Thanks for following!!😎🍷❤️🇨🇦
13 July 2017
If you zoom into the fields along the the river, they mimic the layout of the seigneurial system of New France in the 1620's ... cool 😎!
Following the St. Lawrence River towards Quebec City!
In Quebec now ... nice drive towards Rivière-du-Loup. That's Lac Temiscouata!
12 July 2017
Nice park ... super clean, well maintained!
Car museum, botanical gardens, pool and amphitheater plus right on the Madawaska River!
All set up on site 18 at "de la republique Provincial Park. Not too far from Edmondston ... right on the New Brunswick-Quebec border.
In case a trivia question comes your way... yes, their is a potato museum ... its near Simonds NB and it's aptly named "Potato World 🌎 "
We did not stop... I prefer to eat my potatoes rather than look 👀 at them!
Leaving PEI ... back over the bridge!
They let you on the Island for free... but they get you when your vacation is over... to the tune of $56.
That's $4.30 per kilometer!!
It must be something of a Kraus ... last nite in PEI tradition! Two years ago, Christopher and Helen had a skunk visit them in the vestibule of their tent ⛺️!
Last night momma raccoon and her babies did a tap dance routine on the roof of the trailer... and later another routine... and later a third routine culminating in a big fight! Not much sleep!
11 July 2017
Another beautiful sunset!
Unfortunately, we have to head back to St. Bruno tomorrow... Heather does Not want to go home! She loves the gypsy life!
Sitting around the fire 🔥 and had some visitors ... a mother raccoon and 5 babies!
We also had a beautiful fox 🦊 come through our campsite Sunday morning!
"What does the fox 🦊 say?"
The Harbor in Darnley Basin!
Had to navigate the jellyfish mine field!
Went for a walk on Cabot beach... around the dunes... into Darnley Basin.
17 new stickers on this trip ... can you find them all ?
Yikes... 16 months and my 60,000 km warranty has vaporized!
Went to Avonlea Village for lunch ... believe it or not... great pizza!
Stopped in the National Park at Cavendish... Red cliffs, red sand, red chairs!
This is the house with the Green Gables!
This is where Matthew and Marilla adopted Anne Shirley ... so I have been told! This is not for real but the Japanese love ❤️ it! We were out of here in 15 minutes... if you plan to visit, I would wait till Canada's 200 anniversary!
Hey, is that Anne in the carriage... let's take a closer look!
It is Anne! She is what you call .. handsome! You know what that means!!!
Brand new gift store... everything Anne of Green Gables... all made in China!
Off to Green Gables Heritage Site in Cavendish. Heather wanted to go.. it's free for 2017.
10 July 2017
Yes.. that's 🔥 inside our screen shelter!
The joy of a propane fire pit!
Scandal in Avonlea ... as we were driving by ... we saw Anne and Gilbert skinny dipping in the "Lake of Shining Waters "!
One on the most painted and photographed panoramas on PEI ... the fishing village of French River!
Cool little fishing station at New London!
At the Cavendish Board ... it's very short!
Carly's favorite cow! 🐮
I had the "Wowie Cowie" and Heather had the "Caramel Moochiato"!
Btw: They have a small bank on site so you can get a line of credit to buy your icecream 🍦!
Did I mention delicious 😋🍦😀🐮🍦
The birthplace of Lucy Maud Montgomery... $4.25 to put your head in the door!
Gentle rolling hills and miles of potato fields 🥔!
After the bake shop decided we needed something more decadent... Cow's legendary ice cream 🍦!
So we're heading towards Cavendish!
Good morning 😃... had to beat the throngs to Mary's Bake Shoppe ... loaded up on cinnamon buns, oatmeal/rhubarb muffins and garlic cheese bread! It's going to be a great day! Yum 👅!
9 July 2017
"Thunder Moon" over Darnley Basin!
Fantastic sunset 🌅 over Malpeque Bay!
And then back to the beach!
It was rough ... had to lean back in my beach chair and sip a cold Blueberry Ale from Gahan Brewery!
Don't worry, Heather was attached to her Chardonnay!
Got some groceries in the morning and found a funky new restaurant in Kensington ... the Broadway 45!
