Donna's tour through Cyprus

14 October 2017

Dinner at Argo. Wanted Meze but takes two hours to cook and the owner said he couldn’t do it as it’s take too long and we were lucky to get a table as they were fully booked. We went in about 6.30pm and not long after the restaurant began to fill up. Bit disappointed we couldn’t have Meze. He was very pushy on the klefitko as Saturday and Thursdays are ‘kleftiko’ days. Jason had the steak Diane and o had kleftiko. Both were ok dishes, nice enough. Kleftiko is really lamb shank without any sauce. Hugo was playing up so meal was very rushed but the atmosphere was quite manic anyway with owner not really knowing who booked what times and where to seat people. The other staff were nice.

Hired car (Peugeot cabriolet) for day. Went to Omodos, nice wine village, quaint and pretty. Drive up to Troodos mountains. Very cold up there so warm clothes advised. Not much to see or do. We drove back to Omodos (approx 20mins)for lunch in the square.
Ocean Basket Nice friendly atmosphere. Jason had fish and chips, I had sushi for 1. Frozen apple martini, G&T for Jason. Good sized portions and busy! Bill: €60-€70

7 St. George Tavern Great family-run restaurant. Father and son. No menu, just bring food out according to dietary requirements. Good house red chilled. Great atmosphere and very busy!! If you have a toddler and you need to eat quickly, then may not be the beat place as there were only two people serving and so it was quite slow, but if you’re out as a couple and have no need to rush, would recommend. €55 bill

Ate at harbour restaurant, Poseidonas Nice but twice price as other restaurants due to tourist area and location. Bill came to just over €100. I had fresh red snapper, grilled with fries and salad. J had chicken kebab. Great view but not overly fussed about food. Starters: Donna - grilled octopus (not too fussed about this), Jason had prawn cocktail.

Good meat mezze for two, lots of options. Nice carafe of red. One of the best place to eat. Family run and food tasty food. Service can be hit and miss according to reports but we thought it was fine. Bill:€70 approx
