes. Really wanna try their octopus dish and paella next time.
We had a brunch at Cafe Broder. It serves Nordic brunch. Nice vibe and good food.
👍 Stopped by the first Stumptown Coffee store. It was very cosy and artsy - the wall was decorated by artworks.
I love the Clinton neighborhood! There are so many places to eat and every stores are so artsy and lovely! I saw drawing studio, stained glass studio, and furniture studio.
👍 Absolutely love the accommodation! Wanna come back next time. - It's very private. It's quiet. You don't hear anything at night. - It's spacious and convenient because of the full ensuite bathroom. - Especially the location! So close to many cool restaurants and bars in the neighbourhood. There are a bus stop for number 4 and it directly goes to downtown. - The host is very thoughtful providing fruits and pastries every morning.