Heather had the Fish n Chips ... fresh haddock.... she said, "Best ever!"
I had a ... are you ready for this... a peanut butter and brie panini with caramelized onion chutney!
Different yet delicious!
8 July 2017
And a beautiful sunset over Malpeque Bay!
Jellyfish by the gazillions !
I wonder if I rub them on my knees ... better than Voltaren?
Back to the beach!
This is of course after going to Mary's Bakery in Kensington... cinnamon buns and garlic cheese bread!
7 July 2017
Nice sunset 🌅!!
Evening stroll on the beach 🌊!
Here we are finally arriving at Cabot Beach Provincial Park! We've been coming to this Park over the last thirty years!!
This is in Kensington... the smallest Tim Hortons in the world! Yes, half is the drive through!
I'm not sure if this is a Tiny Tims or a Half Hortons!
Cavendish Farms ... the Fort Knox of hash browns!! Brings a tear to my eye !
The land of potatoes!!
Finally arriving on the red soil for our 22nd time ... can you believe it!
Heading for the Confederation Bridge ... I do not like this at all ... creeps me out!
Round and round we go ... and a quick right to PEI. 😀
Finally made it back to the Trans Canada 🇨🇦 Highway at the Canso Causeway.
Change in plans ... instead of heading back to Montreal... the weather looks good ... so slight detour to Prince Edward Island... for 5 days ... Did someone say beach!!
Somehow good ole google maps put us on the Grand Narrows highway ... with the emphasis on Narrow!! We are supposed to be on the other side of St. Andrew's Channel ! Beautiful scenery though!!
6 July 2017
Here's our campsite at Mira River and some pics of the waterfront! Nice park👍🏻👍🏻
Had to stop at one of the finer dining establishments in Louisburg ... "The Louisburger Chip Wagon" !!
Had to checkout the "Louisburg Lighthouse". It's an active lighthouse... 4th generation!
First one was built in 1734 ... oldest in Canada 🇨🇦!
Time to leave ... just have to sneak past the guard!!
Cool pic of guards on top of the wall!
You wouldn't believe from the blue sky... but was cold and really windy!
This was in the Governor's house... a series of gears, pullies and weights which would automatically rotate a spit over the fire! This was very expensive at the time!
The governor could of hired a human being to turn the spit for a whole year .. for less!!
Entering the fort through one of the main gates!
At Louisburg Visitor Center ... pretty cool.. from the center, they shuttle you by bus to the fort ... about 3 kilometers!
By the way... Louisburg is a "Fortress " not a fort! A fortress encloses a community or village. A fort is just a military installation!
Going through a little town of Louisburg!
5 July 2017
Arriving at Mira River Provincial Park!
Tomorrow... Fort Louisburg!
Leaving the belly of the beast!
Heather recreating the roll of Rose!
We're about half way: you are able to see Newfoundland, Cape Breton and les Isles De Madeleines ! Pretty cool!

4 July 2017
This large sign with bold red print is specific to men and boys!
Within the campground ⛺️ is a cool waterfall !
Beautiful day ... this is the beach at the park... what a bonus ! July 4th and there's still snow on the mountains!
3 July 2017
Torrential rains and hail this evening as a strong cold front came through!
And back to where our Newfoundland odyssey began at JT Cheeseman Provincial Park!
And another hour or so and blue skies again!
Those are the Table Mountains in the Codroy Valley... the top end of Appalachian Mountains!
About an hour later ... and back into the "Death Fog" !
Blue skies at Cornerbrook ... stopped at Loblaws to stock up on food!
It's clearing up! 😀
There is still some rain but hoping it will clear!
It poured all night... heading back towards Port aux Basques... going to get Ferry to North Sydney on Wednesday!
2 July 2017
Found a cool little place right at the water's edge in Norris Point! It's called "The Cat Stop .. Pub & Grub". Cat stands for catamaran... the boat that tours Bonne Bay! Had veggie spring rolls, fried pickles and Iceberg beer ... it doesn't get much better than this!
We changed campgrounds ⛺️... still in Gros Morne... but now at Berry Hill.
We have electricity... but no wifi!
Beautiful campground... a lot of our tax dollars 💵 here!
