31 January 2018. Life's been so busy I forgot about this blog! So many changes since the last post at the end of August.
- Kathryn did an oil painting of the borderers with the Zapp family car emerging from it.
- We went to India for a month and has a blast.
- Gail didn't know the true meaning of cold till we returned end December.
- Rooms have been remembered starting from 1.
- Rooms 1,2,3 and 8 have been very nicely refurbished and we have run out of money having underestimated the expense.
- Kevin's getting used to the place and the job.
- Gas fire packed up
- Graham Wilson's sculptures for the royal British Legion are for sale at the borderers!

Baskets are blooming!!!! All the inside baskets are up and the outside ones are ready and waiting to be put up. Thanks Jan!!!
Some of Gails happiest times are when she finds a place to stay for exhausted travelers, in other bnbs. Like the van der zon's and Dr pat Wallace and his wife Siobhan. Then there were the adorable couple Stuart and Phil who stayed in room two and were so gracious throughout.
Makes the job feel worth it.

A week of firsts and finallys! Finally a breakfast I can be proud to serve up, thanks to Ikea, we have somewhere to sit, we survived our first fully booked weekend and I made our first notification to trip advisor about a spiteful review.
Completely knackered, but happy!

Beast of a new fridge arrived today, nearly an hour late, they had to take the door off the hinges to get it in. When we finally switch it on, wonder of wonders, the water pipes aren't connected and I nearly flood the kitchen!
Poor Kevin not well so spent most of the day in the flat, but he did make over two rooms by himself, very beautifully too!

Jan made the most beautiful roast beef dinner today! And pannacotta for dessert... So beautiful to look at and simply divine to taste.

New bed arrived today! It's gorgeous, but lots higher than previous ones so looks smaller than previous ones, Gail ran over in a panic to the furniture man, but turns out we fit just fine!
A man came in off the road and asked if we had a room for the night I showed him around and then his wife came around and they took room 9.
Had a lovely dinner of leftovers with Ian and Jan, playing with Jan's new phone after.

Woke up this morning and the first call was from someone who wanted to use a buy a gift voucher! They are the bane of the small business owners life! Because they are usually two nights stay for the price of one and the voucher company takes 33%. Not fair at all. Then two cancellations😞.
But the lady who was sick was kind enough to cancel on b.com and she said she they took £50 off her and she was sorry if we didn't get any of the money. We would have, but I called the company to return her money and that made me feel good.
Then another voucher booking on two weekdays, I said no, but he was so polite and nice, I took the bookings, we had a chat and I explained why most people don't like the vouchers. He called back later and with 2 vouchers that he wants to use for 3 days! So they give us a day free!😁
Slowly getting there! People friendly-animal friendly earth friendly-good karma bath stuff sorted with Myddfai.

Suzanne from Finland for one night tomorrow! Susanne from Finland gave us 90 pound cash for 3 people in the end AND left a lovely note in the guest book! Our very first!
