Don and Lori's Summer adventure - 2017

31 July 2017

Went into Montreal again today to walk around the down town area. We parked across the St Lawrence River and took the Metro in. We were somewhat underwhelmed, this is not a very pretty city, has lots of homeless, has lots of detours and construction (eGransPrix), overall not a city I would come back to. On the other hand it had a nice China Town, Notre Dame de Montreal and great poutine! Tomorrow we pull up stakes and move to a new camp ground on Lake Ontario just outside of The Toronto area.

30 July 2017

Today we drove to Mont Royal Parc just on the north side of down town. This was the last day of the eFormula races in Montreal city. Great race but it really made a totally disaster of the traffic. Detours everywhere due to the race and multiple major over pass construction in and around the city.. Once at the top the the view was great, lost of walking paths. Finished with a small lunch just outside of town on the south side of the river.

28 July 2017

Quebec City walk around today. Beautiful city, nice day. Chateau Frontenac and SS Veendam in port...

27 July 2017

Dinner at the St Hubert restaurant in Old Quebec. Beef tartare, escargot, lamb chops and scallops with sweet breads. Very delicious!
Canyon Saint Anne, swinging bridges, zip lines and canyon climbing. We may come back again to try the climbing, looks fun!
Today we went touring east of Quebec along the St Lawrence River. Visited a copper shop, brew pub, Basilique St Anne, Canyon Saint Anne and finally Old Quebec for dinner. The Basilque was beautiful, and very large in a very cute little village.

26 July 2017

Good news! The RV dealership repaired the automatic switch today in about an hour. These Canadians can "get her done"! C'est Bon! Only cost us $80 for our warranty deductible... We had a wonderful Canadian family camping next to us who loaned us a charger and power to keep our batteries topped. We weren't sure how long the repair would take, so auxiliary charging was required in addition to our solar panels...very nice folks!
Problems today with our automatic power transfer switch in our motor coach. It burned itself up preventing us from getting power. Fortunately a nearby RV dealer has the part and will repair it today, latest by tomorrow. However, no touring for us today!

25 July 2017

Campsite in Quebec, Camping Bernieres! Ces't Magnifique!

21 July 2017

The reward from our hike was lunch and a beverage at Jordan Pond House. Lobster stew, lobster roll and fresh popovers!
Today we went on a nice hike in Acadia. We took the Penobscot Trail Loop which winds around Jordan Pond and up to the top of Penobscot mountain. It is a intermediate to difficult hike as it has some climbs up small rock faces. It was difficult but well worth the effort!

20 July 2017

Left our Campground, Hadley's Point Campground this morning at 11:00, bound for the Bar Harbor Waterfront KOA just down the road 3 miles. Had to move as we couldn't get reservation for any longer at Hadley's. The KOA is very nice, we can actually see the waterfront from our site. Full hookups, including cable tv so we n m. should be comfortable for the next few days until awe move on to Canada.

7 June 2017

Had lunch at Primanti Brothers restaurant in Pittsburgh. It started years ago in the Pittsburgh strip district serving the truckers who delivered food and produce to the city of Pittsburgh. It's famous for sandwiches piled high with meats, Cole slaw and French fries! Now it's a Pittsburgh chain..

Second photo is Carter's Oval Office.