Off to explore the little town of Norris Point ... rumor has it, there might be a gas station ⛽️!
Sea 3 whales 🐳🐳🐳 this morning!
Icebergs, puffins, moose and whales ... our list is complete... we now allowed to leave the Rock!
1 July 2017
More sunset pics overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence!!
Wine, woman and song ... and fire 🔥!!
Cool 😎 sunset 🌅!!
Cool Coastal Trail!
The cardinal rule of RVing is: "Whenever and wherever you back in successfully or unsuccessfully... you must toast the occasion"! Cheers!!
Finally arrived at Green Point Campground in Gros Morne!
It's $15 a nite to camp and $10 per bundle of wood!!
Found the "Little Red Chip Wagon " at Parsons Pond " ... patates frites for Canada 🇨🇦 Day!
We kinda look like Newfoundland's version of Bonnie and Clyde!
Beautiful blue skies along the Viking Trail!
Blue skies... and Long Range Mountains meet the sea again!
Renegade iceberg on the west coast!
It's quite interesting... on Crown Land(Government land) ... at the side of the road people set up little gardens and the are given a permit to cut wood!
They leave the wood at the side of the road to dry and pick it up in the Fall!
Good morning... heading down the West coast to Gros Morne!
Yipper ... the fog, the potholes, the frost heaves, and the moose! Oh joy!!!
30 June 2017
Cool sunset 🌅!
You know what they say, "Pink sky at night ... the moose will give you a fright!"
On the way back ... found a cool place ... The Dark Tickle Company... they make jams , have a cool gift shop, a historical museum and a restaurant!
Bought some cool stuff and had a great lunch... homemade carrot 🥕 and lentil soup and an apple 🍎 cheddar panini!
Now you know why the Vikings left ...nothing but limestone and tundra!
FYI ... it's a balmy 4 degrees Celsius... with the windchill .. -1 !!
Must say ... pretty cool ... sod houses... the real estate.. of the future!
Locals taking their job way to seriously!!
Recreation of Norse settlement ... aka ... the first seniors residence!!
Super cool place... now I know where my tax dollars is going!!!
Heather being slapped in the head by Eric the Red !!
Arriving at l'anse aux meadows... the Viking Settlement ... in the mood to pillage and plunder!
On our way to l'anse aux meadows!
How ironic ... you can see the backside of a moose and the backside of a McGill sticker!!
29 June 2017
I killed a moose with my bare hands and filleted it into moose steaks with my Swiss Army knife !
Actually... grilled baby potatoes and veggie dogs!!
Our campsite seems to be part of a moose trail!
Arriving at Pistolet Bay Provincial Park!
This is our humble abode for the next few days!
Our first moose !!!
I guess at some point in the future when erosion takes over ... they'll have to call it "Fallen Arches Provincial Park "!
That's pretty witty.. eh!
Super cool 😎!
Stopped at Arches Provincial Park.. yes to see the arches!
Heading up the West coast... very gentle hills but still thousands of "nit de poules ".
Good morning!! Getting ready to leave for Pistolet Bay Provincial Park! The bugs are ferocious!
28 June 2017
Here's a picture of Kevin and Alain!
They served maple planked salmon with a mustard dill sauce served with 🔥 braised root vegetables.
Heather gives it 2 yums up !👅👅
Pretty cool... Kevin Barnes (indigenous interpreter for Parks Canada 🇨🇦 ) along with friends shared some history, song and traditions of the Mi'kmaq people!
There were about 80 people and we did a ceremonial chant in the 🔥circle... a Mi'kmaq version of Koombaya!
Timing is everything!! At 7:00 in the park ... there was a Traditional Fire 🔥 Circle and the Gros Morne Chef in Residence!
Here's Heather's sand dollar collection!
The designs are 😎!
Heading back to the dock.
Simply amazing... and this to your list!!
This cliff is 200 meters taller than the CN Tower!
We all know that the 1st anniversary is paper, the 25th is silver and the 50th is gold ... but what is 37?
It's " fiord " ... how perfect!
This is what 37 years of marriage looks like! Yipper... it's our anniversary!!
The infamous "Pissing Mare Falls" ... those Newfies ... say it like it is!!
