Flying out now, Thailand was a blast! Didn't get to see everything but that only means we need to come back soon!
Off to Taiwan next!

We didn't realize today is Thai new year Songkran. Good thing I didn't change out of my swimming clothes because it was a crazy street water gun fight where everyone is free for all.
I got soaked just walking trying to walk through Bangla street!
After a whole day outside on the islands. We made our way back inland to Patong beach and found another food market.
Ended the tour with a visit to symbol of Koh Yao Noi. A 300 year old tree with massive roots that spreads out in folds.
After lunch we were ferried onto another small island where the tide was so low we could walk at least 300 to 400 meters away from the beach coast.
After snorkeling, we went to have lunch. The location where we had lunch was very unique, it was right in the middle of a local fish farm.
We have one of the best lunch ever provided by a tour. The food was very flavourful and tasty. After lunch the local fish farmer showed us all the different type of fishes he was had. The most interesting was of course the puffer fish!
On the 3rd day, we booked an excursion to one of the many islands around Phuket. We went with a tour operator that took us to the islands near Koh Hong Krabi.
We did some snorkeling and relaxed a bit on the beach.

Tried paddle board for the first time. It was a lot harder than it looks!
We had 2, 45 min dive sessions that seem to go by really quickly. Not lot of fishes to see but we did enjoy swimming by the corals and the structures under water.
On the 2nd day, we were heading to the Racha Yai island for our discovery dive trip. Our drive shop chartered a dive boat to take us the the dive spot. There were other dive groups on our boat. Most of them are divers and some are snorkelers. We definitely have have a good mix of people on board.

Big Buddha statue in the top of a mountain. The view is amazing from the top.
The base of the statue seems is still under construction. You can donate some money to the construction of the Buddha and they will give you a piece of marble where you can write your name and message, they will place your marble piece inside the base of the statue.
Wat Chalong temple.
Temple buildings look smaller than I imagined. It is very nice on the inside.
Next day we hired a private driver to take us to the tourist spots in town.
We passed by a shooting range on the way to Wat Chalong temple and decided to give it a try.
The cost of bullets are very expensive! Decided to try the 9mm and 11 rounds cost 1260 bhat. My friend decided to try the shotgun! Go big or go home!
Not bad for my first time, I think I'm a natural ☺

After settling in to our hotel, we decided to hit Patong beach area to check out the food markets.
The tour guide our hotel recommends we head out to Banzaan market in Paying and check out the local eats.
Arrived at Novatel Kamala beach. The hotel lobby is a nice open concept feel with a gorgeous view of their private beach.
The room itself is fairly big with modern feel. Overall it was very nice.
Finally arrived in Phuket. The international airport is smaller than I imagined.
First order of business. Food!
Pad thai with river prawn and some weird snacks from 7-eleven.
We made it! Flying Cathay was nice! Pretty roomy and in flight entertainment had a lot of content. I didn't even need to use my tablet which I loaded many hours of Netflix shows.
Super tired, we didn't get much sleep. Just felt like I was going in and out of consciousness a lot.

Well it only took 20 plus years to plan a trip with my long time friends and it is finally happening! Leaving Toronto to take our flight to Hong Kong and transfer to Phuket!
Will be a long one roughly 14 hours on a plane.
