Emily's voyage in Thailand

6 May 2017

Oh man what an epic end to an incredible adventure - we got up early to jump on our own tour boat and headed to some of the most crystal clear unbelievable water I've ever seen and swam in in my life! First stop was Phi Phi Island where Leonardo DiCaprio jumped in that beautiful water where The Beach was filmed 😍. We then hopped over to a gorgeous open air "cave" and swam in the most beautiful water with soft white sand under our feet. We then got to see "monkey beach" where these adorable lil monkey families run around; waiting on the beach for humans to feed them bananas! Got to drink coconut coolers out of coconuts and enjoyed the incredible day on our own personal boat tour!! This is hands down one of the best trips of my life - I cannot wait to go back!!!! Thank you for following our journey, until next time ;)

We had to say goodbye to our beautiful villa in Koh Phangan and head to the mainland on the other side of Thailand. We wanted to get over to The Phi Phi Islands where the iconic Leonardo DiCaprio movie, The Beach, was shot! We had to get rid of our giant Chang beers; naturally we didn't want to waste them so the drinking commenced at 8am😂 Cruised by ferry and then flight to Krabi and booked our stay at the unbelievable Sofitel right on the water. It's such a beautiful & sophisticated resort and a beautiful way to splurge before we head out Sunday!

Thursday we went back to our favorite bar on Secret Beach and enjoyed a full day of postin up, eating, enjoying delicious & fun cocktails and jumping off into the warm ocean water. We had so much fun as a group and were so happy we found this little slice of heaven the day before so we could come back and enjoy it again!! We went out for massages afterward, it's only $6-10 for an hour long massage which is unreal and it felt incredible. We loved it so much we all stayed for a half an hour foot massage😂 Finally we ate at this adorable authentic Thai spot called Mama Poohs kitchen :). Full bellies, relaxed bodies made for a wonderful night's sleep!

One of my favorite days in the books! Got up early to watch the sunrise, headed out for some breakfast in our quaint town. Paul tried the BBQ meat and then we all went to Vegan Heaven which was bomb!! The fresh made juices and food were unreal. We then scooted our way from beach to beach around most of the island which is one of the best ways to experience a new spot! The first beach bar we went to was absolutely stunning fit with swings, hammocks, drinks and wooden bridge that takes you out to a cement pier you can jump off of. The water was warmer than a bath 😂 We then scooted up to the next beach for a swim and cruised home via the scenic route. Oh, we also jump in the pool every chance we get to cool off;)

After a plane, bus and ferry from Bangkok to Surat Thani and our final destination Koh Phangan we made it and it is just epic!!! We're staying in Serenity Villa which is quite indicative of its name. The island is very well known for its full moon party which occurs every 30 days, they also have half moon parties so pretty much twice a month they get down! It definitely doesn't feel like party land tho because of how serene our location is. We're also staying in a very popular area for Yoga & healing centers! We took a 10 min walk into town for some Thai food and our favorite Chang beer! Stopped at the small mart and found some interesting snacks! Jumped in the pool and Paul and I enjoyed the sunrise at 6am 😍

Got our Red Light District on at Khao San Road last night! Our sleep cycles are for sure messed up - after the pool we all passed out from 5pm-11:30pm, woke up and knew if we continued sleeping thru the night wed horribly regret not seeing the nightlife. There are 3 popular red light districts in Bangkok so we took the suggestion of the "most poppin" and left at 1am for fun. As we were driving, it's unreal how many people and families are out and about shopping for clothes at the little street markets at 2am!?! Khao San is a mix of New Orleans, Vegas and probably Amsterdam sans weed since it's incredible illegal and you could go to jail if you are caught buying it. People had signs that said "laughing gas" and were calling for us to come over and try. They had massage stations set up for $10-30 bucks for hour long massages - definitely want to try one! We walked through this little alley called Suzies Alley to come out to a really cozy, chill street where we got 3am dinner:)

19 hours later we made it to Bangkok!! We are 14 hours ahead here so by the time we usually wake up in San Diego we'll be hitting the nightlife here in Bangkok pretty shortly! Surprisingly the flights weren't bad at all and "flew" by - no pun intended!! We got to our hotel at 1pm, located in the middle of the city; we dropped our bags and started exploring. It's soooo unbelievably hot and sticky here so popped into a few air conditioned stores - they sell all kinds of name brand jewelry, watches & sunglasses who knows how real they are tho ;). There are also tons of spots to stop in for a quick massage. Last shop was a leather store fit with lizard feet purses yikes! Stopped for a few delicious cold brews & got fresh made pad Thai on the street it was delicious! Everything is incredibly cheap here - $3 beer; $1.20 Pad Thai yes plz!! Took a quick dip in the pool and hope to explore some fun and maybe a lil wild spot downtown tonight!