Super cool 😎... might be a lot of pictures coming!
Standing in line like cattle 🐮🐮🐮.
There are two boats and the first 80 in line can sit up on the top deck!
We made on top of the West Brook II
Good morning... heading off to Western Brook Pond... one of the jewels 💎 of Gros Morne National Park!
3 km walk in ... 2 hour boat tour... 3 km walk back to 🚗.
27 June 2017
A few more pics at sunset 🌅!!
Earnest Hemingway was probably thinking of me when he wrote "Old Man and the Sea" ... probably!!
Great 👍🏻 beach ⛱!
Heather found a sand dollar!
Cool 😎... they're a type of sea urchin!
Surprise bonus 😊
Found the "Old Mail Road" trail ... very short but look where it took us!
A beautiful sandy beach... about 4 km.
Sand dunes too! Reminded us of PEI !
Arriving at camp and setting up on site 27! The mosquitoes are ferocious... had to put up the screen tent!
Arriving at the village of Cow Head where Shallow Bay campground ⛺️ is located!
Gulf of St. Lawrence to the left and the Long Range Mountains to the interior!
Stopped at the Visitor center on the other side of the park.
The hills are crazy, construction but the scenery is spectacular!
Now on the 430 heading for Rocky Harbor.
Here's that crazy 350ish degree turn again ... except downhill!
Leaving the southwest side of Gros Morne (Trout River) and heading for North edge of the Park at Cow Head!
It's going down be quite the drive!!
26 June 2017
Here we are in Trout River in front we the Jakeman Allgrade School !
Yipper ... all da grades!
One of my favorite pics so far!!
As Bradley Cooper said in the movie Aloha, "Super cool, Super Super cool!!"
Back to the Visitor Center to try another hike. It would have taken about 2+ hours and pretty steep. I said "yes", Heather said "No" and my knees said " NO" !!
I was out voted 3 to 1 .. so we headed to the Village of Trout River!
Found a couple more of the infamous red chairs... overlooking the Tablelands!
Heading back to the 🚗!
At the lookout... old knees and old rocks!
You can climb to the top but the trail is unmarked... you need lots of time and lots of leg !
Cool boardwalk to the lookout!
Cool 😎 🌱plant ... I think it's a Pitcher plant .
Pretty amazing terrain!
The Tablelands are where tectonic plates collided and pushed the Earth's 🌎mantle to the surface! Pretty cool !
My poor knee is hanging in there!
Onward McDuff !
Starting our trek into the Tablelands... 4 to 5 kilometers on relatively flat ground!
Good morning... on our way to the Tablelands!
25 June 2017
It's "Taco Nite" in Gros Morne !!
Mucho delisioso !
After a long day of travel ... We're all set up ... time for a Quidi Vidi Honey Brown Ale 🍺or🍺🍺
Finally arriving at the campground ⛺️
Tablelands look amazing 😉... that's where we're going tomorrow!
Headed to Trout River and Tablelands!
A few pics from the Discovery Center!
Up the hill to the Visitor/Discovery Center! Cool place ... great exhibits, maps and of Heather found another sticker!!
When you get to Woody Point on the 431 ... you then have to do a 350 degree turn to the left uphill !!
Crazy at best ... but pulling a trailer!!
Entering the park... then head down the 431 to Trout River.
Scenery is spectacular!
Headed down (and up) the TCH toward Gros Morne!
Time for my morning hash brown fix at Tim's in Lewisporte. Sunday morning.. and only old men in here complaining about their wives, weather and prostates!
Good morning ☀️ the sun is out and we have blue sky and no fog ... but we have potholes .. there are ALWAYS potholes!
We're headed back to the west coast to the world renown Gros Morne National Park!
24 June 2017
Some pics out the window on the ferry back... cool 😎 to see how much ice is below the surface ... not so cool is the sound when we hit these!
Heading back to get the ferry from Fogo to Farewell!
Good timing ... the fog and ☔️ is rolling in!
Had to kill some time before heading back to the ferry. Remembered we had a coffee on the ferry on the way over from The Flat Earth Coffee Company... and low and behold... it was two minutes away!
Great 👍🏻 coffee ☕️ and conversation!!
And Flat Earth Museum!!
