Autumn travel to Hua Hin Thailand

29 November 2017

Today we've been around to Cha-Am witch is about 30km from Hua Hin. Although it's high season it is very quiet everywhere. Close to Hua Hin we found many monkeys who wanted to steal or even to bite while taking care of our rented motorbike.

Hua Hin (หัวหิน) is a seaside city in the Gulf of Thailand. It is popular with Thais, having become quite fashionable as a weekend getaway spot for Bangkok residents, as well with foreigners and as an ex-pat retirement or holiday home location. It is in the Province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. Popularised as a resort in the early-1920s by King Prajadhipok, Hua Hin is closely associated with the Thai royal family. Until 1934, it was known as Samore Riang (สมอเรียง), or "rows of rocks". The tranquil fishing village was turned into a royal resort and consequently became popular among Siam's nobility and upper classes. In 1928, Prajadhipok built his Klai Kangwon (Far From Worries) Palace.

Arrival in Hua Hin. The station is really beautiful.
Today we traveled with a "high speed" train from Hualampong station in Bangkok to the southern beach of Hua Hin. Scheduled trains are unpredictible in Thailand but we only had a delay of 10 min. at the start. The distance is about 200km and it takes between 3-4h to cover this distance. Electric trains only ride in the capital city so older diesel locomotives are still in use. Along the way you have a variation in scenery what is beautiful. A part of it was floaded after exceptionally strong rain 2 days ago.

The other 2 are the Chinese one and Thai New year (Songkran) on April 13th. Till the end of December it's worth to pay a visit to the Royal crematorium from King Bhumibol who is deceased october 2016. The place is called Sanam Luang and it's close to the Royal palace.
