Sidney Nebraska is the worlds headquarters for Cabelas. In town is the Cabelas Mansion where the owners live although Cabelas was sold to Bass Pro in October. The Mansion took up a whole city block and was decorated with many animal sculptures. The Cabelas store had many stuffed animals that had been hunted, like the African elephant shot by one of the Cabelas owners. There was a nearby duck pond, pony express monument, and a war memorial garden. On our way out of town, we visited "Carhenge".

Today we drove the scenic road to Mount Rushmore National Memorial and on to the beautiful Sylvan Lake. What a great spot for hiking and photos. We continued on the Needles Highway through high limestone pinnacles and tunnels through the rock. En route we saw wild turkeys, a bison, and deer as we drove through Custer State Park. Lastly we stopped to see the Chimney Rock historic site before arriving at our hotel in Sidney Nebraska.