Went to the south side of Shoal Bay ... yipper.. more icebergs and more pictures of the Inn. It looks a little odd next to the houses in the village.
Found a funky little restaurant... Nicole's Cafe... great food ... You gotta eat here!!
Found it ... super ultra modern!
Justin and Sophie Trudeau stayed there last year.
The rooms start at $1500 per night! Yikes!
Heading off in the direction of Joe Batts Arm and the Barr'd Islands... yes , they are two little communities on Fogo. We are looking for the fancy pants Fogo Island Inn.
Time to head back down!
View from the top of Brimstone Head ... spectacular... icebergs galore!
This is one of the 4 corners of the earth... according to the "Flat Earth Society" !
Just about there... made it!
Great trail ... little scary ... and very windy!
This's where the trailhead starts!
Short hike ... all up!
The local Lions Club has their Meeting Hall and a mini RV park .. right at the edge of the ocean 🌊... fantastic!
To the town of Fogo first ... the weather has cleared and we're looking for Brimstone Head hiking trail!
Off the ferry and ice everywhere!!
I put this under entertainment! When we landed at Fogo we were facing bow first ... which means all the 🚗and🚛are now facing the wrong way!
Evidently, the rear loading platform is broken and we have to back out! There were 3 huge transport trucks that had to back out first! I had to do 5 point turn inside the ferry to get turned around!
And onward to Fogo Island
Arriving at Change Islands... a few 🚗🚗off and a few 🚗🚛 on!
Ice everywhere... you should hear the sound as the ferry hits these pieces!!
Not a good feeling ... I can hear Celine Dion 🎤 now!!
Heading out ... just leaving Farewell for the Change Islands. We have to stop there first because only one ferry is in service!
Into the belly of the beast!
Arriving at the ferry terminal.
That eerie shape is the distance is the Black Pearl... I mean the Ferry coming in!
Heading out this morning... into the fog... yet again! In search of the Ferry ⛴ to Fogo Island!
23 June 2017
Back to our campsite!!
And much to Heather's delight.... wine flavored ice cream! After today, she said, she's staying in Newfoundland forever... The Lard Tunderin!!!
Heather had the traditional Newfoundland "fish and chips " and I had the traditional Newfoundland veggie rice, black bean and corn wrap !
Guess what we found in Twillingate... the Auk Island Winery and restaurant!
So we tasted and then we ate and ... we might have tasted some more!!
They really do hav a "Moose Joose " wine!
Super cool 😎 iceberg in Twillingate... a baby dinosaur or a monster sock puppet!
And this is when Heather forgot to give me my ADHD treats!
Staying at Dildo Run ... hiking the "Horney Head" and "Cuckold Point" trails"
Only in NL ... Stunned 😳 as me arse!
More ... super cool!
And they have hiking trails along the cliffs.
They're called the "Trails of Impending Doom "
Did you know that, this is the tallest lighthouse in the world... that's in the shape of a milk bottle 🍼!!
I just made that up!!
And ... we found both!
And now we our on our way to Crow Head in search of lighthouses and icebergs!
And here I'm petting an iceberg on the head ... they like that ... if you're gentle, they will be your friend forever... or until they melt... they're not that bright!
Super cool 😎!
I just caught a 10,000 year old piece of ice!! And being a man ... I am going to stick my tongue 👅 on it! And that's when Heather called 911 ... which means the volunteer fire department ... which means the cod fisherman who lives on the corner!
On or way to Twillingate this morning... in the heart ❤️ of iceberg alley! Be prepared... there's going to be a lot of iceberg pics a comin'
22 June 2017
This is where our campsite is geolocated ... according to google maps!
Our campsite is right on ocean ... can't beat that for 30 bucks.... in NL it's "tirty bucks" ... the letter "h" has very little use here!
Just about there ... oh, yes ... there's the Park now ... believe or not ... we're staying at Dildo Run Provincial Park!!
Don't ask ... it's Newfoundland!!
Heading towards Twillingate... back on the coast following all the bays!
On the "Road to the Shore "
Vegetation is pretty sparse again.
Stopped in Clarenville ... you can see Heather added a few more stickers!
Finally out of the fog ... you know what that means ... Tim Horton's ... dark roast, muffin and hash brown!
Did I mention... "Death Fog " along the TCH !!
Worth NOT seeing.... back into the fog ... heading Twillingate and Fogo Island!
21 June 2017
Heading back to the trailer! After another windy day!
Canada 🇨🇦 150 red chairs are placed at a number of historic sites!
Looking out of the original lighthouse window!
Different stages of the lighthouse over the years!
Up to the lighthouse!
This from Cape Spear looking toward Signal Hill and St. John's!
Almost at the Visitor's Center!
Going through Petty Harbor and Maddox Cove! On our way to Cape Spear!
20 June 2017
Super windy ... I used my wind anemometer to measure the wind speed... I took a reading of over 400kph ... as you can see ... the wind removed all the hair from my forehead!
Super cool... super windy... super high... super scary!! I might have peed a little bit .. or a lot!
Heading up to Signal Hill!
Stopped at the visitor center... Signal Hill was the place where Marconi broadcast the first episode of "Lavern and Shirley"!!
Heading up to Signal Hill!
This is a place called Jack Axes ... you can consume alcohol and throw real axes!
A winning combination! May have to try it out!!
Driving through Jellybean Row!
On our way to St. John's !
19 June 2017
We finally made it to La Manche Provincial Park... and large quantities of alcohol will now be consumed!!
And then between the towns of "Goobies" and "Dildo", we hit the "Death Fog"!
Yes, google it, they're actual towns!
And to top it off ... black flies (called little nippers in Nfld) ... crawled down from under my baseball ⚾️ cap and fleeked my eyebrows!!! Not my best day!
But I have frekin awesome 👏 eyebrows!
Beautiful morning... leaving Lockston Path Provincial Park ... headed toward the TCH ( Trans Canada 🇨🇦 Highway) ... and on to La Manche Provincial Park!
We have seen a number of these quasi Viking fences (pens) ... so I asked ... are these fences to protect your garden ... they said no ... we don't have universal Daycare yet ... so each village corrals kids up to Kindergarten age!!
And this is where I fell !! This is why Heather has the keys 🔑, the credit cards 💳 , and the life insurance policy ... because I am a man!
I really didn't fall ... but it was close!
" I fought the fog and the fog won!" At about 2.5 kilometers, we turned back!!
Pretty cool though the woods (On the way to Grandmas house) ... lots of moss on the trees!!
We're headed to the point in the distance... but the frekin fog is moving in!
Cool 😎, really cool 😎😎,super cool 😎 😎😎 lookout ... sorry, in the East ... there called " look-offs" !
Probably the best maintained trails we have ever been on! Hats 🎩 off to the "Friends of Skerwink Trail" association!
You gotta see this ... add it to your bucket list!!
Ok ... the magic begins along the coastal section!
This is about 1 km in ... going through open meadow ... this is supposed to be one of the top 35 trails in North America... so far unimpressed!!
Before we head toward St. John's... thought we would try the Skerwink Trail!
18 June 2017
Icebergs and puffins!
Elliston is also the "Root Cellar " capital of the world!! The village is slowly transitioning the cellars into "Senior Housing" ... just kidding mom!
On our way back to the campground ⛺️ we decided to look for puffins!
Stopped in the village of Elliston!
This was pretty random ... as we were leaving Dungeon Park... an escapee dairy cow was being pulled by a pickup truck back home! That's one huge cow 🐮!
We are off to the town of Ellison in search of puffins!
Also on Cape Bonavista is Dungeon Provincial Park ... cool pics!
John Cabot himself! There's some evidence that he landed at Cape Bonavista in 1497!
He was heard to say " Merde, this is not the passage to China 🇨🇳, there are no spices, only rock and ice!!
Just incredible !!! Cape Bonavista .
"This land is my land, This land is your land",
"From Bonavista, to Vancouver Island ",
Ok... everyone sing!🍁🇨🇦
On to Bonavista!!!
Yes .. we found icebergs!!!
Not only did we find icebergs ... we found the motherload ... a micro-brewery and a gourmet grilled cheese food truck!!!
Went into Port Rexston in search of iceburgs!
On our way to Lockston Path Provincial Park... in the middle of nowhere!
The trees are pretty puny on the peninsula... Heather says, they are only as tall as Peter Dinklage! (Aka Game of Thrones)
Heather wanted a snack... I can't believe she ate the whole thing! Those are whale bones, by the way!
Pretty cool visitor center!
Entering Terra Nova National Park.
This is officially the "Newfie Hashbrown Tour!! I don't know what spices they put in their hash browns... but it's magically delicious!!
Gas'in up in Gander ... Say that 10 times fast !!
Stopping in Gander!
Leaving Notre Dame this morning in the rain ... on our way to Lockston Path Provincial Park on the Bonavista peninsula.
Here is a map of the Park ... a lot of sites ... we stayed on Site 11.
17 June 2017
Arriving at Notre Dame... had to set quickly before the black flies ate Heather alive! Nice 👍🏻 Provincial Park... very busy! Tomorrow we're off to the Bonavista peninsula to Lockston Path Provincial Park!
On our way to Notre Dame Provincial Park... in the middle of the province... just before Gander! Trees and rock and hills ... Oh my!
On our way to Corner Brook ... looking for hash browns ... wifi ... and diesel
16 June 2017
And descended down the "Governor's Staircase ". ... stairs in a cave... pretty cool!
Walked up to the observation deck!
I think this sign is circa 1950's !!
This is the beach from the other side, looking toward York Harbor!
This is from one side of the park looking into the bay towards Lark Harbor.
The park is on a micro-peninsula that juts into the bay.
Arriving at Blow Me Down Provincial Park!
Absolutely spectacular drive ... Heather was freaking out the whole drive!
The drive from Corner Brook to the Park rivals the Cabot Trail.
The drive is absolutely amazing!
We're now passing the "Twins " ... I would of called them something else!!
Back on the TCS ... scenery is spectacular!
This is the beach at Cheeseman Provincial Park ... getting ready to leave for "Blow Me Down Provincial Park ".
15 June 2017
I put this under the Culture and Art category because it is so Newfoundland!
They have these backpack fire extinguishers everywhere ... I guess when you arrive in Newfoundland, you are an honorary "forest fire volunteer "!
Ended up at J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park... you how we love cheese!!
Scenery is spectacular... heading down the TCH ... that's what the sign says ... took me awhile to figure out ... it's the Trans Canada Highway... By Jumpin Jesus!
Leaving the ferry... on our way somewhere! There is the sign ... we are officially in Newfoundland!
Pronounced ... NewfunLAAAND !
I thought they were pretty laid back in South Carolina... but now we are in "the land where time stands still" better get used to it !
Arriving at Port aux Basques!
Crossing was fantastic ... super calm!
I am sure the Sea Gods will punish us on the trip back! Met a crazy group of "golden oldies" from Nova Scotia headed to Newfoundland!
About an hour away from the dock ... if you zoom in ... there's snow on the hills!
Just about halfway across... according to google maps!
A little wine 🍷... a little woman 🙎... and some more gravol !!
We're on our way ... passing another ferry!
On the ferry ⛴!
Ok ... here we go ... into the mouth 👄 of the whale 🐳!
This lines are filling up. ... almost time to board!
Dark roast ☕️, hash brown, and Gravol 💊!
The breakfast of champions!! 🏅🏅
Lining up for the ⛴ ferry! It looks like a nice day for a crossing!
14 June 2017
Ended the day with a nice meal! We found a cool 😎 restaurant ... The Black Spoon Bistro!
Had cheddar-cauliflower soup, garden salad with balsamic maple 🍁 vinaigrette and spinach dip and veggie panini!
Spectacular! And a Red Coat amber ale from Breton Brewing Company!
The end of a perfect (yet somewhat scary) day!
Tomorrow .. it's bagels and Gravol for breakfast before we board the Ferry!
Worst of the hills behind ... back to the trailer in North Sydney!
Yes ... more crazy hills! Had to use the brakes more today ... than in the Rockies!
Had to stop for some road construction... can you see the clouds rolling in?
Kind of eerie!
Back to the insane hills ... I'm glad not pulling a trailer!!!
The top of the ⛰on are Highlands are quite sparse and the trees quite small !
